    Hey, buuuuuudies. When you post a comment, someone replies to call you out for being wrong or whatever, and then you try to edit the comment to make it look like that wasn't what you said or all you said, that comment gets d-d-deleteeeeddd.
    This is a moderated comments section. That means that when you post a comment, I have to click Approve before it's visible to anyone outside your account. When you edit your comment, it once again becomes invisible, and I have to click Approve again. But if you're trying to make it look like you weren't hella wrong and that the person replying is talking nonsense, that isn't going to work around here. Try again.

    I remember seeing an interview with George Carlin, who of course hosted the very first Saturday Night Live. He remarked that it was odd that he’d never been invited back to any of the anniversary shows, which typically invited anyone who’d had anything to do with the show. He also did nothing to fight inequality (which also affects social progress in black communities), rescued the banks even when they weren't willing to repay most of the money given to them, and to this day continues to give speeches to Wall St. executives.
    And as a final statement he didn't pardon Leonard Peltier, an innocent native american who's been unjustly imprisoned for 40 years after being charged with a crime he didn't commit. He kept an innocent man who's been in really poor health for the last 10 years in jail because it was politically convenient to ignore the issue.

    I'm Australian, and until pretty recently I didn't have any interest in politics. In fact, "politics," as a concept, seemed like such an American phenomenon and so over-the-top that I think I automatically dismissed the whole discussion, and it's relevance in my own country. But the signs of these problems are here too, and I'm only just starting to see that as a 20 year old. As a long term vegan (first for ethics and then for the environment and health) I'm seeing how my society and media treats political change as a joke and blindly defends the status quo. And honestly, now that I'm becoming more informed on wider political and social issues (of which I still have a long way to go) I'm not sure how I should be progressing. I'm finding that it's so easy to fall into hopelessness and despair and just letting the world keep on churning, but that being "apolitical" is more harmful than I had thought. I just hope it won't be too late for my generation to bring substantial change

    The problem with being a centrist is that unlike the Left and the Right, the Center is always in flux depending on the status quo. The Right in America tends to yank the status quo more and more right, meaning that the centrists that run the Democrats are also becoming more and more right when so many of today's universally popular ideas are left by global standards, meaning the people that run the Democratic party become less and less an opponent to the Republican party and focus more and more on keeping their voters in line. Then when a guy comes along who is unambiguously left (Bernie Sanders) who is single-handedly trying to yank the chain the other way, Republicans are antagonizing him because he is a threat to their unquestioned reign and the Democrats attack him because he is an existential threat to their monopoly over left-wing voters.

      Also, he referred to him as "the reason why he puts tape over his webcam." Dumb bastard doesn't realize that Julian Assange and Ed Snowden were exposing the NSA for that very bullshit.

    • @DragonSlaveKnight
      @DragonSlaveKnight Před 4 lety +11

      Julian Assange is incredibly pro-russia biased: when offered proof about russian troops in Ukraine, which, among other war crimes, downed MH-17, he refused to publish it. How do you trust someone who spends his life doing cover-ups a brutal dictator that is putin huilo?.. Do you seriously believe that "exposing NSA" is worth 298 lives in that Boeing plane??? All the dead children russians killed?! Over 14 thousand Ukrainians dead over five years... Millions left without homes and forced to flee, and it's even worse with russian invasion of Syria on Assad's side, who routinely uses chemical weapons to kill civilians. Russian federation bombs markets, then schools and hospitals to ensure the biggest civilian casualty rate. It's a terrorist state.
      And Snowden is being hidden by the same very russia that finances whole alt right, various terrorist organizations such as HAMAS and Hezbollah (their foreign ministry quite openly calling them "allies"), russian military occupies territory of more than half a dozen sovereign states (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Syria, Venezuela, several African countries), and wages wars of conquest all over the world!..
      Millions of people destroyed by putin's wars, want to see Snowden and Assange face tribunal in the Hague. They are responsible for pro-russian propaganda: and propagandist Julius Streicher was executed by Nuremberg trial much like actual war criminals of the Third Reich. Goebbels would be too, had he not offed himself in the bunker. The blood of million Syrians are on the hands of everybody who supports putin's regime.

    • @_-_julie_-_7834
      @_-_julie_-_7834 Před 3 lety +1

      @@DragonSlaveKnight I agree that just because Assange did an incredible thing by exposing the NSA he shouldn't be excused for protecting the Russian regime - but the original comment wasn't putting Assange up on a pedestal and making him infallible, making it seem like it was is creating a strawman.
      It wasn't even praising Assange, just pointing out Colin's moronic and dismissive tone when bringing up an incredibly relevant figure when it comes to the deference of online privacy against the US Government (in this context). Calling him an internet troll is misleading and wrong, and the original comment was merely underlining the point made in the essay

    Honestly, the NDP here in Canada is pretty liberal/centrist too. Apparently it used to have a radical wing back in the 70s called "The Waffle", but it's been espousing capitalism with a mild social safety net ever since. Electoral politics are fine for making your life suck a lil bit less in the meantime, but the bourgeoise will never just let us vote away their stranglehold on the means of production. As a scrawny, genderfluid person with a physical disability, I really wish this weren't the case, but direct action and eventual revolution are our only long term option.

    This video is an unbelievable eye-opener, and I feel lucky to have watched it (since I stumbled upon your channel by accident via. Wolf Warrior review).
    I'm not gonna lie, I've probably been more right-leaning than I'll publicly admit during the past 5 years, and I would usually consider myself sympathetic to "Classical Liberal" right-wing causes (Adam Smith, Spinoza, Voltaire, etc).
    While I still believe in such values, watching a few of your videos has genuinely opened my eyes to the deceit I've been fooling myself with regarding the 'banality' of neoliberalism. I realise I just haven't given enough attention to the insidious political gaslighting that enables neoliberalism to be such an accepted phenomenon in Western culture.
    Thank you so much for putting this amount of work, effort, and detail into your videos - I can honestly say tonight is the first time in years where I've genuinely questioned the integrity of my moral compass and belief system.
