    Glad this is still on line, bedding stores where quick to point out that our bed is almost 20 years old and we should replace it. With your instructions and help from our grandson we were able to get grandma’s side working again. Mahalo for your expertise!

    Thank you for the tip about the reset buttons (starting just before the five-minute mark in the video). I was able to get it working again. The bed was doing weird things like raising the foot when I pressed the "massage on" button. Now we are back in business! WE APPRECIATE YOU!

    This video has been sooo helpful!!!!! Our adjustable bed remote just stopped working. So, we watched this video and sure enough it enabled us to fix it!! It seems our cat likes to sleep under the bed on a box I store clothes in. She found the wire of the remote where it plugs into the motor, chewed it (not all the way through) and pulled the plug out. We plugged it back in and removed the box she used to reach it!! Thanks a million!!

    This was good to see how it attached and or how to un-attach it from the rails. And a few other tips I might try to remedy the problem that this did not address. :) IF you got massage motors that are brand new that are not working but everything else is, still trying to figure out if I HAVE to replace this main unit. Since the adjustments are still operational. Seems like a sad waste of money just to get the massagers to work again. :(

    Thanks for all the videos.
    Curiously the foot of the bed does not come up all the way. You can hear the motor cycling from one end to the other.
    The torque bar doesn't seem to catch or engage right away leading to a long delay in the action.
    There is no popping sounds which leads me to believe that the push block is not stripped or damaged.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks in advance.

    Yesterdayevening we had a power interrupt for two hours, my bed was in the up position. I was looking for a manual release too lower the bed ?
    Is there a manual release possible?

  • @denisetrahan6455
    @denisetrahan6455 Před 2 lety

    Question; When I try to raise the bed into a sitting position, there is a loud noise that is coming from the foot of the bed. It is the little tube that is bolted in four places to the bottom of the bed, near the foot of the bed. The foot is stuck in raised position. The of the bed goes up and down normally. I called Leggett&Platt and was told to order a conversion kit, so I did. How do I get the foot of the bed down, so I can use the bed flat until it is repaired? I am tempted to swith the cords from the front of the bet to the foot os the bed to see if that can lower the foot for now?

  • @Got2Bespoke
    @Got2Bespoke Před 6 lety +1

    Hey Adjustable Bed Doc! I apologize for the lengthy message in advance. We purchased these (or almost identical, but we have an ugly beige remote) L&P adjustable bases for our king size TempurPedic bed. But, we keep having part of the lift mechanism break on us (twice now) and even though the bed will go up, any significant weight (at least during a short period) causes the bed to fall back really hard to a flat position. After this happens we find the cover/door for the motor housing broken, so we don’t know if it’s a result of the impact when it falls or if the door breaks and causes the problem or there’s another issue and the door is also breaking and just a 2nd issue. I tend to think the latter is the issue as the motor will still raise the bed up, but it won’t stay up with any pressure. At the same time, we haven't noticed any additional cracks in the overall housing, but either way we'll check again when we get the replacement door. I've considered having a machinist take a look at the replacement part when we get it and having a sturdier part made but again, even if that’s possible with numerous variables at play, I don’t think the door is the only issue.
    In the end, I’ve lost my confidence in fixing this issue permanently and although I resent the idea of having to replace the bases after onky 5 or so years, we’re really tired of this. Every time this happens it means taking apart my whole bed as we only have no real clearance under the side rails, so we have to dismantle our king size memory foam bed (frame, mattress and bases) every time, usually more than once per occurrence.
    For all of these reasons, I’m now thinking I just want to replace the bases. So, I was wondering, since I'm sure that you see a lot of these and fix them, do you have any recommendations for models that are engineered better than this and maybe even technologically up to date (is Bluetooth or wireless too much to ask for? lol Doesn't Sleep Number have an app that controls their bases?)? I do think that our current bases were expensive enough and they "should" be high enough quality to just do their job without breaking like this. I did do my research before I made a multi-thousand dollar purchase and believed that L&P was supposed to be known for quality products. Sadly, that’s not been the case with the products we currently own.
    Thank you for your time and any suggestions you might have that we can look into further!

    • @johnm7056
      @johnm7056 Před 5 lety

      Our motor broke in the exact same manner as you described yours... that plastic plate broke. Such poor quality. And these beds are so expensive. How can Leggett & Platt expect these motor to last? The motors appear to be made almost entirely from plastic!

    • @Got2Bespoke
      @Got2Bespoke Před 5 lety +1

      John M hey thanks for the reply! On top of the inconvenience of the bases breaking down, when we called to get yet another replacement part we found out that they’re out of stock. So, now we’re waiting for an unknown period of time for, as you pointed out, our rather expensive bases to even be operable. I specifically went to L&P because of their reputation and I’ve been underwhelmed the whole way. As it is, I just want to get rid of them at this point (sell them with a disclaimer if the warranty transfers) and get something that will work all the time. I’ve been without the use of the bases for months now. Unbelievable, right?

    • @johnm7056
      @johnm7056 Před 5 lety

      It is unbelievable! You should leave a review for Leggett & Platt on Google Maps. Try to let people know how bad these electric beds are! I left my Google Map review at Leggett & Platt, 2015 N MacArthur Dr, Tracy, CA. I used this address since it seems to come up organically when doing a general Google search. However, Leggett & Platt's true corporate headquarters is 1 Leggett Road, Carthage, MO. You could leave a review at that address as well.

      I’m here researching due to same problem I believe. When mine broke it exploded! I thought it was a gun shot into my house! I nearly killed myself trying to get outta my bed folded up like a taco! I am disabled. Several fractures in my spine that won’t heal! My base was 4 years old Jan 2020. They shipped me a new motor(?) it doesn’t fit! It is EXACTLY THE SAME! I’m left wondering if the metal bars are not quite strait from the explosion? Getting someone to come & help me is challenging on a good day, especially now though with the virus hysteria. I have several pics, but no way to post them here.Any advise or suggestions?

    Hey there. I was given an electric (hospital) adjustable bed. The foot works fine (as far as I can tell.) But, a strange thing is happening with the head. It SOMETIMES will work... You can hear the motor working. Sometimes you can make it go up. Sometimes you can make it go down (I already figured out how to lower it without removing the pin.). I have no idea what could be causing this problem. Do you? I could understand it needing a new motor, etc. if it wouldn't work at all. This is weird. Thank you so much!

    • @theadjustablebeddoctor4300
      @theadjustablebeddoctor4300  Před 7 lety

      Hi Nicole,
      Sounds like perhaps the remote may be bad. I agree, the motor either works or it doesn't. That being said, another possibility is that the main control box could have a short in the head output causing intermittent failure. This is definitely something we see happen somewhat often along with bad remotes.. If I knew the brand & model of your bed I could give you a more accurate assessment .

    • @theadjustablebeddoctor4300
      @theadjustablebeddoctor4300  Před 6 lety

      Hi Mark,
      No, there is not a way to adjust the stroke of the actuator motor. It almost sounds like a limit switch inside the motor is going bad. I doubt that the control box is your problem , because if it was, the bed’s motor wouldn’t work at all. To test this theory you can switch the head motor plug with the foot plug and test with the remote that way. If the head motor still performs the same while plugged into the foot plug then you’ll know it’s the motor for sure. I hope that helps you find the issue.

      Usually it’s a failed internal limit switch and the motor drive over extends and breaks cap, and sometimes even damaging the motor case itself.

    So what do I do since the torque tube is bent? I’m still under warranty (at 4 year mark) and my motor didn’t just crack, it exploded! I sincerely thought someone shot a rifle into my bedroom wall. I called L & P & described the sound & that numerous black plastic pieces “shot” across my floor & the rep said very quickly “yes you need such & such part. I can send it out today for the cost of shipping.” I agreed & gave my card number. Of course it was the Okitmat motor & it doesn’t fit because the bar is bent about 1/4-1/2 inch. I’ve had a few men try to straighten the bar, but no luck. Should I call L& P back & explain? Or do you sell the bar & how much? Msmom1988@gmail
