    Good info but id highly recommend having it sunk into the ground so that it acts as a barrier against the rhizomes creeping in as they would just crawl right under that. A good rule imo is 50/50 or 1/3 above ground/below or have it at the cut height of the grass you prefer.

    This should be set into the ground to prevent grass roots from invading your flower beds. How deep depends on the kind of grass. But usually 1.5" to 2". It will also make the edging more stable.

    The hardest part for me, a 63 yr old lady, was separating the stakes from the metal edging. I was able to by using a sparkle tool & hammer to separate one welded area and then bend back & forth. Nice video. Thanks!

I'm so glad I did because it was trying to pound it into the ground without snapping off those stakes! Thanks so much for the video. You're a fun guy to learn from :). Only thing I would say to help with getting it to anchor well is to use rubber mallet to hit the center of each piece first so it doesn’t seesaw on you

  • @kaitlinross4348
    @kaitlinross4348 Před rokem +1

    I just put this stuff before watching any videos and I realize I didn’t connect the pieces right but it works lol I overlapped them a ton but theyre all staked very flush. Hammer works if you dont have a mallot but it will rough up the piece you are putting in a little. My landscape turned out pretty dang good for no experience. Id recommend this to everyone

      I agree with you 100%....when we had our traditional stick built house with foundation...I'd just make my rounds every year or so digging a small 4 inch trench around the flower bed...tossing the soil back up agianst the foundation to make water flow away from the house....it's a very good practice that I learned as a boy....now with the mobile home it's a bit different....we cant throw the dirt up against the "skirting" (stuff under the trailer) so edging was my best option to build up a nice bed for planting...thanks for your comment CJ...now ya have a bit of my logic

    Personally I don't like the look or safety of the metal edging up above grade that much. I think if I am going to do it I would pound or bury the edging to about 2" above grade. Just enough to keep mulch in the bed and still allow to string weed eater the outside edge.

      @@StoneyRidgeFarmer I mean it appears to be good quality product and the grass was a little long next to the edging. In my opinion it would be nice to see the grass line trimmed up next to the edging. Everyone has there own taste and I'm expressing mine. After all the effort to install it and show it I would have grabbed the weed whacker and line trimmed to make it pop.
      Take care.
