To mark a 100 years since the formation of the Irish Free State in 1922 and the beginning of the island’s partition, IMMA presented an international research conference. The conference theme reassess the role of art and artists in exploring the international movement towards self-determination, situating their work within a global context of redrawn imperial power, emerging nation states and independence movements post World War I.
The IMMA international research conference 100 YEARS OF SELF-DETERMINATION, took place online and at the Light House Cinema from Weds 9 - Fri 11 Nov 2022. The programme features presentations by both invited and selected speakers from an open call for papers responding to conference themes.
