This is something Hollywood still can't make a movie with a storyline and character development like the old-school Stephen Chow movie can. It's a timeless action comedy with a blend of romance. Always made me chuckle every time I watched it.

That is what Pep Guardiola thinks, up to now it didn't bring him so many CL after his experience in the strongest Barcelona of all time. In last CL final Ancelotti had a GK that parried instead of doing 10.000 passes per game, and that paid out. :)

No one could recreate what Stephen chow did with Shaolin soccer and Kung Fu hustle. Such classics and so unique.
Many have tried, none succeeded it
I recently rewatch Shaolin Soccer and Kungfu Hustle, its ridiculous how those two movies hold up through time, and still packing a lot of entertainment, a lot of subtle writing, like how the keeper grip dent the bar etc...
The translations here are absolute garbage. Same on the DVD/Blu-rays.
Makes me want to write better translations for this and Kung Fu Hustle....
For some reason, HK movies always have such terrible english translations, and it's really a shame.

Stories need a conflict other than "main character is perfect and just needs to be told they're perfect enough times." Those two movies give real character development and struggles that make you root for the main characters. ❤

@@putin2918 no it really isn't....it just seems like it's the pinnacle because Hollywood has a monopoly on movies that get shown internationally but for the most part all of the films showcased at the Oscars are all American and there are perhaps one or two Foreign films, but there are film awards all over the world and Stephen Chow has won numerous awards in Asia for his movies, same as Jackie Chan, the reason Jackie wanted an Oscar so badly though was because he made films in America and didn't get any recognition for them at all, the Rush Hour movies, The Protector, Cannonball Run, Rumble in the Bronx, the Big Brawl were all Jackie's attempts at trying to break into the American film industry....unlike Jackie and Jet Li that actually made a few films for Western audiences, Stephen Chow has never attempted to appeal to the West with his films, his films are mostly targeted at an Asian audience, they just so happen to be distributed to the West and become popular among Western audiences because they're so good, so he doesn't need to strive for an Oscar when he's won awards already in China
Fun Fact: This movie is a masterpiece for those who don't understand football, and a pain for those who do.

Must have watched it over 100 times, this and baseketball when i was under 10.
Quite a contrast in movies :P Loved sports growing up.
