Fun fact: the Blue Beetle suit is a real suit that was built, and not fully CGI. Now sure, some of the scenes, especially during action scenes, have to use more CGI, but it's mainly a practical effect. I love it so much, it is in my top 3 favorite live action comic book suits.

Coming from a 47 year old completely white guy :) i loved this movie so much, my wife is Hispanic and every scene with the family reminds me so much of being at my wife's grandmother's house filled with aunts uncles and cousins. The movie had a lot of heart, good action, Xolo is so good and charismatic in the role. I have been a life long DC comics fan and of all the DC's movies this has been one of my favorites, they don't have to be so dark and moody to be great. I the writer/director said it was a love letter to the Hispanic family and i think he succeeded with it.

As a Latina, I saw a lot of things in this movie that I never thought I’d see on a big screen. I had such a fun time watching Blue Beetle. It’s one of my favorite movies of the year.
I honestly don’t know why people are saying “ it’s a flop” when this movie was sooooo good it made me cry so much with the family they directed so well like it’s a different vibe. Because we actually have some heart in the characters. And don’t even get me started on the family is soo hilarious 10/10 movie for me ❤❤
I like him but I just wished he would've given Henry a sendoff Superman film there's elseworld stuff Joker is its own universe why not adapt kingdom come with Henry it just felt a little tonedeaf everyone was so excited about Henry coming back why not give him a nice sendoff for him and the fans that doesn't impact your own Superman film at all

Honesty one of the best superhero films I have seen in a while! As a Salvadoran American that is living overseas ( Vietnam), I felt represented and love seeing the family dynamics that played out throughout the movie. I watched this movie in theaters more than a few times and enjoyed it very much. Even my Vietnamese friends that watched it found the interactions with the family very relatable. Xolo was born for this role, such a great, fun movie, kind of reminded me of a more old school comic book movie. Great supporting cast as well. "La Famillie ". Looking forward to the Sequel already.
Son many references in this film for example María la del barrio famous telenovela starring and performed by Thalía and in the ending scene the iconic song "Nada Personal" performed by one of the greatest bands of all time in argentina and latin america Soda Stereo. Xolo is fan favourite and being considered for the role of Ace (a very important character to come) in One Piece which he suits perfectly. Also Jamie Lee Curtis is almost guaranteed for another role. Very much want to see them. U guys need to start on "Cobra Kai" since that is Xolo's rise to fame and the nostalgia this series gives of Karate Kid series is unmatched. It's an absolutely great movie! Xolo was fantastic and his character Jaime is kind, brave and full of love and heart.. Victoria (Susan Sarandon) is great too.. It's so sad that the film failed at the box office, because it shows real family values, friendship and real love.. The Blue Beetle deserves more!
These days I am not fussed about spoilers - or consciously looking for them. I love these movie reactions especially when I am so undecided whether to go see it at a cinema or just wait till it's on DVD? In this instance I am glad I saved AUD approximately $25 for another rainy day at the cinemas 😊
I saw this in Astoria, Queens, NYC with a small but majorly Hispanic crowd that understood all the references so it was a great time. Angel Manuel Soto really brought the entire Latinx experience to the fold. People cracked up at the Maria del Barrio bit, and audible sneers at the School of the Americas connection. The island fortress was clearly modeled after El Morro in San Juan. There was Don Q rum at the corporate event. Calle 13 to open the film. Soto is probably my cousin somehow, lol. He really killed it. Jaime's mother was played by the woman in Predator, who gets to fly the chopper this time, haha.

I only meant that for people who don't know much Spanish it was hard to follow what they were saying during those times. There are no subtitles or were none when I went to see the movie when it first came out. That is all I meant . Not everyone speaks multiple languages. I can speak some Spanish, read and write in Latin and Ancient Greek, I teach myself other languages also. I love different languages and other people's culture. As a middle-aged honky, I know I missed a bunch of cultural references in the scenes with Jaime's family, so I was really happy to see that they resonated with the people being represented! I went and saw it with my Mexican roommate. He wanted to see a movie and i suggested this one. He liked it a lot. So did i. I liked the family dynamic as it was wholesome and so far removed from my own childhood in the best way. All the actors did great. I liked mama the best.
This movie was incredible!!! I love Jaimie Reyes Blue Beetle and this movie captured his personality and fighting style perfectly. If you ever want a fantastic DC show, the animated Young Justice show was amazing and Jaimie joins the cast in later seasons.
@@OfficialMediaKnights Exactly, the reach (who reacted the scarab) are planetary dominators. In the lore they made an agreement with the lanterns to stop invading planets but being who they were they still devices other ways they created scarabs and sent them to planets to take a host and then use the host to infiltrate and kill the planet. The reach would then come in as helpers and basically take over the planet from there. Jaimes suit somehow got damaged and this cleared all the directives in it (basically erased all the memory). This is why Jamie isn't slave to the suit. If all went well, jaime would be trapped in the suit while the scarab took over.
a very good film fun, the family relationship is very good, action scenes are very good, visual effects are good, costumes are wonderful (just like comics and animations) exciting at times. I already knew the character from the animation Justiça Joven. the negative part that I noticed was the very caricatured villains. I hope James Gunn adds Blue Beetle to his new universe and Xolo continues playing this wonderful character.
Most superheroes keep their secret identities even from their families, with some exceptions, Jaime being one of them. I love how his entire family is in on it.
This movie was going up against insane odds. Writers strike PLUS the news about the DCU being completely redone (and not knowing if this movie was gonna be canon or not) PLUS Marvel fatigue (superhero fatigue) PLUS actors strike making promotion impossible PLUS a character not as well known as Superman. Really wish it did better in theaters bc it’s such a fun ride, but the film had hard odds to overcome
You know what just dawned on me, it's easy to chalk Jamie's talk with his dad as something his mind is doing but I like to think since the Scarab is alien in origin, from the Reach, it's possible to save Jamie & itself, the Scarab opened up a portal to another dimension to give Jamie what he needed, since it would seem easier to establish a connection if Jamie himself was in a limbo state. I know it's wild/a reach (😏) but I like the thought. Also stand up ANDROID!! 🔥🔥 & THIS is how this film should be appreciated. It was amazing. It spoke to a whole culture & was still amazing.
I'm so glad blue beatle will be coming back. This movie surprised me so much. Rudy pulling that heartbreaking monolog about Alberto out of nowhere, Jaime's conviction influencing the planet busting WMD to the point that the one time his conviction wavers it pulls him back from the edge and gives him empathy instead, the bleak cyberpunk themes tempered with the bombastic power fantasy of the superhero genre to get the best of both worlds, etc. I'm really excited to see what else they do with this version of the character

Blue Beetle is once again a really cool superhero film.😊😊Some think the film and the CGI are bad. I find the opposite of that. The film and the CGI are way better than The Flash.😊😊The humor was simply amazing. The family was just crazy.😂😂

The first Blue Beetle was Dan Garrett (who had superpowers thanks to the Scarab) during the Golden Age of Comics (1938-1955) through the Silver Age of Comics (1956-1970) but he ended up dying in the Bronze Age of Comics (1971-1985). The second Blue Beetle was Ted Kord (who had no powers but was like Batman with gadgets and his own transportation called the Bugship), he stayed Blue Beetle through the rest of the Bronze Age to the Modern Age (1986-present) but he ended up dying during what is known as the countdown to the Infinite Crisis of the 2000s (killed by gunshot through the head by Maxwell Lord) but was brought back after the DC Rebirth and Dark Crisis as a mentor to Jaime Reyes. The Third Blue Beetle is Jaime Reyes and became Blue Beetle during Infinite Crisis and the most powerful Blue Beetle ever plus his early comics were like seeing a DC Peter Parker.
This movie is so underrated. It deserved better. Not the best movie ever but it definitely has such a big heart and I had much more fun than with other bigger movies...
@Media Knights in the intro of the movie there’s more than one Scarab of different colour flying in a line so my theory is that there’s more scarabs will crash land on earth making Jaime not the only one who has a Scarab and a suit.

Reyes family house scenes were filmed in Puerto Rico, the 1st song was from Calle 13 known now as Residente also from Puerto Rico, the song the grandmother was listening on her headphones while Jaime was transforming to Blue Bettlee was from Reggaeton Artist Ivy Queen also from Puerto Rico and the Bus stop scene the guy on the far right with the white shirt is Jon Z Spanish Trap artist from Puerto Rico too.

Jus FYI his wings were ripped off during the final battle w/ K-Pax. It was one of my favorite origin movies in the DCU. Xolo will return in the DCU & I hope the family comes along as well 🙏

I saw this in Astoria, Queens, NYC with a small but majorly Hispanic crowd that understood all the references so it was a great time. Angel Manuel Soto really brought the entire Latinx experience to the fold. People cracked up at the Maria del Barrio bit, and audible sneers at the School of the Americas connection. The island fortress was clearly modeled after El Morro in San Juan. There was Don Q rum at the corporate event. Calle 13 to open the film. Soto is probably my cousin somehow, lol. He really killed it.
Jaime's mother was played by the woman in Predator, who gets to fly the chopper this time, haha.
Ted cord might be with booster gold maybe stuck in another timeline (both of them are friends in future)

I only meant that for people who don't know much Spanish it was hard to follow what they were saying during those times. There are no subtitles or were none when I went to see the movie when it first came out. That is all I meant . Not everyone speaks multiple languages. I can speak some Spanish, read and write in Latin and Ancient Greek, I teach myself other languages also. I love different languages and other people's culture. Don't try to start an argument and call me a racist. My brother is Hispanic. I'm not a racist. Hell, because my brother is Hispanic, I've been teaching myself Spanish.

As a middle-aged honky, I know I missed a bunch of cultural references in the scenes with Jaime's family, so I was really happy to see that they resonated with the people being represented! I enjoyed the living hell out of this movie and your reaction--especially when the suit spoke Spanish to Jaime!

I went and saw it with my Mexican roommate. He wanted to see a movie and i suggested this one. He liked it a lot. So did i. I liked the family dynamic as it was wholesome and so far removed from my own childhood in the best way.
All the actors did great. I liked mama the best.
Gotta watch Cobra Kai, it’s a sequel TV show of the Karate Kid, Xolo is a main character in the show.

This movie was incredible!!! I love Jaimie Reyes Blue Beetle and this movie captured his personality and fighting style perfectly. If you ever want a fantastic DC show, the animated Young Justice show was amazing and Jaimie joins the cast in later seasons.

@@OfficialMediaKnights Exactly, the reach (who reacted the scarab) are planetary dominators. In the lore they made an agreement with the lanterns to stop invading planets but being who they were they still devices other ways they created scarabs and sent them to planets to take a host and then use the host to infiltrate and kill the planet. The reach would then come in as helpers and basically take over the planet from there. Jaimes suit somehow got damaged and this cleared all the directives in it (basically erased all the memory). This is why Jamie isn't slave to the suit. If all went well, jaime would be trapped in the suit while the scarab took over.
a very good film
fun, the family relationship is very good, action scenes are very good, visual effects are good, costumes are wonderful
(just like comics and animations) exciting at times. I already knew the character from the animation Justiça Joven. the negative part that I noticed was the very caricatured villains.
I hope James Gunn adds Blue Beetle to his new universe and Xolo continues playing this wonderful character.
Most superheroes keep their secret identities even from their families, with some exceptions, Jaime being one of them. I love how his entire family is in on it.

This movie was going up against insane odds. Writers strike PLUS the news about the DCU being completely redone (and not knowing if this movie was gonna be canon or not) PLUS Marvel fatigue (superhero fatigue) PLUS actors strike making promotion impossible PLUS a character not as well known as Superman. Really wish it did better in theaters bc it’s such a fun ride, but the film had hard odds to overcome

Blue Beetle became my new favourite Superhero after watching this movie. I love this movie so much!
You know what just dawned on me, it's easy to chalk Jamie's talk with his dad as something his mind is doing but I like to think since the Scarab is alien in origin, from the Reach, it's possible to save Jamie & itself, the Scarab opened up a portal to another dimension to give Jamie what he needed, since it would seem easier to establish a connection if Jamie himself was in a limbo state. I know it's wild/a reach (😏) but I like the thought.
Also stand up ANDROID!! 🔥🔥 & THIS is how this film should be appreciated. It was amazing. It spoke to a whole culture & was still amazing.

I'm so glad blue beatle will be coming back. This movie surprised me so much. Rudy pulling that heartbreaking monolog about Alberto out of nowhere, Jaime's conviction influencing the planet busting WMD to the point that the one time his conviction wavers it pulls him back from the edge and gives him empathy instead, the bleak cyberpunk themes tempered with the bombastic power fantasy of the superhero genre to get the best of both worlds, etc. I'm really excited to see what else they do with this version of the character

The first Blue Beetle was Dan Garrett (who had superpowers thanks to the Scarab) during the Golden Age of Comics (1938-1955) through the Silver Age of Comics (1956-1970) but he ended up dying in the Bronze Age of Comics (1971-1985). The second Blue Beetle was Ted Kord (who had no powers but was like Batman with gadgets and his own transportation called the Bugship), he stayed Blue Beetle through the rest of the Bronze Age to the Modern Age (1986-present) but he ended up dying during what is known as the countdown to the Infinite Crisis of the 2000s (killed by gunshot through the head by Maxwell Lord) but was brought back after the DC Rebirth and Dark Crisis as a mentor to Jaime Reyes. The Third Blue Beetle is Jaime Reyes and became Blue Beetle during Infinite Crisis and the most powerful Blue Beetle ever plus his early comics were like seeing a DC Peter Parker.
This movie is so underrated. It deserved better. Not the best movie ever but it definitely has such a big heart and I had much more fun than with other bigger movies...

@Media Knights in the intro of the movie there’s more than one Scarab of different colour flying in a line so my theory is that there’s more scarabs will crash land on earth making Jaime not the only one who has a Scarab and a suit.
