I saw that this was uploaded to longplays as the SNES version with the better graphics and stuff, so I decided to do it in its original glory.

Just beat this game for the first time tonight. This game is very well-designed, not only for 1990, but even today. I see now why it is so highly regarded among Mario fans; it's an amazing game.
My father usually never plays video games at all, and even he was a huge fan of this game during the 90s.
Gotta love how in Bowser's letter he starts with "Yo!"
Bowser was hip before being hip was even a thing in video games.
KirbyCoolKid8, he even started with this phrase in the SNES and Gameboy Advance version. Did you notice that either? Because I do.
KirbyCoolKid8 I like cool bully bowser more then monster scary dragon bowser.
2:01:55 if you don't want to scroll for years to find it
also epilepsy warning unless you're watching at a lower framerate
and also that letter doesn't appear if you warp to W8 instead of clearing W7… except in the GBA remake
Bowser was hip in Mario 3 before being hip (using terms like “Yo!” “Wazzup!” “Doo” [like around the beginning of Shark Tale] and “Bro”) was even mainstream in America (if not the whole world, since it is a Northern American thing).
vidaa82 What do you mean? I don’t see it.
This game is almost 30 years old...wow.. just like a great wine
You leave it in the basement and forget about it until a dinner party?
*vine
(jk)
Wouldn't recommend drinking 30 year old wine.
Now it's over 30.
Is it just me? Or is the music so so good?
It isn't, it was very, very well-done. Good job, Kondo.
It's Just Good
No matter how repetitive/shortly lasted/looped it can get, we cannot help but wanna listen to the Mario 3 soundtrack again and again for how catchy and 1980s (Nintendo) it is!
@@kieranstark7213 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@Raun Smith You Liar!
This game has aged amazingly, especially for the NES!
Agreed, it made us cringe when we saw someone thumb up a comment about why Mario 3 why on a list of worst Mario games instead of a best list (there are no actual honourable mentions, unless they could count as “entries that didn’t make it to the list for reasons”) being that “it didn’t age as well as the Mario games by The Software Toolworks”.
@@kieranstark7213 the levels in SMB3 in the final world is equally insane.
And the only possible way Mario 3 could be even more amazing than it already is so by becoming Super Mario Bros. 3Mix!
Oh man... the memories... the nostalgia! Watching this playthrough and listening to the musics gave me mixed feelings of happiness and sadness... happiness because of the good times I had while playing this during my childhood, with my dad and friends, and sadness, because those times are long gone...
This game is legendary!
Agreed..
Oh my goodness!!! My childhood has returned. My brother used to curse this game out like there was no tomorrow. It was hilarious. He would get so mad at the game and start crying. Mario 3 for life!!!
The music for Ice World always freaked me out, it sounds like a horror movie! 😳
I love how once they got the Hammer Bros Suit they just resisted the urge to become anything else, ducking to the music and spastically avoiding enemies in order to protect the suit. I know most people always associate SMB3 with the Racoon or Tanuki suits, but for me the Hammer Suit was a brilliant addition they didn't return to for a long time.
I was said to see it ultimately go later in the run.
The Hammer Bros Suit is also the quikest way to kill Bowser. Throw hammers at him, and within a few hits, he dies, no need to let him break the floor and fall to his doom.
@@Bloodreign1 is NES version of Ninja Gaiden has the same dreadful GAME OVER screen like the arcade version or just a regular game over screen instead?
Due to it's rarity and power the hammer bros suit was my favorite when I was little and I still think of it as the greatest powerup in game.
The Hammer Suit can also kill other enemies which you normally cannot with fireballs, I believe. Bowser takes only 4 hits with the hammer suit, and the Koopalings take 3.
They really should've brought this one back more often, though I do love the boomerang suit from Super Mario 3D World as a good replacement.
I'm so glad I found this channel! So many great titles to watch and relive my childhood and thank goodness no commentary! Love you guys!!! 💋
My dad played the original NES version of this game many, many years ago! I have the Virtual Console version of this cool NES game on my Nintendo Wii, and it's really awesome! Great walkthrough!
Your dad was probably a child at the time ! I was 12 when I played this game (41 now)... ;)

@@stef5152 Im guessing you were a bit younger, bc it came out in America, February 1990. Unless you played it a few years after it was released.
Best nes game ever, and one of The greatest Mario games too...
just as amazing as a GBA port
When you can't beat the game but still want to know about the levels that you haven't reached yet, so you watch the playthrough instead😭😂
one of my favourite games as a kid :-)
It's wierd when the right side glitches green and others.
ya
I'm 24 and this is the first game I ever remember playing. Favourite game ever made
ThatTr1F0rceGuy why how?
Blayeg He watches AVGN. This comment is meant to be taken as comedy.
It's hard for me to believe how old this game is... and it still resonates with me at the age of 29.
yeah and it's still a masterpiece.
I’m 42 and still have my original mom bought us in 87 I believe… had power glove..advantage controllers…gameboys…game genie…still break it out and play punch out once every 8 or 10yrs..part 3 is probably #1 game ever on nes and that’s a bold statement..also have an intellivjsion with intellivoice module and burgertime..
@@ASTR0TALKSPHILOSOPHY its been 35 years now since this game came out.

@@charlesmullins3238 It was released in America on February 12, 1990 but came out in Japan on October 23, 1988.
Okay ya . I’d say this is the holy grail of all Mario games . I’ve played them all, and for some reason this one always stuck out as the most fun and classic
Is awesome see this great classic with a HD encode and 60fps in CZcams! I love this game!
Shigeru Miyamoto is a genius
The best NES game. So iconic for its time, even though I like the SNES remaster more.
The greatest game of all time.
Damn right :)
Actually not but still a great one
I love this game.
My old man opinion says:
1- Mario 3
2 - Rust
3 - HOMM3 Complete Edition
@@man-man4180 .....
I remember when my brother and I got this game and first played it. It blew our minds!
You only died once, but more than halfway through, messed up in the matching game once, but still finished, and got all stars at the end of each level. That.. Was.. Awesome
He die two times but we understand
How badass is Mario? He defeated the Sun...with a turtle shell
Mario is better than Kratos.
Francisco J. Rodríguez agreed
I bet the sun ain't bright at all!
Mario can defeated the Sun with turtle shell just stand still and let it comes towards you
Mario is a star buster confirmed.
I love this too much, brings back memories. Thanks for sharing! 😄😄
I love that Jump-Sound and when Mario walks in a tube. So many memories. ^^
It‘s so satisfying to watch your play. Good work man!
World of Longplays is so good at these memory games!
30 years later and still it's the best looking game in history
What about others
I wouldn't say "best looking" due to graphical limitations, but the art style is definitely very impressive for the NES era, and they managed to pull off some pretty unique color schemes which make it stand out and maintain some realism while also being more cartoony than the original Super Mario Bros. That's what I love most about the art style of this game, is that it's a lot smoother around the edges compared to the original Super Mario Bros, and they really knew what they were doing with such limited tech.
Memories. The very first video game I completed as a kid. The proudness I felt that day has almost gone unmatched to this day, over 20 years later. Level 4, world 7: Nice one. Excellent really.
Brings back so many great memories!
One of my favorite games of Super Mario Series.
Super Mario Bros. 3 is acclaimed by many critics as one of the greatest video games of all time. It was a commercial success upon release, which was partly influenced by its promotion in the 1989 film The Wizard. Super Mario Bros. 3 is the third-best-selling NES game, having sold over 17 million copies worldwide. The popularity of the game also inspired a short-lived animated television series.
If you are played this game, You made the greatest Childhood!
Error: From the title screen, the copyright info dates from October 23, 1988, where this game was released in Japan, there is missing the year 1990 for North America, and 1991 for Europe.
The North American game, was released in February 9, 1990, with bug and glitch fixed but those glitches were escaped,
and European Version was released in August 29, 1991.

Super Mario Bros. 2 USA was released 2 weeks before of Super Mario Bros. 3 release.

One of the best games and music ever. Nostalgia 100
Ear worm music. I still hum this in my head while strolling down the street. So many tempos for various moods.
Other than SMB/Duck Hunt that came with my NES, this was the only other game I ever owned for my NES. I stand by my choice.
Best 2D Mario. And this isn't nostalgia talking, I'm playing through this game for the first time at the moment. The amount of creativity put into each and every level is absolutely incredible and still unmatched 3 decades later.
Don't you find that frustrating when the extra life mushroom 🍄 goes the opposite direction from you?
Yes 😂😂😂
Key to remember, bump from bottom left, mushroom goers right, bump from bottom right, mushroom goes left. Same way with the Starmen.
It's designed to do that
I do!
It's designed to come out of the block moving in the opposite direction than you. If you're on the right side of the block when it starts moving, it goes left. Left side of the block, it goes right.
This game looks WAY BETTER on HD! As far as Mario games go, this was even better than Super Mario World. You had more power-ups, and more diversity. A lot of secrets in Super Mario World were way too cryptic to find unless you had a guide. This was a game where a lot of elements could be found just by playing the game
You're not correct. but it's an opinion so whateva
Both games could be cryptic, but this game DEFINETELY had a few secrets which were WAY more difficult to uncover than Super Mario World. I'm mostly thinking about the secret coin ships or some of the hidden powerup rooms. SMW had text boxes telling you about secret exits and game mechanics. The only written hints in SMB3 came from Princess Peach's letters at the end of each world. Overall, though, I would argue both games had incredibly well-designed secrets which left just enough hints for players to uncover through their own experimentation.
Both games are awesome in general, and their strengths and weaknesses really balance out well, so it's hard to say which one's better. Personally, I think Super Mario World wins by a small margin because it's more replayable than Super Mario Bros. 3, but that's just my view.
The best memories of my life
karla makeup this means you have a sad life
sheng long productions How do you know?! 😠
I still love this game. And you damn pro man even its fun watching u playing
those were the days when i was still a young boy. the game that i used to finish in weeks was only done here in 2 hrs...lols
I USED TO PLAY THIS EVERY HOUR OF EVERYDAY WHEN I WAS YOUNG HOLY FLIP
Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka were the dynamic duo for developing this game. Always something into looking for.
You guys are the best! I don't think I can do these things.
I've played this games numerous times over.... I never knew until watching this that you could swim under the boats in the 8th World like that. You learn something new everyday. Awesome walk through. At least you utilized the different suits, unlike some other walk through's I've seen. Only thing I wish you had shown was how Statue Mario is capable of killing/popping away the Rotodisc's, and I think Podoboo (the fire ball) as well.
this game bring back memories I miss it
classics and now a days, the whole gaming world is different and not for the better
I’ll always love this game.

I got this when it came out for the 25th anniversary on Wii Nintendo recently played it with my brother both now in our 30's the memories as a kid playing it still is a great game unlike some of the Mario games today
Wow this is nostalgia at its most intense.
In the almost 30 years since Nintendo still haven't brought out a Mario game that betters this one for me.
I love this game so much!!
Oneold,good,old school game.Just incredible
1:38:47 I have to say, I loved that psyche. When I first played this level, I thought it showed Lemmy as a trickster.
I grew up with the All Stars version of this game. When I downloaded this from the Wii shop channel I was shocked by the quality.

Later NES versions use "You can only miss twice!" instead, so as to fit it in the textbox.
The SNES version uses "Miss twice and your out!" anyway, though.
Wow! Mario is almost 35 years old since 1985 now here we are with tremendously improved Mario games such as Mario Party 9(2012) Mario Party 10(2015) Super Mario Party(2018) and even Super Mario Maker 2(2019) I was a baby 14 years after Super Mario Bros(1985) Still play the old games to this day and I'm almost 21
Awesome, nice gameplay
This dude wont forgive a single coin despite having like 50ups
Mario con colita, siempre te llevo muy dentro de mi corazón. :-)

The color transition looks so good!
I mean, it doesn't look the best, but that is NOT bad for a game released 3 decades ago.
Awesome! I couldn't even reach the final stage when I played this at elementary school age.
Happy 35th Anniversary, SUPER MARIO BROS 3!
omg i loved to play this game when i was little and now i dont have it anymore but i loved this game so much i used to play it with my brother and we loved it i so happy i found it ;))))

Awesome gameplay, never cleared this one completely

The way you swam under the airship level in world 8. I always thought that was lava! Hah!
SUPER MARIO BROS 3 is a perfect example of being a true masterpiece of a game.
The music is amazing
Top 3 greatest game ever in nes
when you crouch to the beat sometimes it makes me feel good
I just recently got this on eShop and I really REALLY like this game! It makes me want an NES super bad, but I'm glad I was able to give this game a try!
Also it was on the Wii U, not on the Switch
I love this game. Even though I never played it on the NES, I can still enjoy it with the godsend known as Virtual Console.
Bons tempos!
I did not know you could beat Bowser with the Hammer Brother suit. Nice!
I love your dancing to the beat Mario.
good game,, good memory... feel relaxed see this video... ahhh 😏

You are a super Expert and a great gamer!
Cuando salió la consola NES con Super Mario Bros (uno), parecía que era un Atari mejorado, pero este juego Mario 3 está muy avanzado en gráficos y en jugabilidad. Aquí se demostró de lo que era capaz la consola original de Nintendo.
