It was inconceivable at the time that 10 years to the day of the first show would be the day we lost Freddie.
March 1977:
Queen, my first concert by any band. I saw Queen thereafter as well during other tours.
Always fckn great.
I almost got to see Queen as a kid but after their "I wanna break free video" caused a stir on MTV, they cancelled their US tour and I wasn't able to see them. When this IMAX came out recently, I rushed to go see them on a Thurs night at my local IMAX theater and was 1 of 4 others who were there. We had a 375 seat IMAX theater to ourselves and it was like being there at this concert. I finally got to see Freddie perform live and he really was something special. One of the greatest of all time male vocalist, a treasure to see live.
Queen is a historical band who stood the test of time, will definitely be a Hall of Fame band.
Love seeing the comments from Brian and Roger, retelling this exact experience from their perspective.
They've done good with Adam Lambert but there will never be another Freddie Mercury.
Saw it January 21, 2024 Sunday both showings of 6PM and 8:30pm. Over 30 patrons for both here in Lakeside Village lakeland Florida.
@@user-er3ri6sc3j Saw it in Wichita Kansas, so just a little bit different. Wichita is the biggest city in Kansas but that arctic blast was going through, so it was around -30 outside at 845pm that night.
@@Lucixir Nice to notice their shoes. Freddie was in Adidas and Brian in Nikes. I think John was in Pony but couldn't figure out Rogers's shoes.

Enjoyed this very much. It was a great concert. Wow. You all worked so hard making this wonderful music. Brian with your wonderful Red Special and playing the piano. Roger, man were you banging out those drums. Freddie was certainly a very special treasure. Love the way Deaky was jumping around. Queen, thank you for all this gift. Seeing all of you in this format was truly moving and if it is all possible, appreciate you even that much more.
Was so amazing! So wonderful to have been able to experience Queen like this since I was unable to see the band back in that time frame due to being a kid. I think that is why I went to see Bohemian three times at IMAX in the first two weeks the movie was out to even glimmer what it would have been like to watch Queen live in the 80s before Freddie passing in 91...
Now it's time to take Wembley 86 to IMAX
After having watched many films in IMAX here in Fort Lauderdale, I always wondered how music would sound coming out of that sound system. What an absolute treat its was to be able to hear these iconic songs through there as my first IMAX concert experience. Saw the box office haul was great for a three day run. Hopefully it inspires other IMAX remasters of concert films.
Incredible experience. This and Stop Making Sense were in my top movie experiences this year.
I saw loads and loads of rock concerts back then, but somehow I always missed Queen when they came through town. Watching this on IMAX was as close as I'll ever come, and it was pretty damn close. In some ways even better. Not only did I get to feel like I was in the audience but I also got to feel like I was onstage. I got to see them up close, playing around and improvising off each other. The quality is mind-boggling. I wish they hadn't cut songs out and rearranged them from the original order; it kind of broke the rhythm and momentum that the band had built. No matter, it was breathtaking. It was emotional. Tears escaped from my eyes.

We saw it here in Austin at Bob Bullock which has a GIGANTIC screen!!! It was amazing. There's a wistful quality watching Freddie, but the showmanship and energy overtakes that throughout. I thought they had keyboards on this one but they say otherwise in this video. Even more impressive. I don't know who puts on shows like this these days.
