Elderberry syrup is the first herbal remedy that got me onto my Green path, it brought me back from a 6-month persistent illness and now I make it from scratch with elder flowers, cinnamon, ginger and star anise. I have a black and tan 9-year-old German Shepherd. He still thinks he's a year old. Lol. Your new puppy is a cutie. Hazel must love the new playmate.

Dried herbs are so wintery, they were slowly dried, been waiting inside to shine their light when it is time for them. Just like lighting a candle made of beeswax from the summer months, when the sun is at rest, dried herbs don’t mind waiting patiently before getting lit in the winter, to shine the sun’s light inside in the winter days.
I love how old the pine tree outside of the cabin is, seems like a very kind one.

GRIMM MAKES ME SO HAPPY HHHHIIII LITTLE GUUUUYYYY, welcome to the family. 😭 Much love to you, and your family from Boston! And I just found out it's supposed to snow tomorrow on Christmas Eve and I almost started crying because I love when it snows on/around christmas. It hasn't snowed much here this year in the area of New England that I live in. If you do decide to come back, we miss you! 🤗
Edit: I'm just realizing that I've also been getting up around that time between night and morning to do crafting, as well. Strange.
We used to have a dog like Grim when I was little, Diana was my age but passed away when we were seven due to health issues. I hope Grim cares for you like Diana cared for me 💕

Wood stoves and pellets stoves are wonderful. We live in a 1500 square ft home, striving to downsize more, and our pellet stove is keeping our home cozy warm all winter.

Agreed! I'm in New England too and love the 4 seasons. Everything is covered in ice right now and the sunlight glittering off the trees is spectacular.

one thing I noticed for myself when I had more than one dog is that when I brought in a second puppy my first dog became a little depressed because the Puppy was demanding all the attention so just watch out for that ;)
what happens out on at least on the west coast is that the air pressure can change quickly so when low air pressure happens the smoke stays low, for me is a sign of incoming storm or rain, so low air pressure makes it so the smoke doesn't raise up, so a fireplace the smoke will come into the home for a little bit then raise back up this is low air pressure. I love fireplaces I used to always cook using them then were when got the wood stove it was out in the open so I could boil water and my favorite was to take Labrador tea that I would pick from Burn bog stick it in the pot and let the aroma fill the home. yes young puppies like people still see the magic everywhere
The amazing thing is not the wood stove but the family members that traveled across the country to install it. You talk about the dogs more than your brothers. They obviously love you beyond measure, you are very blessed.
they are not my brothers and I would talk about them more but they all asked that I maintain their privacy and I got permission for what I did share of them. It's their wishes to stay off the internet and I want to respect that. The dogs however are mine and I have the ability to share them readily without violating their privacy. I appreciate what you have to say but I chose to share only a bit about them out of respect and care for them. I am lucky and it is amazing that they came out here and I shared my gratitude with them while they were here. But I did so privately and personally I feel that that matters more than publicizing it.
I don't know why but no matter how well this videos are recorded, the cinematic-like sense, the soft and sweet voice, the music, the landscapes, the anecdotal narrative and beautiful Annie, I finish watching them feeling depressed, sad, like without hope. I know the purpose is the contrary but why do i feel like that? maybe too calm is not good for me and I just discover it or maybe I have some hidden traumas waiting to be healed. Anyway, your production is amazing, it makes me feel those sentiments.

Aww, we had a white German Shepard when I was a kid. He had the HUGEST ears. He was very protective of his family, unfortunately a bit too protective and bit the mailman more than once. My Dad had to make the decision to put him down when he was only two. It broke our hearts.

Those wild weeds often make the best medicine, don't they? I LOVE watching young Herbalists grow (pun intended) and discover and create. Elderberry syrup is a must for winter health. I like to add astragalus root too for the extra immune boost, oh and a squeeze of lime juice too for flavor. This syrup is such a delicious way to take your medicine. Great work, Annie!!!

Congrats on expanding your family and so glad you got a new woodstove and you're much warmer! Can relate somewhat as I grew up in my late grandmother's house built in 1776 near the Atlantic Ocean! We didn't get town water until the 1970s and only had well water and we didn't have any heat except for a woodburning stove until my older brother put in baseboard heating in the 1970s as well. I still live near the sea in old Yankee New England and while we don't have very harsh winters here in the Florida of New England on the Cape it still gets super windy here! I have an electric fireplace now that looks real and gives off some good heat, thankfully! Enjoy the winter and keep safe~ Blessed be. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Congrats on Grimm! Two dogs are always better than one! We have an old lady doggo and got a younger boy two years ago, and he has really brought her back to being more youthful and playful, and she has taught him how to be a proper dog 😂🤣😂 I can't imagine not having them both!

Man your making my rethink about getting another pup. I really want one and I think my German Shepard who loves all dogs would be a wonderful role model. I just need to wait to see if I’ll need to move this year before getting one. But you’ve inspired me to not wait to long.

In our case, the vets thought our old lady dog had cancer (almost three years ago lol, turns out thankfully they were wrong!) but we couldn't stand the idea of leaving her alone while we were at work for the rest of her days, and hoped that she would teach the new dog some things before she left us. We couldn't imagine not having a dog at home, so we kept an eye out and found our boy a couple months later.
As I said above, she thankfully didn't have cancer and she is doing super well! She gets kind of annoyed at him sometimes, but honestly, I don't blame her! 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Overall, he has encouraged her to be more playful, taught her how much fun toys are, taught her (annoyingly) how much fun it is to bark at the UPS person or the mail person, lol, and has got her running around playing in the yard again. She will be 15 on Christmas Eve and honestly you'd never know. It was such a great decision, even with the outcome we weren't expecting. :]

This is great ! I regret not having a wood fire here. I wanted to avoid the entire house smelling of smoke- but so much smoke comes in from the village anyway lol! And I have also two dogs- it’s so so beautiful. They have someone to talk to, who speaks there own language, as someone said.

My father trained German shepherds when I was a child, so I was brought up having these wonderful dogs around all the time. An adult GS is so majestic, the puppies are just goofballs breaking hearts everywhere :)

He is adorable❤️ I had half dark half / white german Shepherd. Now I have a Dalmatian and Lab. Dalmatian learned on his own to function as my pain dog. Warns me of migraines and higher pain peaks.
So excited for your new addition! We adopted our husky/german shepherd mix when he was still a puppy. When we first met him at the rescue where he was born, both ears were still floppy (same with his siblings). When we adopted him a few weeks later at 4 months old, one ear was still floppy. And almost 9 years later.... that one ear is still floppy! It's adorable and helps make him look more derpy and less intimidating. We like to joke that he's only "naughty" because he can only hear out of one ear and must not hear us, even though that's absolutely not the case at all :D

I’m now 68 still living in a city with my 30 year old Down Syndrome daughter and hate my life. I love her to bits of course but I hate the city. It’s nuts here right now. I have been looking everyday more than 3 years trying to find my country home, to no avail. It’s like something is telling me I will never achieve this but I can’t give up. My daughter and I drive into the country every single day. We talk to the cows, sheep, goats or horses that are out in the fields of other home owners. I cry a lot too. I have had white German Shepherds for the past 16 years. I can't imagine not having them with me. I've always loved the one ear stage. It was always funny to wake up and see which ear would be up today. And of course, the day that both ears stood up was always celebrated. I'm down to my last two. Littermates that will be 10 this spring. I dearly miss their mother and their sisters. I have had many dogs in my life, but none can compare to the white German Shepherd.

Congratulations on the new baby! I got my puppy on new years eve last year he has grown into a 100lb bully. His mom I guess was an American bulldog she must have been a big girl. He’s beautiful and a pain in my butt training him is so different compared to training my blue heeler. I love him so much and he loves love. 🥰
