This is the best. He's the best type of musician. He deals with stuff like this with such grace that I'm glad he was so self critical because these his mistakes are like shooting stars and his reactions restore my humanity. Now I really want to make Elliott Smith in Dark Souls or Bloodborne or Elden Ring or something.. I'm went so far off topic in just 1 sentence by accident.

ahh... the clips of him at the redfest concert make me sad. in the parts where he likely wasn't using (or at least wasn't as affected by his drug use), you could tell just how much messing up a song affected him. at the redfest concert, however, he almost becomes like a small child when he makes a mistake.. grabbing his head and biting his finger. as far as i know, he wasn't actually using there (though he does sound a bit drunk) but it's still kinda upsetting to witness when in comparison to his performances from the start of his career to around 2000. btw, what song was he playing at the very beginning? i can't seem to recognise it
I think he got pissed at himself like most of us would. I think he knew, as well as the fans, that he had a ton of songs that had ridiculous chord progressions as well as he knew tons of covers. If anyone had to play Angeles exactly like Elliott did so often with the “stop ‘n go” finger picking part etc etc being so rough… gonna mess up. I will say what I do blame this guy for. I hate playing guitar in tall/bar stools or standing. Gotta have it ride my knee to play at my best.
