figure skating has certain moves and routines u have to complete in order to finish the round such as triple lodge etc, its a rule whereas bboying is letting ur body move freely on music, theres no remit or restriction. its more like an artists' competition.

@monnyg1 It's called TOP ROCK. More specifically the BATTLE TOP ROCK. Most BBoys know this move, it's a fundamental for bboying. Usually bboys top rock, either with kick step or battle before doing a power move (flares, headspins etc.)

I agree with you. This kind of videos impress me very little. Nica moves but can't really tell anything about the freshness, funkyness or how dynamic it's done in the solo and the battle as a total.

@squeezecl I'm a new generation dancer and sorta Bboy in a way. But I agree to what he said. And your comment just proves it: that the new generation defines BBoy as just powermoves. It should not be that way. Bboy should be balanced between style/footwork and powermoves. If you're just powermoves you're routine gets boring really fast. (cont.)

I first picked it up in the later part of the seventies in New York but there were African-Americans doing it yrs before me in the Bronx and Brooklyn New York. To the best of my knowledge..I don't know of any other city startin up before that

i wish it was too but it just cant be. sports is a game consists of rules that the players have to follow and earn scores to win, but bboying is dance, its something u do wht u feel like and judging it from judges' perspective. theres no rule or points u have to earn. it tends to be more of an art.

@s1lverne0 lots of moves are pretty much replications or variations of existing ones since many have already been "discovered" but a lot are also pretty unique but yah it was similar to wings
