TY DC for everything you show us. I am back on the bench lowering my '50 Chevy shop truck. Can't say TY enough for this timely clinic. I've never rusted anything yet, it's an art all it's own. I will someday, and I again TY for this advice. have a great Sunday, best of health to all. Later!

I made mine a Matt dark green (camouflage green). It made it look like a service truck, I also mounted the sun visor on the front.

Rattle cans are all I use...now, anyway. Need to get my airbrush working. Its cheap and easy and no clean up, or very little. You are right, in the fact that the salt is hard to get off, but worth it. Very simple to do. Great video and can't wait to see her done!

So after you add the water and salt you use a different color of your choice. Then once that color is dry you use sand paper to rub off the salt? I just wanna make sure I'll do it right

What if I wanted several different colors of top coats to give the effect that the car had been multiple colors throughout its history? Would you primer>salt>paint>de-salt>re-salt>paint?

Hi Doc your patina is awesome, it looks so genuine. I love how patina cars are becoming popular I have always been a fan of it, even though my fellow auto painters and teacher think its a dumb fad. Realistic faux patina is something that is so lacking in the custom paint industry. I am in an advanced auto painting class and would love to use this technique on fauxing parts for a patina truck to match the existing panels. Will any granulated substance like sugar work as a salt substitute?

so KRylon is an enamel, right? I tried the hairspray technique (no salt) with testor's rattle can enamel and had a devil of a time just scraping off a little paint with a toothbrush.

What do you think the best primer would be for die cast metal. To weather or even to customise diecast cars?

I have a can of Plastikote Ruddy Brown primer on the way from Amazon, but in the meantime I used Krylon Ruddy Brown as my base coat, I had a hard time brushing the water on for the salt technique, the water just kept on beating right off, would it be better to use a spray mist bottle? Or is that just intrinsic with not using the plastikote primer? ( when I get the plastikote primer, will that problem be alleviated, will the water brush on evenly, and stay on the primer?) Thank you for your awesome clinics.
