Sometimes windows has issues or problems that we can't fix and that is where reset this pc comes in. Personally I use the restore backup image method, once I get a computer up and running with drivers etc..... NO windows updates, make image backup stored on usb pen and put it away, had to use my pen yesterday, only took 20mins to dođđ» and didn't have to mess around finding drivers etc...... Reason had to do it this way was due to programs etc... would open then shut immediately, couldn't find answer online, used image to restore, all great, then problem came back, restore again, problem came back, did complete clean install, problem came back again đĄđĄđĄđĄđĄ, after messing around for bit used image backup to restore again, what I noticed was before doing the image backup, I HADN'T installed one program, it was GPU tweaker II , Didn't install again, problem gone, my point is your type of person that could do video about programs opening and shutting immediately, as it seems to be a very common problem on windows 10, and Nvidia graphics cards are the goto for people, and GPU tweaker II is always on disk in box, and people use it all the time đđ»đ€Ș

That was clear and consise and I hope I will remember in the future.
In the past one of my biggest bug-bears has been "essential" software which will simply not un-install even when you use the application on the softwares web site to completely etc etc etc. I have had issues in the past (some years in the past - with Norton AV) which refused to go completely and the only way I could think of at the time was to ""completely"" re-install including a complete Disc Format to get rid of the b-thing. I HOPE that I may not have needed to do that because of all of the implication of re-installation of everything else.

Option #2 at least once a year is good IT practice, second only to backup, backup, and backup.

Hi Brian. To me, old school but I much prefer to do a "clean install" rather than a "factory re set" Clean install is when you format your hard drive after backing up any personal stuff. Then do a clean install of windows.
I tried everything on my laptop. I followed every instruction all videos asked me to do especially from windows support. I tried using the command promt but it didn't work, I tried installing recovery media but it did not install, I tried to restart to find the stuff in advanced options but it only shows UEFI firmare. My computer is stuck on this and I need to get rid of whatever is preventing it.

In my opinion it's also worth reinstalling every couple of years even if you're not experiencing any issues, I did this earlier this week on my Surface Pro and my Windows folder went down from 45Gb to 14Gb (admittedly I haven't reinstalled every program I originally had on there but it'll still take a while to work its way back up to 45Gb). I backed up all my personal files to an external HDD first (and also any config settings from appdata for certain programs) and then created a recovery USB stick.
Wow the only reason I use windows instead of any other just because of this amazing feature "reset this pc".
Windows lovely in features and devil in collecting telemetry.

Hi Brian! I want to reset my Windows 10 enterprise tablet. The problem is it stuck on 38% for like 8h already. Few wideos with dimmilar problem explain that you have to be patient but Im waiting literally 8h. I think its just stuck forever. Is it good idea to use media creation tool to reainstall windows?

I have always enjoyed the tutorial from Brain, thorough yet straight to the point, welldone and thank you. My win10 was upgraded from win8, would that makes any different? If I perform the reset would they keep my current product key after installation? Or do I need to jot down the key number before I reset the windows? thanks.

Every time i attempt any of these my pc will not restart. the screen goes black and does nothing. until im forced to power it off . it will boot up to desktop and everything but i cannot get any reset or repairs to work at all. just goes black and nothing more

Iâm having problems where I did factory reset but I canât login in at all from scratch. It has brought up my old account I started but says it doesnât exist. So I reset the password and tried the old PIN numbers and still nothing. I even tried resetting it from the start menu like shown and it still brings up my old account email and itâs not like a brand new pc type of deal. So right now itâs useless is there a way to fix it?

I cannot reset my laptop it goes back to the same screen over and over something about internet browser open then it will take me back to the screen where I put in my time and location and stuff I cannot connect to my internet to update the pc as it tells me so now itâs stuck in the reboot

Im at a loss I cant reset if I try to use google for some reason Microsoft family features blocks me. All I wanted to do was boot up my damn pc and install a driver for a gpu.
I followed your previous video about disabling system restore, today I was faced with my nvidia graphics card not being recognised, forgot I disabled restore. Now I got my self into a situation where it won't download a fresh copy of Windows, and won't reload a copy from hard drive is this because I deleted the shadow thingy? (plz forgive my technical incompetence). I may have a system image on another drive to save my bacon. But my question was is the shadow thingy related to not being able to reinstall from local drive? Yiou have to make aa backup of your data. Windows has backup tools, including a system image creator. Or there are other programs online.

@@rsssnd_ if you can see your cursor and your on the desktop screen try right clicking and scroll to view and down to show desktop...just a thought.
@@rsssnd_ From black screen with cursor press ALT+CTRL+DEL if screen be blue with some choices select the "sign out" and that will open the lock screen ,now press SHIFT and keep it pressed and select restart with your mouse at down right corner of screen . Your PC will reboot at screen with choices for repairs and reset.

For some odd reason it will not reset, saying there was a problem resetting your pc. Getting very annoyed.

@@techh9171 using a usb to reset it, downloading windows from a different pc or your pc that wonât reset onto a flash drive and then plug in the drive and load bios and launch that flash drive.
