Ravi Kr Hi. In fixed geometry turbo charger FGT, the internal area/volume around the turbo charger fins is fixed where as in variable geometry turbocharger VGT, there is a mechanism of gates those reduces or increses the volume inside the turbocharger thereby reducing the turbo lag at low engine speeds. The gates arrange themselves such that the area gets shrinked and turbo fins get activated even at low engine speeds when the amount of exhaust gases entering into turbocharger are less. Hope this clears your doubt
