- An interesting episode today...not entirely sure what to say to be honest... I guess let us know if you want to see more Ink content?
Ink tries trad? Ink projects a 10a sport route in Spain? Ink hangs 1000% bodyweight on a 6mm edge? Okay I'll stop.

Every cat owner knows this is a fools errand. Cats can sense when you really want them to do something and will refuse on principle.
Yup. All the moves he did do was just trolling.
@@AB-fh9zh Definitely, he did them just to get our hopes up
Cats are assholes :)
Absolutely. They should have placed some extremely fragile and expensive item on the top shelf instead and told the cat to leave it alone.
they will do everything in their power to make you hate them but not enough to not find them cute and feed them XD
this video made me realize that i would top more boulders if there was a cat waiting at the top for me to pet
And it made me realize that bouldering might be ruined for me in a few years. I have severe allergies and I hope some clubs will still exist that do not allow pets.
@@Smonjirez I was thinking about this too, I would assume they had some precautions for this video. But the main concern for me is service animals. Climbing is meant to be accessible, and I have seen service animals at my gym. What are your opinions there?
@@Smonjirez Contact a specialist to get desensitisation treatment, it makes the allergies disappear in most cases and bearable in others, it's very rare for it not to work
@@Trowa71 I'm not quite sure how to interpret service animals in this context. I think it could be okay if the service animals remained at the entrance/hangout area if well ventilated? But I'd not encourage taking them climbing because that's just plain dangerous. People could fall on them, or people could get startled by an animal suddenly being below them. What do you think?
@@Smonjirez I suppose I've only seen, like, a lap dog with someone while they sit on the bench. But you are very right, I would not want them out and about free roaming the gym. And there are the chalk suckers and big fans at my gym, idk if this would make it better or far far worse haha
"I don't think it's a skin or strength issue, I think it's a motivation issue" Great coaching analysis! 😂😂😂

I think the key is waiting for Ink to finish his nap and decide on his own that it's zooming or exploration time. Cats go in short bursts so checking him in probably wore him out for a while! Plop him in his basket, leave some treats on the climbing puzzle and get on with some paperwork or something until he goes and explores by himself.
This one! Even covering the thing in treats isn’t going to get him up if he’s sleepy ^_^
Yeah, treats are a big motivation for cats. My cat is more likely to do stuff I want her to do if I don't watch her (if I don't give her my full attention). So, if there will be a second attempt, put treats on it, leave the camera on and go away or do other things.
And then when you return the cat will be somewhere completely different, way higher, and you'll wonder 'how did you get up *there*?'
@@barlin4972this.
@@gerritvalkering1068 Except there will be cam footage telling you exactly how the cat got there.
Well this is the content I didn't know I needed today.
same Hannah, SAME!
Agreed😻
Just wait until they find a cat that has more experience being a cat
@@robertcreer8826 perhaps even a pro cat
@@Hobbychemiefreak Wonder what a cat must do to become a pro cat
Ink needs to get treats when he makes a move, so he's motivated to keep going. Break out the snacks and he'll send!
Step 1. Go to top
Step 2. Open tuna can
Step 3. Cat
@@mithril5869that actually might work.
Cat
@@mithril5869 additional requirements: proper cleaning tools for dropped tuna pieces.
@@mithril5869 This would work
Stuff like this is one of the advantages of a VERY food motivated cat. My kitty would fly up that wall for some treats 😂😂
Got one of those myself. I tell her she's my dog.
My cat, after finding out what he is supposed to do (he is kinda slow on that), keeps doing it over and over in hopes of more treats. He meows very loudly like "HUMAN I DID THE THING I DEMAND THE TREEEEAAAATSSSS"
"The main issue I'm noticing is that he's basically asleep" 😂 I love Ink! He did great and I hope we see him climb again when he's older!
We need a round 2. Cats tend to be more active at dawn/dusk, so maybe an early or late session with some motivational treats on the holds?
A 3am zoomies session climb might be good
@@vikkumariI will volunteer my cat for it. Maybe then I can get some sleep 😅
Also stressed animals tend to sleep, so if the cat is more familiar with the area and has more sessions, enough to get relaxed it might be better - less siesta-senescence!
I wonder if ink is used to climbing with the harness
oh my god i think this is what we all wanted, please make it a series!
This could be its own separate channel lol
Please🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Also, yes.
I imagine this is what coaching with Louis is actually like:
“You’re doing great buddy!”
-“No! You quitter!!” 😂
He’s so close!!! I think it’s amazing that he’s comfortable walking around an unfamiliar environment in the first place!!! Good for him!
Yeah, that's actually quite surprising, I didn't realise that cat was so young and also that he hadn't been to the gym before. He coped surprisingly well, given that. Some cats would have just freaked out, run and hid in the bushes in the carpark and good luck with that.
Ragdolls are a very easy-going breed.
Could I suggest carpet covered holds? Or something that Ink could sink his claws into, like holds wrapped in jute/rope (like the poles of a cat tree- actually, recycled climbing rope might work!) Because we've all seen that video of that cat climbing up the underside of a carpeted staircase... My cat feels more comfortable at heights on surfaces that allow for clawing (something bark-like). It might be the new innovation, after plastic, dual-tex, now no-tex holds, maybe we should have textile holds next. She also need to do a few test jumps off a high surface before she'll go further, so habituation might help also. Also my cat is very food motivated but I don't know Ink, so maybe a trail of high value treats with a treat per move might not work so well on him, but that's what works with my cat!
Oh, also, amazing video, I love Ink already!
wood
It would be good to have something to sink your claws into. Maybe rope or carpet.
Ohh yeah, maybe some kind of giant bark covered pole.
imagine the carpet burn for hoomans tho ;-;
Ink could scale ANY of those walls/obstacles in that place with the right surfaces as suggested above. Wood, carpet, cardboard, foam, astroturf with a base, etc. Cats rely on their claws to gain purchase.
ink is a very intuitive climber. he knows when it is wise to down climb. also, he has a knack for finding good rests.
Ink's temperament is amazing for such a young cat! Perfect for the home but currently his climbing stoke needs some work
Get this cat some 'FULL SEND" mentality
Ink is a pro at finding good rest positions!
Ink really just wants to practice down climbing to build confidence first. Next time it’ll go.
Wright. Putting him at the top and waiting for him to come down is the only way to be sure Ink will do something.
He will just jump to the floor directly, but that's something.
Thank you for not forcing your cat to climb the wall and being okay with a failed ending. Great video!
Is he food motivated? If you teach him that there is always food/treats on the finishing block, it’ll train him to want to figure out how to get up there regardless of the path. You’d have to start now while he’s young and be consistent
I love how even when cats aren't even trying they're still 5x better at these things than us, and when they do try it's beyond human comprehension 😂
You should definitely keep bringing him there. I think once he’s more familiar and comfortable with the surroundings, there he’ll be running all over the place
I love when cats outsmart the laser pointer. My cat Midi would just sit and stare at the hand holding the laser and glare at me like "you expect me to fall for that?" I did get my brother's kids to chase it around, though.
Hes only 6 months old??? That is the calmest kitten I've ever seen 🤯
3:38 when you're hyping yourself up to do a hard move then bail at the last second. This cat is so relatable LOL
Louis speedrunning the crazy cat lady plot. Love that for him
Cat has the attitude of old and experienced climber who simply goes to a crag to climb and chill :D
100% want more. The future of bouldering is carpeted dual tex.
He did great for his first climb! 👏 What a brave boy! I had no idea that he's such a young fella. Keep at it. 👍 Keep him motivated. 👍 This would make an excellent series! 😲🥰🐈⬛
Ink is such a cutie. Cats do everything on their own terms lol
i havent even watched it yet but this is the best video i've ever seen
i have now watched it, it was incredible
You can say what you want, but Ink's a pretty good downclimber
A good trick to get his attention going is to take him to the climbing gym more often. He will want to get involved in whatever you are doing and he might eventually start to climb more.
You must be a new cat owner because *every* person owned by a cat knows that *food treats* are the best way to temporarily get them to do what you want. 😁
Haha so inspiring! Great CATalyst climber 😊
0.0% doubt that Ink needs to be featured again (and again). This is why we love you Louis!
Trail of cat treats up the holds should be sufficient reward / motivation to get him to send. Adorable episode
The thing about cat content is that failing and succeeding is just as fun. If he is climbing up boulders, it's fun. And if he goes to lay down, instead, it's cute.
Looks like that cat has some ragdoll in him. Very relaxed and easy to handle breed.
Upvote for Ink. I think he was just sleepy , I wouldn't want to scale a mountain either if you dragged me out of bed :p
I bet that if you get him there in an energetic mood he'll climb more. (Also like Blue's idea about providing more grip )
Definitely would watch Ink's bouldering progression 😂! He's super adorable! I fully believe with some motivation and regular visits, he'll be sending in no time!
I know you had to spend a whole day fighting this, it was SOOO worth the watch. I laughed so hard and cheered so much. I love your energy, plus an extroverted cat?
Ugh. My soul. I needed this today, thank you Louis and Sam!
I'm excited for the future of this cat-alyst climbing channel.
Ink reminds me SO MUCH of my cat Nico -- social, inquisitive, and a floofy ball of void. He's only 6 months old?? He's going to be huge! This was a fun video and I look forward to Ink's journey to boulder supremacy
This was literally my #1 request. Please make a pt.2 when Ink gets older!
Ink is beautiful! His static climbing is so good, I'd love to see more of his climbing adventures ❤
I have always loved background cat, I never dreamed we'd get the full show.
(Sent this to my partner and they were like "don't get any ideas and don't show this to tumbleweed (our cat)")
This is glorious. It takes time and practice to build skill as a bouldering, Ink, so keep trying!
I can't believe I ever lived my life without watching cats bouldering 😂
I demand a part 2 immediately. I think if there was treats involved maybe there would be more success. Like if you opened a can of wet food 👀
This video has brought me to your channel for the first time and I was really excited thinking "my goodness! cat-alyst climbing, this guy has a channel dedicated to cat bouldering videos? The dedication!" I'm only a little disappointed to realise the rest of your videos don't contain Ink. I'd subscribe if there were monthly or even quarterly cat updates. Proud of you both and hope you can climb together again in the future!
CATalyst Climbing, you are just fulfilling your true purpose. Keep it up!
I am 100% in love with this cat, please bring him bouldering more often
I don't know what I was expecting to happen but can't say I was surprised or disappointed. Cats are cats and they will do cat things. What a joy to watch!
if you want them to react to the toys more, make sure you give him a treat after play sessions so he's more enticed to go after them!
Your cat is the cutest. This is the best climbing video ever even if he didn’t send…my cat also prefers the metal hook at the end of that wand toy 😂
Never thought I'd see a cat video on this channel. Poor Ink, just wants to chill! He'll rock it on a motivated day...
beautiful video! Just what I needed as a small break within writing my thesis. Love your content and your charisma! Will definitely tune in for your cats climbing session no 2! :D
Yesss! More Ink on the channel is what I needed
Wow, he's only six months old 😮 that's impressive. He's so calm and chill, but yeah maybe wait till he's older and awake to tey again 😂
Every time they said “go on, you can do it” he just turns back like don’t tell me what I can and can’t do 😂
PLEASE make this a series!! Ink really puts that cat in Catalyst 🥹
This was super fun, my face is hurting for smiling so much... I hope Ink enjoyed it too!
Video was 1000% worth it, can't wait to see Ink's next project!
This video is gonna blow up, I'm calling it right now. As always great content Louis
Wonderful video, love the idea. Super great. Would love to see another video in this series.
Ink is such a Snoozer XD.....He's my Spirit Animal XD And Yes the Ink Content is *Chef's Kiss*
This was the greatest ever, it is absolutely what we’ve always wanted to ask for! Ink is absolutely adorable!
I opened up CZcams to find something to cheer me up and the universe gave me this gift of a video
This is by far and away the best climbing video that has ever been put online. Mellow eat your heart out!
This is the most unobtainable end result I've ever seen Louis go for and I am ENTHRALLED. MOAR CAT PLS.
This was so cute !! I want this to be a series !
Oh my gosh, this is the best thing I've ever seen! You're truly CATalyst Climbing now!
yes we want another episode
we need this as a series
This video was the little serotonin boost I needed today 😻 Ink is such a cute name for a complete cutie pie! Please make this a series, want to follow his progress through the grades 😉😂
Please make this a series! I want to see Ink reach new heights :D
I want to see a part 2!! Ink is so cute and did a good job for doing it the first time :D
more cat climbing videos please!😍 Ink did an amazing job!
I laughed so hard and my cat too got interested for a second. ❤😂
omg please do more videos setting routes for ink, this was so delightful
Ink is the type of cat I need. He seems so sweet😭
You need to make this boulder in your house, he'd go up there all the time!
I want this to be your entire channel!
"No one requested this."
This is gonna be a banger!
Ink is gorgeous. Randomly saw this, this morning and couldn't stop watching. Yes please another video.
Ink! Just the inspiration I needed as I'm on the way to the climbimg gym.
Now this is the kind of top tier content I’m here for!
I have never been so excited for a climbing video!
Maybe Ink doesn't like the fact he cannot put his claws in to the holds? Maybe if you wrapped some string around them, he might prefer it?
Ink did such a great job!! I would love to see more!
Aw, Ink was tired from all that climbing! So cute!
If I hadn't subscribed already, I'd absolutely subscribe to see Ink. We want more Ink! Please. 👍❤️
This needs to be a series of videos - I want more cat climbing videos 😸
Please keep trying with Ink! This was so great!
We absolutely need more. I will subscribe for more of this content.
Looks forward to seeing more of inks projects!
If you had put an open laptop and an unattended glass of water at the top, he'd have been unstoppable.
Turn this into a series and update us on the progress and your strategy to get Ink to cooperate. I will watch it happily 😄
We need more of this!
such a precious video! I'm very glad youtube recommended it to me
This was very funny and awesome 😂❤
Totally worth all the hard work!
I always think my cats (and all cats) would he amazing boulderers!!
This was gold, I've got a contender if you want to put a comp on!
Yes, please!
Please post more Ink climbing/refusing to climb things content. This came up in my recommended feed and I am glad I watched it.
