2018 Dal-uy Festival of Lights Foundation University 69th founding anniversary

  • Foundation University celebrates the beginning of a new academic year through "Dal-uy," a festival of lights. Lighted lanterns made of recycled wood and plastics afloat the Rizal Boulevard as a creative means of the FU community to express hopes, aspirations, dreams and plans for the academic year ahead.
    Students, faculty, staff and alumni craft their personalized lanterns bearing messages of all sorts, involving individual to scholastic and societal concerns.
    "Dal-uy," also celebrates FU's 69th founding anniversary.
    In restrospect, Dr. Vicente G. Sinco, University of the Philippines' eighth President, desired to help the underprivileged and poor young populace to acquire higher education by founding the then Foundation College in July 4, 1949.
    Symbolically, the floating lanterns serve as a reminder of Dr. Sinco's undying hope for the youth of the Filipino nation.
    After the ceremonies, the lighted lanterns are being collected and will be re-used for the of Dal-uy celebrations in the next years.
