  • Actor and advocate Shailene Woodley joined Greenpeace aboard the Esperanza to sail to the Sargasso Sea, in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle. The Sargasso Sea is a vast ecosystem with abundant life that faces many threats, including plastic pollution. The mission was to show why the Sargasso Sea must be protected under the Global Oceans Treaty.
    An ocean lover all of her life, Shailene considers the platform she has to be a gift in her life and she hopes to use it to share information, knowledge, and wisdom. “You don’t have to be on a Greenpeace boat to make a huge difference for this planet. The power really does lie in our own hands, and it lies in holding corporations and our government accountable for the change that we want to make within our communities,” she said.

    We are not animals that live in oceans, stop contaminating the ocean. Live in jungle, in between plants, in the ground, in the soil living thing in which you can rest, walk, run and more to live. Thank you for helping in every way for everyone and to this planet, we need to each other because to keep changing, every help is need to keep living. Live love, be love.

    Feel what you are, think how you are, live what you need. Everyone can help, everyone can change. Nature is life. We can not live without plants, plants can live without us. If you feel it, you live it. Nature is to live it. Be yourself to connect to other same as you. You need to think and feel everything from you to be yourself. If you need to change something, begin with you. Every life have the need to live. I share light with you. Words not have sense, your life make sense. We are the same thing living the same thing. Think less to feel more. Nature is a living connection. Love begin in your brain and end in your heart. Love is need to heal ourself. Every life is connected by this planet. Whatever you live, live with someone. Nature is everything we need. The help I receive is the help I give. From light to live to live from everything. There is love in everyone. The need of feeling is bigger than the need of thinking. Living the life is the only way. Life is a living colour. See every life as seeing every light in it. Live freedom is how life is. Live more your feeling than your thought. I give my everything in empty words. The more inside of your feeling you are, the more yourself you are. When our thought is empty our feeling is everything. Every animal can think and feel, is sense to me, and you?. To make the change is to be the change. Love is reflection of what is inside. Be what you are, change how you live. Stop thinking to live how much we feel the same. Stop talking to live how much we are the same. We can change together, we can live united. Everything is possible without limit. Everything can be repeated. Why using words when we have feelings?. Every life live the same connection. Live with love to live united. See problem, be solution. Every help is need for every life. Think what you need and there is not need to think. We are the same, how we live is different. To feel or not to feel is about feeling, not about thinking it. Change your inside, not your outside. Get out of your thought to be free. There is love in everyone. Nature is need. Think it or not, feel it or not, we are living. Life is simple, if think about it, it change.

    No joke, when I was in the Navy, during long intervals of sea patrol, smaller ships like frigates accumulated garbage so fast that waste disposal got too full weeks before making port for supply, the only way to dispose for more room was to throw the garbage overboard.

    I never understood why so many plastic bags end up in the ocean

    • @GreenpeaceUSA

      Yes, it's tragic. It is estimated that up to 12 million metric tons of plastic enter our ocean each year. Discarded plastic fishing lines entangle turtles and seabirds, and plastic pieces of all sizes choke and clog the stomachs of creatures who mistake it for food, from tiny zooplankton to whales. Plastic is now entering every level of the ocean food chain and is even ending up in the seafood on our plates. Our planet can no longer tolerate a culture of throw-away plastics. Demand big corporations do their part to end plastic pollution: engage.us.greenpeace.org/onlineactions/gShqMDRqnEKzVTuFzHNMIQ2

      @@GreenpeaceUSA I think it's awful, but how does it end up in the ocean? Do we know, it can't all be blown in there by the wind, Do people purposely throw plastic in the ocean? it's crazy how much it is, It's dangerous. How can plastic be prevented from ending up in the Ocean and the seas?

    • @GreenpeaceUSA
      @GreenpeaceUSA  Před 4 lety +1

      @@ambzerambzer8800 Just 9% of plastic has been recycled. That leaves the majority of plastic waste at landfills, where it can end up in rivers or oceans, or in incinerators, which pollute our air. Plastic litter that isn't properly disposed can be transported by wind and rain into the sea. Products that go down the drain end up in our rivers and oceans as well. All in all, that's 12 million metric tons of plastic entering our ocean each year. To end ocean plastics, we need corporations to invest in alternative solutions and phase out single-use plastics.

      Thank for explaining. I think it's still important to recycle but it is also important to use less single-use plastics as you said, i'm always trying to encourage people to stop buying more plastic shopping bags when they have tons already. I hope to get involved in cleaning up our land and water from all this plastic, that doesn't need to be there.I admire Greenpeace so much, and am egger to understand more. Thank you

      There are places like New York City, and New Jersey, that put there garbage on barges and tow them out to sea. Once out far enough from land, the garbage is dumped into the sea. This practice started many years ago long before recycling. I no longer buy plastic water bottles. Even though I'm an avid recycler. I've started using metal and glass reusable water containers. Now I can add fresh lemon juice when I'm at home. Easy refills when away from home and traveling.
