I was 15 years old, and went to visit family in Germany in 1996 (I'm from South Africa). And my cousins were dating two guys from a German boy band called Konstruction - yes, that's how they spelled it - opening for the Backstreet Boys. They invited me to their concert. I was, like, "Who the hell are the Backstreet Boys?" Remember, this was two years before they broke big. Long story short, I went to the concert, and I was blown away. I've been a Backstreet Boy fan ever since. I'm now 36 years old, and I still have their CDs, and more than a few of their albums on USB playing in my car constantly. Thanks guys for 21 years of memories......

While it may be a band of boys, a boy band is a band that does NOT play instruments on stage (at least to me it is, and if you wanna go on about 5SOS [5 Seconds of Summer if you don't know (5SOS reference right there)] being a boy band, then 5SOS is my fav boy band. But to me, 5SOS is not a boy band (more like a.... "punk band" or something) and 1D is the best boy band...-_

Backstreet Boys have a great history and amazing songs with really sensitive and heartful lyrics and they were tremendously successful in their era and till today even though they've grown up..at that time there was no youtube internet etc and these guys left their mark in this type of music by doing music and only..now the bands or singers are mostly into shows and physical appearance rather than music itself..I've heard 1D some times but they never left me an impression of a deep feeling or spectacular music or something.. it just reminds me of just a common teenage band and nothing more..but that's only my opinion tastes in music change day by day now if this is for the best or the worst we'll see:) Bye!

I just went to BSB’s DNA concert last night here in Denver, Co! THE BEST concert I’ve ever been to. THE STRONGEST, THE CLEANEST SOUND SYSTEM I HAVE EVER HEARD. Performance was on point. AWESOME intro. They deserve that Number 1 spot!!!

In my opinion, Take That is the best "boy band". They are not even a boy band anymore because they have already grown as artists a long time ago now. Individually they might not be the best singers or dancers but overall creatively they are pretty much the best of the "boy band" genre. They don't need songwriters. Particularly with Gary fricking Barlow you have the best bandleader and chief songwriter you can ask for. I mean, "Back For Good", "Patience", "The Flood"? Are you kidding me? These are bloody good pop tunes 👍.

Their record sales went skyhigh, they did plenty, even though their fame was short lived after their breakup cause from what I heard all the members had big egos but still though, late 90's early 2000's it was all about B2K, they were more popular than NSYNC and NSYNC were on the verge of disbanding anyway when B2K were coming up but u right though Jackson 5 or New Edition should have been number 1 on this countdown

They are just simply amazing. They treat each other as brothers. They care for each other and never left anyone behind. Unlike any other bands in the 90's they made their way up even if they had difficulties. They are my inspiration. All other boybands from the 90's no longer make music but they are still , with their own music. I love them until I live.

Even if they are Popular their music won't last long like the good popular music bands or Artists used to last around 70's or 80's or 90's. People still listen to metallica or Iron maiden but hardly few will listen to 1D in around 2020's or 30's.

Westlife is the most underrated boy band in history. They deserve so much more, but people always has the inclination to listen to shitty music with shitty lyrics instead of deep, soulful songs that actually makes sense.
Yes. Yes I agree so much with this. I really hate how a lot of music, especially those by boy bands, these days seems dedicated to rabid fangirls who want nothing more than to be the girlfriends of the artists.

In terms of global sales of these albums, the gap is too wide, in favor of BSB. Hands down, BSB outsold Nsync in global sales, even in US. Those who say otherwise are delusional.

NEVER heard of a boy band named Blue, they sound GREAT though. "None of the other acts were this good" That's a line that'll be VARY MUCH debated till the end of time, its like trying to figure out if Ross and Rachel were on a break. "Do you agree with our list?" NO but then again I didn't create the list so...That being said, if you don't agree with the list might as well put ALL the boy bands in ONE concert venue and let the bands decide for themselves who is number one! #boybandfest
Well I'm a huge fan of BSB since 1996,and absolutely 100%,they're the best boy band of all time..no one can top them especially in records,albums etc..legendary iconic boy band!
