- Hello! This is a reissue of a class originally published in 5 separate parts. Equipped with faster internet and a very good compression program, I've decided to clean up the channel and that means joining parts in classes so no one has to search out the next parts to continue.
Let me know if you feel the compression is too compressed! There's a huge difference in upload time between 6.91 gb and the 1.64 gb in this tutorial.
Enjoy!
D
Color Formula, this is approximate! Sorry, what I used in the tutorial was a real mash up of various bits sitting around my studio! I did my best.
Institutional aka Hospital Green (I love it!)
1 part Yellow
1 part Red
1part Turquoise
4 parts Green
8 parts White
Mix 'em up and make some leaves!

I can immediately recognise the 3 leaf canes in my box from your tutorial.
Thank you for letting us see you reduce. That is so helpful.
You are so welcome! My pleasure. Cheers, D
I watched this as a 5 part, but I am looking forward to watching it again.
It should be easier, Sheryl. I know separate parts was a pain! I’m trying to consolidate those! 😊❤️
What a beautiful piece!
This was a wonderful video. I watch in the evening and then go to sleep to dream what I can do. Thank you Dona!
So glad you liked it, Cheryl! 😊❤️
Your instructions are perfect for me, a beginner. Clear and exact. Also, you give permission to be “loose”. I really appreciate your generosity and artistry.
You are so welcome!😊❤️
Gorgeous work
Thank you!😊❤️
Love these! Thank you very much ❤️
Glad you like them!😊❤️
I'm not even finished watching and I'm in awe. As beautiful as a painting!
Thank you, Susan! It is like painting with clay😊❤️
I absolutely love watching and listening to you!! Learning SO much
Thank you, Kris! So glad!😊❤️
Yay, I already made some of these, but glad to see the redo ❤❤😊!! Thank you 😊.
Beats looking for the parts, I think! Have a great evening, Mary!😊❤️
I love the new version. Thanks for the tutorial. This leaf is very neat looking.
Less confusing and easier, right? I’ll re Format all the old stuff in parts…😊❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed the tutorial. Thank you.
Thank you, Kristi! I love these leaves. I didn't really like the green color but it worked out really well. Hugs, D
I Dona, I had watched the original series of these canes, but it was refreshing to watch you work again on these. I always find it amazing that I learn something new every time I watch a video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talent with us.
You are so welcome!😊❤️
You create a zen environment and mesmerize me with your talent! (Kinda remind me of Bob Ross and all his tiny little trees). If I can create something anywhere near this, I will be truly grateful. Thank you so much.
Oh, thank you very much! I appreciate that! 😊❤️
I love these leaves.
Me, too. I do love them!❤️
Beautiful!
Thank you very much!😊❤️
I see this as a lovely kokedama base. Thank you for the wonderful demo 🥰
My pleasure 😊❤️!
Loved the video Donna. You make it all look so easy. I think you are a great teacher. Be safe, stay cool, enjoy your life and God Bless❤
Thank you! You too!😊❤️

Really loved your good demonstration of a beautiful leaf.
More..... the entire tapestry is gorgeous and so inspiring.
Thank you! Cheers!😊❤️
Fantastic video !! I loved every minute!!
So glad! Hugs, D
Thank you!... I love the compressed version. For me, having everything in one video is great. I do a lot of rewinding and rewatching. This is perfect. ❤
Yupppp. So much easier. I will do the rest that way, kid. 😊❤️
@@DonnaKatoArt Thank you!... There's a reason you are THE best. 💖
Thanks Donna all to love🙏🏽
Thank you, Joyce!😊❤️
Great tutorial ❤ I’m to clay and you are very easy to follow, thank you!
Hello Avonda, I am so glad you enjoyed it and found it easy to follow. I am very pleased with the class and you know, you'll be able to do quite a bit with those leaves. Yup! Cheers!
So happy I found your channel and was able to subscribe. Have admired your work for quite some time but did not know you had a channel. Thank you so very much for making it affordable to those of us who are on very limited incomes. I am looking forward to getting your blackout clay once the temperatures moderate as now (early August) it would most likely arrive a very hard cooked brick! Hopefully in another month things will cool down enough so if it sells out, oh please create more! Thanks again, Donna - you are deeply admired and appreciated ! ! ! ❤
Hi Donna! So glad you found me! You will live the Blackout clay, it is wonderful - saves $$ my friend! Welcome! Hugs, Donna😊❤️🎉
Thank you so much.
Anytime, Teresa!😊❤️
WOW. Thank you so very much for this fantastic lesson. It's such a joy to watch you work & talk your way through what you're doing.. making decisions as you go. I love that! I can't wait to get my paws on some clay now. And YES.. your Blackout clay is magnificent. I hmmed and hammed & debated about spending a few extra bucks but BOY HOWDY.. what a wonderful investment. Saved tons of money in the long run by turning "bead guts" aka scrap clay into gorgeous like new black clay. Fan-TAS-TIC!! love that stuff. Now if you could only invent some white out.. the world would be perfeft. hahaha. That would be some trick, I think. I'm thrilled with the black-out! Thank you.
So glad you enjoyed it and you love the Blackout! Yes, it’s definitely a money saver!😊❤️
So glad too see you on CZcams . Saw you on Carol Duvall Show. Great too see you
Welcome, Gayle! The Carol Duvall Show was so great - a fantastic time for me, too! 😊❤️
C'est magnifique cela me donne envie d'essayer, merci pour le partage
Merci!😊❤️
Gads! I love watching you work and can’t wait to try this. But it’s after midnight soo❣️❣️
😊💜
Thank you for the redoing! ❤ I did watch and make them before but I need a brush up. 😂
You know when I did it originally, I had so much trouble with my internet speed, I had to break it up like this. Well, I have better speed so it’s time to put them all together in one tute! I will do the rest, too!😊❤️
Absolutely stunning Donna. You're tutorial is an A+ and an absolute game-changer for me. As a newbie to Polymer Clay, you have opened my eyes to endless possibilities. Thank you so much for your professionalism and for sharing your expertise with us viewers. I already have a million ideas and am anxious to get started and to share them with you. Thanks again and keep on claying! 😊
Thank you, Christine! So glad you enjoy the tutes! Yes, there are so many possibilities, right? Happy holidays🎁🎄🧑🎄🎉
Merci à vous 👍👊👏👏
❤️
Hi Donna, I love this tutorial, but can not recognize a branch cane🥰 It’s so cute.
I had watched the 5 part tutorial and have my beautiful leaf canes, but after watching this one, I decided to make it again 😂😂😂😘😘😘😘
The branch cane can be used for the central stem! Have fun, Nana! 😊❤️
❤
😊❤️🎉
❤❤❤
I love these leaves, too. I have to make more, they're almost gone...Cheers, D
Would love to do some of the classes you teach??? Don't know you do that but do know its beautiful work you do
Thank you, Kathy. I’m doing all my teaching here on YT! Maybe you’ll join the classroom one day. Many classes there! 😊❤️
Oooh, I’m thinking the speckled aspect of this leaf could work for the Ivy leaves I want to make. But instead of the copper vein, I would use a very pale green. I have an Ivy leaf in front of me, and it’s VERY veiny. But it has 4 main segments divided by veins. I’m thinking the speckled parts could mimic the fine veins within the 4 segments (on either side of the main vein.) I think an idea is taking shape.
👏👏👏👏🎉YAY!!!😊❤️
I ALWAYS do what the Afghan hound asks me to do!
Loloo! Who knew the difference between an Aussie and Afghan hound is a furry blankie!!! 😊❤️
Hi! New subsriber here 😊
Hello! So glad you’re here!😊❤
Where you say "doink" when you cut your cane I say "diggitz". To each their own, eh?
👍😊❤️
Amazing! How do you keep the designs from disappearing when you reducing the piece?
It's called reduction and it's one of the most amazing things about polymer clay. You apply even pressure and the design miniaturizes as the piece reduces in size! Yup!
These are gorgeous, and thank you for sharing your knowledge. Im new to cane making. It seems like you use a lot of clay to make these. Is it just for teaching purposes? Im wondering if there's a way to reduce the amount of clay used in cane making? Is it as simple as just using less for a smaller cane or is it just the way it goes in cane making? Does that make sense?
yes, use less clay. MY canes tend to grow, actually, canes seem to grow. Try using less clay and if it appears you're headed to a big cane, cut a piece off what you're working on and set that aside - that will reduce the size and volume of clay, right?
@@DonnaKatoArt Thank-you!
What do you do with these sheets when your finished with them. I don’t think I could cut one.
Frances, they sit here! I have made plaques but they’d be great inro boxes, don’t you think?😊❤️
@@DonnaKatoArt yes and than I would not have to cut them. Great idea. This is a project where you could just loose track of time and enjoy oneself. ❤️
What temperature and how long do you bake it for?
You know Dawn, I tend to bake for 30 - 50 minutes starting in a cold over set at 300. I do multiple curings a lot so I try to do shorter curings (sometimes as short at 15 minutes) with the understanding that the clay will be subjected to much more time in the oven. If I want something very strong, very, I cure for 60 minutes. Hope this helps! Hugs, D
which pasta machine do you use?
I have an Atlas 150. It’s my go to machine! D
😊
How do I join the classroom please?
Hi Kathy! Here is the link! Join at any level you’re comfortable with. All levels have the same access. Cheers! czcams.com/channels/eRlb3K2k-_b1QAGYDuW1IQ.htmljoin
I say that because I would like to meet you, bet your a hoot
plug?
Yup! It’s the end product of shortening a Skinner Blend! 😊
You don't understand the concept of editing, do you?
Nope, I guess I don’t! 😊 The way I work isn’t for everyone, thanks for stopping by but I think I am just not your cup of tea. Good luck!
