      I think what Copycat means is that they don't just go up and down the sides of obstacles, but that they also go up and down the walls that make up the background. Which isn't THAT weird, but is pretty unique for a Mario enemy.

    After some consider, I think I’ve decided Mario Wonder has my favorite collection of brand new enemies in the whole series. I love how all of them feel naturally integrated into the Mario world, I love all the fun variants of old enemies, I love how almost all of them have their own dedicated level as to help them feel fully utilized. In a game that’s already incredibly creative, I rarely hear appreciation for the enemies, despite how important they are to the experience. Also my favorites are the Hanabihei and the Rolla Koopa.

    2:25 Its pronounced " Jump Toe-gey" ('toge' is Japanese for "spike" or "thorn").
    9:50 Kid Icarus
    10:38 If you actually eat Melon Piranha Plants as Yoshi, you can spit out the seeds, Yoshi Island style.
    10:39 That's "UMInoko" not Urninoko. "Umi" is Japanese for "sea" or "ocean". "Noko" comes from "Nokonoko", the Japanese name for Koopa Troopa. So "Uminoko" is basically "Sea Koopa".
    13:49 Its pronounced "Ta-kay-bo". From "Ta-ke", Japanese for "bamboo".

  • @OtakuUnitedStudio
    @OtakuUnitedStudio Před 7 měsíci

    There IS one weird thing about Whohoos - owls don't normally hang upside down. But it does LOOK like a perfectly normal owl otherwise.
    Super Mario Bros. 2 had snake enemies, named Cobrat. They could be found in either pots or in sand, and there were two varieties - one that would jump out and chase you, and another that would pop up and spit a bullet like a Snifit, acting similarly to Fiery Piranha Plants. They're also called Serponts, with Tsubo-chan just being the internal file name.
    A lot of the Wonder enemies listed here are just using the game's internal names, but have official English ones listed on the Nintendo Japan website. Uminoko is Snortoise, Erin is Trompette, Hanabihei is Baboom (though it might actually be meant to be Bob-oom, as it's considered a Bob-omb subspecies), Takebo (Tah-Kay-Bow) is Gamboo (Bamboo Goomba), Morocon is Kerpop, Chin Anago is Sluglug, Slidon is Shoomp (?), and Meramera is L'il Scortcher. My guess as to why it's not L'il Hothead instead is that regular hotheads (the fireballs that travel across platforms or rails) are also present, and they aren't supposed to be related. The moving doors are also named Noknok which I think is a peak Mario name pun.
    Oddly though, some that seem like they would have official names don't - the "Dark Koopas" are just "Dark Nokonoko", despite the "Dark Mario" actually having a name - Rift Mario. I don't know for sure, but I think they may have been added after this video was released.
    The Rrrumba being a bug inside of a rock reminds me of the Pokémon Dwebble and Crustle, who are hermit crabs that live inside rock shells.
    The thing I find weirdest about Skedaddlers is that they have Yoshi-like shells on their backs. Which means they might be related to either the Koopa or Yoshi genera.

  • @ArendAlphaEagle
    @ArendAlphaEagle Před 9 měsíci +1

    Something about the Robbirds I've seen literally no one comment on but is very obvious given their name, is when they come across any coin in their path, _they take them and have said coins trail behind them._ They're literal robber birds.
    The Hakanderu bird enemies are also weird in the sense that their single foot is actually a suction cup, which makes sense give than they carry objects and let them loose when they're above Mario (like the Albatoss from SMB2 or the Goonie from Yoshi's Island).
    Many would compare the Tsubochan snakes to Cobrats from SMB2, but honestly, snakes and pots or jars appear to be common in enemy designs (probably due to snake nests and snake charming). Tsubochan's stout appearance and fanged jaws remind me of Nyololin from Mario Land 1.
    I'll be honest, the Slidon and Skedaddler enemies don't deserve the top spot AT ALL, IMO. To me, the Snootle is WAAAAAY weirder than either of those, because at the very least I can describe what Slidons and Skedaddlers are: One is a giant baby Thwomp that slides across a surface, and the other is a running chipmunk that shoots seeds. I have NO IDEA what a Snootle is supposed to be, it looks like a green flower-circle thing with an O-shaped mouth? Looking at its 3D model at a different angle definitely doesn't make it much easier to identify it. Names in other languages seem to suggest it's a _pig_ of all things, but to be honest, it looks absolutely NOTHING like a pig. Snootle is just a REALLY weird-looking enemy.

    I think the sea turtle thing is my favorite enemy in this game. We already had Land Koopas, about time we got a sea version. It’s slow on land, but nimble underwater, and moves quite differently than the Koopa, so I don’t understand the criticism of similarity. Armads and Snails can also be used like Koopa Shells, I think it’s nice that we have more enemies like this now, kicking shells is a super fun and fundamental Mario mechanic, so limiting it to just Koopas and Buzzy Beetles would suck.
