Every single one of those (except maybe 1 or 2) describes the struggles Ive been going through for 39 years now. I also believe I have ADHD and its a constant battle. I work as a software engineer, was very average in school and dropped out of university and I am self taught. I was surprised to find that I had an IQ of at least 145 which I actually believe doesnt mean anything, I am very good at visial patterns and problem solving but thats about it. I can barely remember to eat and unless I have the exact same meal I eat everyday in my freezer, I just cant eat. A smart person would be able to reason around these sorts of issues. I have 1 friend who I have known for 31 years and havent made a single friend as an adult, I crave socialising until I have been invited somewhere or have a commitment and then it seems like I want nothing more than to hide away. I have two daughters and only since seeing them begin to struggle with similar issues, sensory, gut, food, mutism etc that I realised perhaps Im not am imposter to consider it. Thank you for your videos, I have watched a few over the last couple of days and I am determined to get a diagnosis, if not for me, definitely for my daughters as I dont want them to struggle like this all their lives and wonder why they feel so broken and different.

Can relate to you to some extent. I am currently a teenager at the moment of writing my comment, and my IQ is 133 as of my last test in 2023. I also want to work on some sort of an IT job, but I do not have ADHD. Only things I encounter frequently are that I feel like I am too different to people, I cannot study in so much public noise. But to say more, I find myself to resonate with like a fourth or third of all symptoms in this video. I see the future, as a challenge for myself, but a bleak adventure with a slow recovery from my childhood trauma. I have not have actual friends in real life for 5 years straight, and it seems like will try to make, but they will not be the actual ones.

It's problematic either way. But, if I had the ability to wave a magic wand and fix things, I'd probably merge AS with SChizoid Personality Disorder and finally fix the problem once and for all. Merging AS into ASD just meant that there is more over diagnosing of schizophrenia spectrum disorders than there should be in order to avoid having to deal with the mess that happens when you get out there the edges of the autistic spectrum. If you go by the diagnostic criteria. A combined AS/ScPD diagnosis would help to improve that dramatically as ScPD is basically just the extreme masking, extreme alexithymia version of autism. Or, the extremely autistic form of schizophrenia.

I recently got ahold of a psychiatric report of mine from 7 years ago & discovered that mild autism spectrum disorder was listed under the diagnoses, and that I was was showing symptoms at 10 but, back then, was diagnosed with complex PTSD, ADHD, schizoid personality traits and Reactive Attachment Disorder instead. I still have PTSD & RAD as well as mild neurocognitive disorder from an accident. There was also lots in the report about extreme social awkwardness, not having common sense, not detecting social cues, and poor coordination as a preteen.
I'm 33 now, I have had caregivers from my past suggest I have autism but I'd always say they were probably seeing symptoms of other things. After reading that report I now believe it & have only started learning about it properly. Thank you for your informative content!

I'm 35, and spent 5 years fighting to get an Asperger's/ASD diagnosis, only to be told (despite ticking almost every box possible) it's all down to my traumas only! 😩 If they'd done half the tests on me that they did on my friend, AND let me have a more reliable witness (not insisting on my mum / talking to my school friend who actually knows me and remembers stuff) then I bet I would've got a diagnosis! I'm still unsure whether to appeal it (a couple of years later) as I don't wanna put myself through that hope/dismissal meltdown again. After I was rejected, my sister got her diagnosis in about a month, from a different place. The cruel irony? She was the one originally fighting me NOT TO get diagnosis for myself and my son. (He's diagnosed ASD&ADHD now and gets the extra support he needs 💗)

@Mp-wc2chI don’t know what your doing but please stop. NO herbs will make any difference in a person’s behaviour unless it’s reacting to certain enzymes in a physical manor (aka allergens, irritants and poisons). Since your saying this under an autism/Asperger’s video l feel the need to tell you this: your son is most likely masking. These traits can’t be changed and for you to seek that isn’t helping. I get why people want to do that but don’t. It just makes it harder to accept autism/Asperger’s.

Respectfully, I think this video is the exact OPPOSITE of what I'd ever recommend to anyone with Asperger's. It's just flat out f****** annoying and makes me question the point of the OP. I relate to so many of these 😅. Some of my friends asked me if I had autism and I got offended by the notion. But the more I looked into it and looked back on my life, the more I can say that I’m an aspie with ADHD and OCD. *wish I was ocd about my room*. It always felt like a tug. Wanting sameness, hyperfocus on something, and stim like shaking my hands and stuff. But I would never thought I’m mildly autistic because the doctor wasn’t able to confirm it. I wasn’t put in a situation where both Autism and ADHD would come out neurologically. Only ADHD did. So I always felt like there was another half of me that wasn’t addressed in life and had to discover that on my own.

I answer yes to many of these points, but I emphasize that I have improved on many of them because I had realized they were a problem for me, and this was even before Asperger's syndrome (I only understood I had it as an adult). The areas that are difficult to work on are those related to excessive sensory sensitivity, which, in my case, seems to be getting a bit worse as I age.

There really isn't. There are different theories like monotropism. I personally think that the most likely explanation that autism is essentially one end of a larger spectrum that ends with schizophrenia on the other end. Whereas there is an extreme awareness and connection to the logic and concrete on the autism end, there's a similar degree of connection to creativity and the metaphorical on the schizophrenic end. And what was Asperger's Syndrome is incredibly hard to separate from Schizoid Personality Disorder. Apart from the former being a bit earlier and that latter involving even less emotional reactivity, it can be incredibly hard to tell the difference without a lot of work.

With the gastrointestinal problems - that might have to do with autistic eating and drinking habits. There seems to be a lack of sensitivity for thirst which might result in obstipation, or eating priorities that might end up in "too good" digestion or in obstipation. E.g. I need juice to drink with water or without - makes a vivid digestion. One of my sons needed to make a drinking routine to have less obstipation, and he still has health problems from not drinking enough.

@twixisgodandsoaremacerator9285 O, there are other videos about it. But, as I said - they don't feel hunger and thirst so soon as others. Of course they get hungry and thirsty, but e.g. they feel thirst when they are already drying out. 1/2 liter seems enough for them, while below 1 liter in winter and 1 1/2 liter in summer means serious health issues. That's not a thing for diagnostic, because old people often have the same issue. But overall it is not so usual that people think they had enough drinking only 1/2 liter or less per day. But it seems to autists it is widely spread. I did not realise the bad effect on health until I was 27, and even today, I mean right now, being 55 I feel not wanting to drink more than 0.5 liter - I will have to force myself, because today it will be a nice summer day.

That's exactly what it is. Autism is a neurological condition, not stomach. This is why parents must be vigilant about hydration and nutrition if they can because junk food and other garbage is already bad enough for regular people. I've seen people just throw their arms in the air and just accept that extreme constipation and other damaging issues can't be mitigated. Adult laziness and stupidity is a big problem for autistic kids sadly.

Hi Dan, our 10 year old grandson has had an ASD diagnosis for over a year, and is waiting assessment for ADHD. He is intelligent, can read well, loves maths and music. Struggling to help with meltdowns as he can and does lash out at people. Afterwards he’s sorry and thinks he’s rubbish. It’s really hard for us to know how to handle these incidents. Clearly not acceptable but as he says ‘my mind turns to jelly’!

    • @SaiyanShinobi
      @SaiyanShinobi Před rokem +2

first off, you're not "handling" your grandkid, that doesn't leave any room to "raise" him. He's not a problem to solve. Second, he feels he has to apologize for who he is, because you classify his meltdowns in the same category of choosing to lash out at people. That's two things that will make sure you never understand him.
I'm still figuring my own AuDHD out, but my parents talked like you, and if they just tried to think about those two perspectives, i might not have grown up feeling like my real personality is not acceptable outside of myself.

I just listened to a CZcams speech yesterday by an Aspergers expert in London, from about 7 years ago. He said that physical exercise is way more helpful for Aspergers than stuff like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Prozac. Speaking as an autistic woman who lost control if my behavior when I took Siberian Ginseng for weight loss -- and found out it was because the supplement upped my usually small testosterone level -- I would say, the physical exercise will help tame testosterone in a male. Also, taking vitamin C and elderberry at bedtime helps me sleep, and sleep is essential for better mental health. Oh! And blue light blocking glasses and limited screen time. And going barefoot outside daily.

It would be nice if men, especially men working in medicine, remembered they aren't the only people with Asperger's and sex hormones make a huge difference in human behavior. That short sightedness has led to literally millions of women worldwide getting late diagnosis or no diagnosis at all.

First time I heard about autism is when I watch the Extraordinary Woo Yong Woo, and so I think I can understand her behaviour and I do that kind of behaviour. I noticed that I'm being more weirder each day, I'm waiting people standing to move from the door so I can go outside, I'm so hyperactive, I speak alien they even think that I'm a foreigner that's still learning Indonesian. I'm so childish, impulsive and I'm genius in the subjects I like, but I'm so careless, and didn't care about assignments in other school subjects that I didn't like. I'm very careless and easily lose things, my bag was open all the way when I left for school in a hurry and was almost late and then the Security guard got me. I often forget the examination so I didn't study before, I once forget the math exam, so I didn't study and yeah I forgot some of the formula, there are 5 questions, the question number 3 is a trigonometry question that my teacher never taught. So I didn't know either about trigonometry but Im sure my teacher taught the way how powers of numbers can be solved. Because I didn't study at all before the exam cause I was forget, I did the test really critically and by looking for my own solution. After the examination finished, the next day my teacher Bu Jesyich revealed our works, she said that one of my class did the number 3 right that her own self never taught us about trigonometry, And of the 10 classes she taught, there is only one student from this class was able to do number 3 correctly, so she gives us back our assignments so I from the 5 questions I got right like 3/5, and I did my number 3 correct that one with my just random solution. That's wow, my whole class think that Salsa (the smartest one, Rank 1) is the one who did that number 3, so she and the other smartest got 4/5 but they can't solve number 3. Meanwhile I just got 3/5 but I have solve the number 3. I didn't them that that was me who did number 3, and so my teacher think maybe the one who did number 3 was cheating by calculator, but brooo I was doing my exam straight in front of her, because I sit at the front, and in front of the teacher desk. I wasn't cheating that's one I hate my whole life and if I was cheat I would have been finished the whole 5 numbers. But I didn't. So although how careless I am didn't do my homeworks well (because I forget) lost things and whatever, I am genius in some objects I do like. So in 10th grade I was rank 8 and then 6, that was a bit sad caused I see my friends in the examination they are cheating even I think them the top 5, although I didn't have whole subjects in a good grades, but so I do really good in some subjects, and so yeah I didn't get much grades number as them I was even crying and sad after the examination, but I didn't tell my teacher that my friends was cheating. After the raport day I was surprised in the semester 2 like I got rank 6 it's way further better that those who cheating yesterday on the exam, so I was actually satisfied from that. Now in my 11th grade I just surprised that Im rank 1, although my PAI, Bahasa Indonesia, Sejarah, and other basics was worse from my friends that rank 2, 3 and the others, but I got really good grades in math, geography, anthropology, art, they are stuff of subjects that I love. One day I want to become an archaeologist. My friend Zahra she's very good at PPKn, Bahasa Indonesia, and others, she's the head of the class she's best at debating, speech, head of theatre extracurricular, famous and extrovert, she's so smart, active and she's my best friend, she is my deskmate. And I'm just the opposite, I'm weirdo, shy, inactive, careless, she did great in those subjects, and I didn't do those subjects good, but she didn't do math very well. She got the second rand and I got the first, I believe she's mentally smarter than me as whole I have said before, I also did careless in my works, although I don't doing really good at those, I got really good grades at math, anthropology, and geo and art and that's why how my raport got really high. I believe she's smart, and I'm smart and how my friends whole class are smart in our own way.
That's a whole shit I said too much shit, my English isn't very good and my grammar is so messy, I'm just trying to sharing, I hope y'all can understand my shit nonsense talking sharing 😂😂

Ahh the whole I want to said that, I think there's something wrong with my brain and how I behave so childish. I don't know where to diagnose and I wouldn't talk about this to my parents of this shit. To diagnose I think it would be expensive as I don't have money as I'm a student, and I'm a villager far away from this kind of psychologist, I think maybe it's available in the city but it's kinda far and its for crazy people, people with limitations, . I'm not crazy I don't want people think that im crazy and go that place, I'm just weirdo and childish, and bad communication alien accent.

There is always a possibility that a diagnosis may be wrong. Not saying it is but diagnosing neurodevelopmental issues and mental health issues isn’t an exact science and depends heavily on the clinician, the patient and their cooperation.
It may also be the right diagnosis but not complete diagnosis.
If the treatment isn’t working for them and/or if they feel like maybe asd covers more it’s reasonable to ask for a second opinion or an additional evaluation.

Interesting. The first thing I did when I discovered I have Asperger's was to play that "Kramer at the dentist then the Mel Torme concert" goofy acting role. And I did/do see a tendency to "overplay" the Dx a bit, but that's only because after having LIVED it and all the consequences for over 68 years, I feel it's my right to claim: "I'M PROTECTED BY THE ADA (Americans with disabilities act)". 😉
