I've got a 2014 Volt with twice the miles. A car to swear by and not at. Quiet & smooth towncar that costs $1.40 charge to go 40 miles. Gas gets 35-38 mpg with A/C in Phoenix. Future classic now.

2013 with 130k miles, bought it last year with ~98k miles and put 35k on it in one year lol. no problems yet. averaged 80mpg, closer to 100mpg if i didnt count the long journey home after i purchased it. 45-55miles ev range, really helped putting the tire pressure up i think at 40psi. lots of these things getting to over 400k miles with no issues. only thing to worry about is the motor stater bearing and wheel bearings. everything else is easy to fix on your own. i would cut the antena on the onstar module fyi. my insurance is 24$/mo, after they jacked it up from 19$/mo

I like the Volt. The hybrid system sounds a bit similar to the Hyundai Elantra hybrid (they call it an HEV). It tries to run as an EV and uses a little generator to recharge the battery.

There’s actually 4 different drivetrain modes of how to configure the 2 motors and the engine. Every power source connects to the planetary gear set through clutches depending on its torque, so big motor, small motor, then engine. On the 2nd gen they added a 5th mode. Note, what I’m describing aren’t the drive modes displayed, but the physical configurations

Essentially the engine will drive the wheels directly over a certain speed where the gearing allows without lugging the engine. On the 2nd gen it’s 58km/h, not sure about the 1st gen but like similar.

can’t stand young rich people, I work 60 hours as an HVAC engineer and retired Military USN. Paycheck to Paycheck live in a shack. why was I recommended this just to remind me that life sucks and can’t even afford a single garage. 46 years old here, yeah, sometimes life sucks and I gotta mention it sometimes.
Other than that, we both own a Chevrolet Volt. So that’s pretty cool 😎.
