Yes exactly! My grandmother had this on VHS when I was a kid (I would have watched it in about 2005) and the film was so blurry and scratched and the sound was a bit garbled. But I watched the whole thing through so many times.
I agree that this is absolutely the best condition I have ever seen of this beautiful gem. This needs to be completely restored, remastered & preserved for future generations of children & adults alike to enjoy as well.

My grandma had this on a VHS. It really is groundbreaking. They don’t label the blind character as disabled. They even give some perspective into how her world is different. How she sees with her hands. And listens to her world.
I don’t have any idea when this was made. But the advocacy and beauty of it, especially for something so classic is a treasure!

Even the detail of Billie’s eyes looking “normal” when she’s in her fantasy world is a pretty interesting visual.

This cartoon has a beautiful message, that was well before its time, of how everyone is perfect as they are and deserve to be treated as equals, made proper by the ending quote, "There are some who see with the eyes in their head and some who see with the eyes in their heart." 💝
That quote did stick with me!

These cartoons are so beautiful. They should bring stuff like this back.
I consider The Enchanted Square as the saddest Raggedy Episode, because the blind's issue. The sight is a beautiful gift for every one.
However blindness didn't stop Billie to be happy, this is because Billie has a awesome heart.
The other one that sad is the little girl who got really sick and she need sunlight to live at it was at dead of winter.
I used to have this on a DVD of 50 classic cartoons! God, I can't believe I almost forgot about this. It's so pretty!

I think this cartoon marked me in such a way that now that I'm an adult.....my biggest wish for the world (if I can ever make one) is that no one should be "blind" , vision for me as priceless, the simple fact to see the sun light is a gift...this cartoon really stayed in my heart
Thankfully, when the Lord comes back, there will be no more blindness, deafness or any other disability; the world will be a perfect place with only happiness and peace.
I used to think that when I was a child but then I met so many people who were either born blind or went blind due to illness or accidents and they still led happy, creative and fulfilled lives.
I remember watching this when I was younger now that I’m 22 and watching this, somehow kind of healed my inner child
I watched this all the time and i had the doll too. It really spoke to me when she sees her mother as this beauty when shes just a simple lovely woman.

One of the first cartoons I ever saw, first viewing it on a VHS tape at my grandparents' house before they gave it to me and my parents. I'd watch it time and again, but the more heavy aspects went way over my head.
Rewatched it the other night, and I forgot how bittersweet and wholesome it was. Also, the animation and art is top notch.
I used to love this cartoon as a little girl,(And actually still have it on VHS somewhere actually) (And the 1941 one), and I didn't realize the little girl Billie was blind until watching it again years later, When realizing that, It makes it kinda sad but happy and innocent at the same time. =) I love Ann's beautiful singing voice in this too!

My grandpa's 3rd wife had this on vhs, it also had a cartoon about an old farm couple at the World's Fair that i loved.
She had tons of old cartoons and Shirley Temple movies. She had a great movie collection❤

This was a staple in my childhood, but re-watching at the age of 28, for some reason I think it’s so funny that the beautiful version Billie sees her mom is blonde but the truth is she’s a brunette. Lol I get the point but damn that blondes are prettier stereotype was really driven into my childhood too

I know this is kinda stretched, but I'm curious to whether or not the police officer every asked the mother out on a date.
I was getting that same "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" vibe, where the cop wants to "keep company" with the widow and eventually marry her.
Maybe so.
What the officer says at the end is something we all tend to miss these days.
We all need wisdom like that.

Long overdue nostalgia
Finally! I've finally found it! I've been looking for this specific cartoon for years but it was very very hard because I could barely remember anything about it. I could only remember one specific scene of the ragdoll but I could never search it up correctly. I'm definitely saving this so I don't lose it again.

Some of the old classics are so beutyful. There are a few racist ones, yes but this one is clean and should be saved as treasure.

Raggedy Ann is alive in a child's imagination. That's how she communicated with Billie. Super cute cartoon and a creative whole hearted idea.

For anyone wondering, this was in a vhs of a Snow White film titled Snow White and the Magic Mirror (1994). This tape also included a hippo afraid of vaccinations, and a crocodile with a toothache.

Barbra anne Piper Well this cartoon is almost 73 years old. I wouldn’t doubt if there are multiple tapes with this film on it. The one I was referencing came included in a vhs of a Snow White animated film from the 90’s.
