I read reviews on the linked product page of laptops falling after a few months because the tape failed. I can't see how that is a good solution.

@@mahzapex I mean, if you want to have high quality video and have a DSLR lying around, there's no harm in using it. My point was focusing on a simple setup is often better than overcomplicating things.

I have the 98” version of this desk top from ikea mounted on an autonomous sit stand base and that same chair, it’s used to run about $349 but they have HELLA jacked up the price recently. I went with the grey version of the Alex drawers to closer match the color of my studio walls.
Nice - I originally was going to buy that desk well, but I was building this during the lockdowns and it was difficult getting anything from IKEA at the time. Happy with the butcher block though!

Love it, except a few things i would change: im worried about the mac laptop overheating under your desk, i would say maybe a vertical stand behind the monitor is better, also I'm wondering if the vertical monitor is too far from the main one, understanding the studio monitors need to be somewhere, i personally bought speaker stands to help with this, cheers :)

I highly recommend getting your monitor speakers either off the desk or atleast get them on ear height. It'll really sound alot better (more accurate)

The link to monitor you recommended doesn't look the same as you use. It has more of a bottom bezel with some buttons. Which model did you actually use?

Did you have to use a hdmi to USB-C straight to the laptop?
I maxed out my Cadigit Hub - So yea I used an HDMI to USBC-C straight to my Macbook

Yo! Thank you! I built that on a whim with some scrap wood I had lying around. Honestly, I would look into the other mounting option I posted in the description. Hey Dane! I actually just go directly into my laptop Thunderbolt port with the Apollo. I wanted to keep my interface direct - Sounds like you have good taste in gear!

Do you think going with bigger speakers (hs8) could eliminate the need for the base speaker? I dont have the space for it…
Yes - you will get a lot more low-end with hs8 or any larger speaker, but Yamahas are known to have a flat sound. Check out the JBL or KRK Rokit monitors, they tend to have a little more low end than Yamaha. Hope that helps
