Lindsay is wrong, the scenario Pain wants to create is literally what we are in, in real life. The only reason the world is at ''peace'' is cuz of those nukes that are always on stanby and because of the fear. We are literally living proof that Pain's idea would and does work XD

that's what's really interesting about Pain, Lindsay said that he isn't reinventing the cycle but basically adding to it and making it bigger and it makes sense, the cycle is not possible to be broken so using that very cycle that prevents peace to create peace is the only actual solution, tho in a world of magical powers multiple answers can be achieved but Pain alone is the one with the most realistic idea that can apply to the real world, despite obviously being a puppet himself I truly think Pain was the one who understood humanity and the nature of the world the most in the show

Lindsay is just a teenager. Every healthy teenager who never lost anything is idealist but not realist, they say and move by what they think is right for them. What Pain had planned was actually the truth in real life. The reason we dont see any wars after the last war (WW2) is many countries have nukes standby to destroy each other and that fear leads to the peace although it is not truly peace

Konoha and the other major villages definitely look bad right here. They trampled all over the hidden rain in those wars and then just left? I mean aren't we supposed to think of Konoha as good? They couldn't help rebuild a nation they just fucked over?
Also, we all know everlasting peace can't be achieved, so i have to push back on Lindsay for calling Pain dumb for only believing in cycles of peace. Thats the only kind of peace that exists.
To her credit she is right about real peace, people have to spread goodness and hope that the peoples lives they touch spread it as well, but thats definitely a slow process and the incentives against peace may be too strong in a lot of scenarios. (Resources for example)
Also, the people suffering in the mean time are just supposed to wait for peace to be achieved? What should the people of the hidden rain have done when their village was being fucked over? Tough situations all around and this is why i love pain. He brings a lot of complexity to the series.

    • @BOLDcast
      @BOLDcast  Před 3 lety +15

Yeah that’s what I find funny about her perspective now looking back, is that she basically gives the same answer that Naruto gives at the end of the arc funnily enough, it’s just difficult to hear it from someone who just went on a rant about how much she hates Pain, but if you remember, even while listening to Nagato’s tale, and even after, Naruto admits that he still does hate pain. So in a way, Lindsay is still just as big brained as ever and just as understanding of the greater point. She actually has the same MBTI as Naruto lol

@@BOLDcast Lol it's all good. Her feelings about pain are valid. I watch because she makes great observations and you guys have a good back & forth. But pain is super fucked up and easy to hate but the story is also framed from Naruto's perspective so it's easy to side with Konoha.
If we'd watched "Nagato" and the story started from his childhood and we saw him eventually get revenge on the leaf and the other big villages who fucked his home we'd have a very different take.
But pain is willing to listen as he proves at the end of the arc even if i have problems with it. Can't wait to see the rest of the reactions. Have a great day 👍

That's ignorance. Globalisation and capitalistic approaches to conflict is the reason why there is no war. Instead of actual war, now its economic exploitation. Nukes have very less to do with peace. Even if USA decides to wage war against China and win, the economic factors would make it less desirable than the current scenario where America can easily exploit Chinese citizens and let both governments profit. If anime could solve such complex problems, 4.5 billion people wouldn't be living under 4 dollars a day.

I am not just spouting text book bs but am telling you how globalisation works. Why did the British empire give up on all the colonies? Because of profits. Countries like the banana republics are ruined and the average people in those countries live in worse conditions than we can imagine. Syrian kids are living in fear of being bombed.
Nuclear deterrence being the primary peacekeeper is a horrible myth. We have come to a point where wars are completely financial. There is no potential gain in fighting Russia even if they didn't have nukes, and Afghanistan is still in ruins. If you have a statistic data then I'll be happy to see it. Most of the times in the real world, pain's method has been used by nations, the world war resulted in UN, so they made a UN after US bombed Japan. No one can say which is wrong and right because those who say Pain is wrong, they haven't got any idea how peace can be made and don't know what to do except just wait and watch like a fool, the OTHER SIDE can't exactly say that pain is right but what he is doing will bring peace however momentary, who knows that it even might bring peace for a very long time obviously not indefinitely.

Sasuke was way more powerful than Naruto, it was even QUOTED by Kurama. And theoretically, it's true. Sasuke had the Chakra from all of the tailed beasts while Naruto only had a piece of them, so how is that logical that Sasuke didn't win? He didn't even use all their Chakra into that attack.

Carson you could show this To Lindsay or read It yourself, these are Really good reflections about pain's stuff and these current episodes. You could even make a special separated video about pain's speech and then discuss about It. I'd Love to see It.
The whole Pain's speech makes sense because it's real life Stuff. Pain's ideologies are so Dope because they apply to Our Real world, they are reasonable things to do.
Pain isnt contradicting himself when he starts referring to himself as "an ordinary Man" ( he's dropping his pretense of beeing a "God" to truly have a heart-to-heart conversation with naruto as fellow disciples because he truly wants Naruto to understand his motives and see things from his perspectives ). We as the audience generally side with Naruto and the hidden Leaf because they're the "main characters" of the story. Pain is "GIVING VOICE" to others here in the world that also suffer.
I totally agree when Pain says "Humans are not the most intelligent creatures", due to the fact that we're essently a virus on the planet because we literatelly destroy other species and the environment of our planet, so yeah biologically speaking pain is 1000% correct. On the other hand, From our perspective (human perspective) pain is mad because he wants to Destroy nations and people? ( That's The same thing that the Leaf has done too and great nations do today in our real world as well , i'm wrong?? )
Plus Pain is "GIVING VOICE" to other nations ( in this case he means especially small nations, like his, which was devasted because the Leaf started the War ) that also suffer in the world, why is it ONLY Far And OK for the hidden Leaf to have peace and justice when everybody else in The world also suffer Pain??
    Lmao
He's calling out the hipocrisy Naruto and The Leaf are trying to justify themselves.
Pain's Idea for achieving peace IS MAD (mutually assured destruction), which is the same system thats in place in OUR REAL WORLD today to deter nuclear War. He wants a world where M.A.D will keep the peace for a while and when it breaks, when people use tail Beats, they"ll experience pain again, and That pain will force them to Go back to the period of peace. This will continue over and over, that pain will keep humanities violent Nature in check, allowing peace to exist. You can definitely disagree with Pains ideias of achieving peace, however with his marvelous speech You Just can't because he's spitting Facts after Facts here. Thanks a Million kishimoto for creating the masterpiece of the show called "Lord Pain". Pain's is My favorite character in all Animes. For me One of the Greatest characters Ever created in fiction. Easily top 10. So Lit. By Far The Best Written character kishimoto created. Not Itachi nor Any other character beats Pain as a character in this series.

    Here in Pain's defence :
If his plan of peace doesn't bring a permanent solution to the endless cycle of hatred and is only a momentarily solution then how come Naruto's way of thinking and his noble ideals are good enough to bring a everlasting peace?
I agree to the fact that power in a single hand can be refered to as dictatorship, we all know that's it a curse even if we compare it to the present world, also if we take real world in consideration and say "shinobi villages/lands as real countries" u can clearly see that there is no such thing as *TRUE PEACE* there are always countries fighting for land, resources, terrorism etc. They are weak and hollow inside cuz there are always things such as murders, theft, fraud and not to mention rapes. So for me this idea of peace by simple and generous methods is a no go. On the other hand by pain's methods there can atleast be some momentarily peace and that will be good enough cuz that my friend is going to be the purest form of peace with no weak spots at all.

the allegory is what stops wars between these great nations.... like the usa germany brittian russia japan, what stopped those great wars.... the threat of the tailed beast (atom) bomb. nations have pease between wars of course, but the 2nd great ninja war was jariahs fight the 3rd great ninja war was when kakashi was a teenager, this has been going on and on, and in our world it wasn't much diffrent, untill mutually assured destruction by means of the atom bomb, the major powers of the world haven't made direct war with each other for about 80 years, that's insane historically, the irony is that we know it causes more proxy wars and lesser nations still get the worst end, but this story also comes out of japan, the only nation to be hit by the atomic bomb, twice, to end the war, is it stupid? perhaps... but in real life..... well, do we have a better way that actually works? we don't have a pure hearted superhero who's strong enough to singe handedly stop the baddies, and even if we did we'd need them to be able to scout out all the underhanded schemers, like a supernarutobatman

Its not lindsey's fault i think....that was our first reaction of when pain killed kakashi and destroyed the village(in mind he killed jiraiya as well). We can say that she's being biased and all but its obvious.... if we wouldn't have saw nagato's story, i don't think we would've liked the character as we do now and (SPOILER) he (nagato) who has given up on everything and wants "peace" was opposite of jiraiya's determination of bringing peace to the world... and when he saw the same determination in naruto.... he understood his mistake and to atone for his sins he sacrifices himself to save the village so i won't exactly call it "talk no jutsu"... but yeah... we love the character because we know what made him this
Btw love your reactions... react on black clover sometime

Lindsay is too biased against Pain and not really understanding his speech. There are a lot of proxy wars going on in the world. This applies to today. Ppl dying, losing family members, homes etc. when they become the next Pain, what will you say to them? Pain is nuanced and his speech is one of the best. Wished Lindsay gave more nuanced reply than saying “ he is wrong, hate him”. If you can feel Konoha Pain, then you should feel Pains’ Pain what happened to their land, family after the Wars.

It's not momentary peace. Pain wants to create a big power able to judge those who dare hurt any person. (yeah, like an actual state) Pain said "Humans can't understand each other and they never will" just like real humans. We live under the state protection, we've donated our "strength" to the state, so the state will give us protection. That what's pain wants. The realist solution ever.

Makes sense to me when tragedy came to the US in 9/11 everyone grieved, they all felt that pain. As Ibiki the interrogation specialist guy said “pain is the most reliable form of communication” which is sad. So eventually America stopped grieving and planned ahead what to do but of course didn’t have all the facts and more deaths occurred.
It reminds me the movie Watchmen, where Ozymandias is responsible for 50 million deaths. In order to stop a nuclear war, all that war was stopped because of the pain that suddenly befell everyone. Imagine something liken that happening in real life? That type of disaster would teach everyone through pain to become a pacifist...
