  • Pu'er fanatics often distinguish dry and wet storage for pu'er cakes. But is the level of air humidity the only factor between these two styles? Gabriele does an in-depth examination of the physics behind water absorption and different measures of humidity to find out what factors to pay attention to.

I remember how someone told me a mollier chart would be overkill just 3weeks ago ;). And now we are here looking at absolute water in the air and co.

Overkill for a intro video... This is more advanced 😁

I don't care if it's overkill or not, I love this level of information! One of the things that fascinates me the most about tea is how there's so many variables that can affect it. At first it could feel daunting and unpredictable, but with a bit of research and experimentation things start to make sense. So much to learn and enjoy. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!

Thanks for the feedback Willem! This video was definitely one of the most long to prepare, so I am glad that the content is appreciated! 😊

I believe this is why when they make ripe puerh they cover it with blankets, to keep the heat generated by the fermentation in, to create more fermentation.

Those fermenty critters, bacteria, yeast, fungi and mold all need heat and humidity to do their work.

Right, they keep the heat generated by fermentation, which is an exothermic process. However it is still disputed whether the same process take place in the shu Puer production as in sheng Puer ageing, especially in dry storage where fermantation should barely occur.

Thank you Gabriele ! That was the kind of geeky information that I was looking for :) I hope to learn more in your next video :)
And Happy New Year btw :)

Gabriele, I am interested in next video, for sure. I also have some puerh collection and I would love to have some more info about it. Thanks for great video and sharing your knowledge!

I still didn't have the time to prepare and film it, but it is on the to-do list. There are a few other videos first and then I will do the third one about Puer storage to cover temperature and humidity control at home.

Thank you very much Jan! It is taking sooo much time for the tea community to know is, share your thoughts on social media, if you can. And let us know if there is any particular content or type of videos you would like to see more in the future.
