      True. But sadly it probably won't be hosting the final - if the US get their way....which they invariably will.
      It's highly likely that the final WILL be held in an American stadium - either NY's 'Metlife Stadium', LA's 'SoFi Stadium', or 'Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Arena'.
      Not sure what FIFA's thoughts on this are, but knowing them they'll probably side with the US. Because FIFA are like that. Logic and common sense don't seem to apply to them!

    • @Ometecuhtli

      I don't think South Korea had any football specific stadiums, they were all multi-purpose venues with track & field which was useful for the Olympics but not the World Cup, and I believe FIFA had more stringent rules so rather than revamping them it appears it was easier to build new ones.

    • @Ometecuhtli
      @Ometecuhtli Před 5 měsíci

      I think for most sports enthusiasts football seems a bit undisciplined so I assume the Nazis weren't very keen on promoting the sport and rather wanted the Germans to excel in track & field, also as they were banned from competition for several years they didn't have the resources to build such projects and instead used what was already there. The win in 1954 was truly a miracle as they transformed the team into the perennial contenders we know today, but as the economy was still recovering many of the players had daytime jobs to support themselves so again, with money still scarce I don't think having a purpose built stadium would've been a popular choice.

      None of those stadiums will be hosting matches- those are the finalized venues. Montreal dropped out last year because that stadium is in a terrible condition, no one regularly uses it and the Quebec provincial government cut funding to update the stadium for this tournament, which would make no financial sense. Rogers Centre was contacted but they declined to take part, and BMO Field, which is being expanded is hosting Toronto's WC matches; and Caesars Stadium was cut before the bid was submitted.
