In the video we show you the entire process of making a pleco cave out of PVC pipe. We used 2" diameter piping, and a cap to make a pleco breeding cave. Sizing of the tube and length depends on the plecos that you are keeping. We keep Bristlenose plecos, so they get to be around 4-5" and the cave is exactly 6" inches in length.
We show you the whole thing from cutting, sanding, washing, wrapping in Java Moss, and placing in the aquarium. If you ever wanted to make your own caves instead of spending high dollars on those ceramic type caves, then you have come to the right place.
Enjoy the video, and as a bonus we introduce you to Ottis, our Giant Otocinclus catfish that we bought for your puffer tank. He is a beast at cleaning, and looks amazing with his stripe pattern. We also introduce you to Rhino, our new male bristlenose pleco we acquired at our local fish auction. Enjoy, like, subscribe and have fun watching.

I've kept Pea Puffers with Ottos and Amano shrimp on two separate occasions. Was fine both times. 👍

I would recommend making a diy dowel rod flapper for the inside sanding. It would make your process easier.

I will take a look into doing that. After I created this video, I used the end of an old wooden broom stick and wrapped and gorilla taped the sand paper around that and that worked pretty well. It was much easier on the fingers, lol.

    Is 2” to big?

2" is just fine for Bristlenose plecos, you can go smaller to 1.5" as well with Bristlenose plecos. This would be for the diameter of the tube opening.

What does? My cichlids eat shrimp like crazy, or are you talking about plecos? Unless you are talking about my pea puffers, we already knew that. We tried ghost shrimp in with them, just in case they may survive, even though we already knew they may eat them. That's the reason why we only spent $2.50 on 30 Ghost shrimp, for food and chance.
