Facts
The covers were usually so good, later seasons when everyone decided they wanted to choose their songs and improv could be hit or miss but they usually were great. Even my high school graduation, our concert choir performed the Glee version of Don’t Stop Believin’ as 1 of the 4 graduation songs.

While there are so many laughs, there are a lot of serious topics and serious moments that will occur in this show. The beginning of the first season was truly the cast getting to know each other, but as the season finished and the second season began and continued the ACTUAL story began. There will be love, laughter and unfortunately real, heartbreaking loss. I hope you enjoy watching.

to answer ur kinda question at the end. yes this show it's satire. or, at least, started out as pure satire and started taking itself too seriously as the seasons progress. but the absolute unseriousness is there till the very end, i would argue it just gets more insane. that said, this is probably my fav show ever it's so damn funny and could absolutely never exist in 2024. and the music BANGS ( not constantly in my spotify wrapped at the end of the year for nothing ). hope u continue !

Yeah! The thing with Glee, is that originally it was created to be an in-joke to people who WERE those kids in high school. It was made by and for the weird theater kids. It's very unserious, and very much a parody of what our high school experience was. None of the characters or circumstances are really supposed to be taken seriously. They are intentionally campy, because they are self commentary stereotypes. Its comedy is like Mean Girls, you aren't supposed to realistically dig deep into it.
.....buuuuut as Season 1 progressed and it started to draw in a younger audience (mostly because of the popularity of the musical numbers), it became obvious that nobody gave the new audience the "this is supposed to be Camp" -memo. ... And so the audience expectation shifted. And the show writers started to change the tone of the show as it went on. No spoilers obviously, but you'll see as you continue to watch. There's a definite tonel shift from the first five or so episodes into the rest of the series. Suddenly they have to start taking characters like Kurt and Rachel seriously, instead of just looking at them with the broad comedy lense that they were originally created for. And it kind of suffers for that.
Not saying that some of the social commentary that came out of it wasn't good or needed, (especially the impact it created on real world LGBTQ acceptance and normalization)... but Glee was always at its best when it was unserious. When its borderline absurd, and gets to go back to playing with it's Camp roots.
So enjoy the crazy bits. Embrace the "cringe". Thats where it's heart really is.

Yeahhhh there's a lot of suspicious things Mr Schue does and kind of just gets away with. Watching it back then you're kinda just in the moment. Most people never really thought about it until you watch it again and you're like "Wait... He's just watching him shower" lol

Heads up, a few people who played in this show passed away. The guy who played Finn died from drug overdose, the guy who played Puck committed suicide after it was found out that he had cp, and the woman who played Santana drowned. Not to darken the mood or anything, but just some info.

looking forward to seeing more of these reactions! when i first watched this show i was like 11 and i would sit down anyone of my friends to force them to watch the first two episodes 😭 and i miss that! i can’t ever watch this show for the first time again so i love the opportunity to relive that vicariously through you. if you thought their final performance was rlly good just wait. santana and mercedes provide some of THE BEST covers/vocal renditions of songs on this show ugh i can’t wait. if you make it to s3 the whitney tribute episode is phenomenal. one of my favorite episodes in terms of the track list to date.

the thing with Glee fandom is it's so splintered, pretty much ANY opinion will piss off some faction or the other. One of the benefits/curses of having such a large cast. Everyone has a fave and everyone has a character they loathe. So no need to censor yourself. There really is no majority opinion, tbh.

For a long time my favorite character in the show was Kurt (not in season one, but from season two onward). Now it's changed to Santana, but Kurt still has a very special place in my heart. I also really love Blaine (a character that's introduced a bit later in the show). My favorite vocalists on the other hand are Mercedes, Santana and Blaine.

When I first watched Glee I loved Mr S but now I just think he's literally a fully grown up man that is just living the life he wanted to have through the lives of the kids. Extremely problematic

The only reason he decided to stay with the Glee Club is because HE was happy when HE was in the Glee Club. They make sure to stress this in the first episode.
Also, it's not problematic for characters to have flaws.

That's not appropriate dude. For as much as I love Glee, and believe me I do, that's just not right

I agree with you, their cover of Don't Stop Believin is way better than the original. I can't wait until you hear the cover of Dream On. It's really damn good. I never liked the original or Aerosmith, not a fan of Steven Tyler's vocals at all, but the glee cover is incredibly well done.

I don't get why people hate Rachel Berry so much. Sure, she gets annoying at times and when she doesn't get what she wants she pouts and gets mad because she does not get all the solos and the actress that plays her has some issues. BUT she's a normal theatre kid, and trust me, she's better than most of the kids I went to high school with. Plus, there's a reason she got all the solos because she has a good singing voice. The best singer I'd say would be Mercedes.
Overall, my fav character would be Finn or Blaine.
before i watch the episode, my favorite characters are easily mercedes, quinn, santana, aaannd unfortunately finn. he’s problematic asf but cory was such a charm, i loved him and i stopped watching the show after he passed away cuz i was so heartbroken. i was in the middle of rewatching glee when naya tragically passed too and had to stop again so i never got to the end of the show. i also love kurt and blaine, but you’ll meet blaine when you get to s2.

Glee is the most progressive and offensive show of all time. It’s really worth watching for a laugh and cry. Also Don’t Stop Believin glee version no matter what will always be better than the original 🥹
