Built in the historic Hollywoodland development in 1923, Elizabeth Law’s home is a celebration of Spanish architectural design, seamlessly blending the past with the present.
Law’s personal signature style, characterized by a fusion of brutalist, art deco, vintage, and antique elements, creates a unique and charming ambiance in every nook and cranny. The Mediterranean influence weaves warmth and inviting vibes into the slightly over 2,000 square feet home. Classic Spanish revival arches frame the spaces, offering a visual journey that evokes both nostalgia and contemporary flair.
One of the standout features is the effortless connection between indoor and outdoor living, embodying the classic California lifestyle. The entrance opens into a picturesque courtyard, allowing natural light to playfully dance through the interiors. It's a space that exudes relaxation and captures the essence of a Mediterranean retreat.
Law’s commitment to preserving the era's essence is evident in her careful approach to renovations. Each update enhances the home's charm while remaining faithful to its historical roots. The result is a residence that pays homage to its heritage while catering to modern sensibilities. Enjoy!

Hollywood in the 1920s was a magical time. To live in a Spanish style house from that era would be a dream. This young lady is so right to preserve it in its era. It is charming.
Love that she respects the architecture and history of the house. I wish more people would do that especially in LA
Me too! These homes should be historically protected IMHO. Once they are all gone, they are gone forever. America so often does not appreciate history. And these homes are only 100 years old. They should be preserved. We love to destroy things in America just to put up some huge new build piece o' crap. Have I shared too much?
Yes! That original bathroom is gorgeous and timeless.
I am never tired of looking at Spanish homes. There is something magical there. So glad to hear that lots of original elements are safe and staying ❤
Spanish style homes are extremely classy and some over 100 years old. Why don’t they make homes like this anymore? I’m always perplexed how suburban homes lack interest .
Its complicated but in short, in the past, homes were advertised as being built to last; something to be passed down through generations. Now ppl move every 5-10 yrs and due to the accelerating neoliberal financialization of the US economy since the 1980s, houses are financial vehicles and not just a place to live. So its not financially relevant to build to last, only to maximize sq footage and flip.
Gentrification kills style
Even the new homes in the Hollywood Hills are hideous monstrosities. Their only goal seems to be big. My sister lives in a stunning building from the 1920s in Beachwood Canyon too, but when developers and property owners filled in all that Hollywoodland space decades later, they surrounded all those beautiful Mission-style homes with crap. It's such a shame.
There are still very many beautiful, excellently built homes, but in California homes are built differently now for safety reasons - for example to be earthquake proof - and environmental reasons. There are far FAR more codes and regulations forcing homes to be unoriginal and standardised, just as most modern cars look the same because political regulation is the biggest factor in design. In urban places the population density is a multiple of what it was in the 1920s so a far higher percentage of the purchase price is just the plot of land, the house build itself has to be cheaper to be affordable. Homes that survive centuries are the best homes and the most distinctive, they did build a lot of substandard stuff and it’s been demolished.
Having grown up in Albuquerque this style of home is in my blood. Lovely home nice to see original details appreciated. Thank you for sharing!
A real gem, and it’s so nice that this young woman appreciates its provenance and style.
Prior to my husband’s passing, we also had a 100 year old home near Pasadena and the finishes she highlights just made me smile. It was a privilege owning an historic home with hopes that future owners are also loving caretakers. Awesome video! 💕
Glad to hear she’s over open concept layouts. I have an 1908 home and love that each room has its own personality :)
Completely agree.

Beautiful home! I love that she cooks in her amazing kitchen and she is preserving and restoring the character of this wonderful house. Thank you Homeworthy and to the gracious homeowner for another wonderful tour🎉
Obviously an educated, sophisticated young woman. Beautiful home.
I am a native Californian (Los Angles area) and have been living on the eastern side of the country for 20 years. I had friends who lived on Beachwood Drive and so it was an extra pleasure to see this episode. Bravo to "Law" for appreciating the histoic integrity of her Spanish home! That kitchen is jewel and the bathroom is a classic. What a treat to watch and thank you for another excellent episode.
I felt so happy as she showed us through her home. She has exercised restraint and stewardship - rare qualities these days. I didn’t worry or feel stressed about the choice of art or a wall that had been knocked down, or whatever. Leaving the courtyard as-is was the right choice. She understands the architecture and goes with it. I wish her many happy and successful years in her chosen profession. She is a real and rare talent.
Thank you for being so dedicated to preserving this beautiful home! As a native Angelino, it breaks my heart to see all these people move to LA, buy homes only to tear them down or rip out all of their original details
This home hits just the right spot aesthetically with good light, a feeling of space and a relaxed indoor/outdoor feeling. So relieved Law is paying attention to the original style. The colour choice for the kitchen cupboards is perfect against the kitchen tile. Also strongly agree with maintaining separate rooms so much more intimate. A 10 out of 10 for me!
I grew up in Los Angeles and the Spanish architecture feels like home to me. This home with the courtyard is stunning, comfortable yet elegant and I love the eclectic styles that come together in such a lovely way. I’m familiar with the area the home is in and it’s a beautiful section of the Hollywood Hills. A dream of a home…thank you for sharing.
I live in a 100 yr old Spanish home in Santa Barbara… it’s huge, beautiful, and I love it♥️☮️🙋♀️🥰‼️
You are so blessed, sounds wonderful.
Beyond… and I never take it for granted🙏🏻💕
This young lady has an "old soul"; her love for the vintage aspects of this home is a pleasure. Eclectic fits the personality of the home owner. You can definitely see the influence of her youth sprinkled throughout. You never see an ugly Spanish style home. The vintage main bathroom would be fun to put a wonderful wallpaper. Lovely!!
This is one of my favorite house tours! Absolutely love the Spanish homes and relaxed vibe.
Oh my, that French black wrought iron chandelier in the dining room steals the show. A lovely home with great flow, perfect for entertaining or just quietly enjoying the outdoors. Who has a Juliette balcony practically inside an old Avocado tree? Love her sense of style and how she made a variety of styles seamlessly work together. Those Talavera tiles were the perfect choice. Love her art choices throughout the home. A mix of quiet elegance, French and Spanish aesthetics, a penchant for understatement and interesting antiques alongside global design influence that all well-traveled people seem to acquire. Lovely home, a talented designer, and a truly inspiring, enjoyable tour! THX!
I like that this house is not sterile. It’s cozy and beautiful. I too love individual rooms in a house. I love the kitchen as is. You and your mother did a great job.
I love California’s Spanish colonials. What I love most about this home is the paved courtyard, I would love to have one like it.
This is by far,my favorite tour of a Spanish home, ever! I love everything about this home, including how you’ve styled it. No joke,I’ve already watched this video 4x.
A beautiful decorated home with unique and special things collected through the years. Loved the paintings. The Talavera tiles around the fireplace were a perfect choice. Thank you to the lovely young lady for allowing us into her home.
What a fantastic home! She has made it more authentic and beautiful. I live in California and know how lucky she is to have this lovely place.
Give me a Spanish home built in the 1920's! My favorite. Gorgeous home!
I think if I could pick any style of home, it would be this one. It’s so lovely and real-nothing pretentious or cold. Thanks so much for sharing this gorgeous home and its beautiful caretaker.
Love this home! Spanish Revival is one of my favorites and the way the outdoors and indoors flow together is wonderful. Law's style works great with it, but I think the best part is she understands when, as she says, things are already exactly as they should be.
Love,Love,Love the Kitchen.....this is what I have been envisioning for my 1971 Ranch.....this entire house is amazing....so refreshing that a lot of the original elements are left intact....that is what makes older homes unique and inviting.....I will be watching this video again and again.....✌️💜💋
I'm so glad she is trying to keep it as original as possible. As she said about homes like that they are "few and far between". Love the courtyard! I wish Homeworthy would cut down a little on the talking, or least group it better. Some information was repeated when I would have preferred seeing more of the house. The flow of the videos can get annoying.
It’s so nice to see a designer’s home that is comfortable and lived in! So many of them feel like cold design museums where you’re afraid to touch anything, let alone sit down. It’s also nice to see a designer so committed to the original style of the home! Beautiful!
I love this home. It would be a dream to live in a home with a courtyard like she has. I love that she is keeping the integrity of the era and style as well.
Same
I had seen different style of homes. I tried to convince myself to go for TINY HOUSE STYLE..BUT MY HEART ❤️ says.....SPANISH HOMES with heritage characteristics & this comes.. THANKS HOMEWORTHY for showing this DREAM of mine.
One of my favorite styles of house, so much fun to be given a tour. Thank you!
How I wish I could wake up in this home. So full of character…and the courtyard! Just lovely.
Really quaint. Well done. The courtyard.. the balconies, the gate inside.. the decor . The white walls.. perfection.
LOL @ quaint 😂
Beautiful home reflecting her own style and taste while honoring the architecture and character of an historic building. Well done.
What a beautiful home and hostess. Decorated to perfection. I definitely have to watch this again. Thank you so much for sharing.
Ah yes, the feeling of Peace, historic ambience transends throughout. This is a perfect setting in a wild world we live in. A sanctuary to be loved and lived in and treasured! Denmark 🇩🇰
I love what she’s done with this house and think she has great style. It’s beautiful!
I am so happy with the Hollywood Hills house tour. I always seek out HH houses as they are my favorite architecture. I'm glad E. Law said she will use tile on the countertop when she does the kitchen. It will just go beautifully with the house.
So wonderful to keep as much original as possible. The bathroom is a real gem. The whole house is lovely.
My favorite style home, its like you're on an intriguing adventure from the past.
Very cool house. My only advice would be to get a nice fountain for the courtyard. It would look and sound great and you can’t kill it like a flower bed.
Ahhh…it would be nice to have a fountain, but unfortunately in that area there are possums, raccoons, even tree rats and other varmints who would come nightly to the courtyard because of the water…especially in the warm months😢
We have constant drought issues so no
@@Vieweratlargeand our droughts
@@carrisagrace1 the water is recirculating. It doesn’t have to be a large fountain (that holds a lot of water) to obtain the look and sounds.
@@Vieweratlarge I live in the woods. I never had an issue sharing a fountain with the wildlife.
I fell in love with Spanish style homes when we lived in New Mexico. I especially love the ones with a central courtyard like yours. Your house is gorgeous! I'm so glad you kept your original bathroom with that lovely tile. And that Avocado tree is everything!
I love this house! My type of styling. Nothing boring and it’s not over done. I agree with her about open plan loving. Can’t stand it!!
My late mom loved the Mediterranean style homes and I've always loved that architecture too. The turret front door is amazing. I'm glad that she has a love and admiration for this beautiful home and that courtyard is lovely. We can't forget about the painting by early Hollywood actress Janet Gaynor, who was very famous in the early days of Hollywood. That is also a piece of history!
What an awesome young woman. Very natural, laidback and sophisticated. Beautiful beautiful home. Great work 🤍
I love this house and I love that she respects its architectural and integrity.
The bathroom is delicious ♥️
Glad she kept it original.
Same. Refreshing.
Now this is my type of home! I love that she has kept so much of the original fixture and tiles. I love the mixtures of styles, the vintage furnishings, the textiles from all over the world, the candleholders, the many candles, the books, the colorways… everything. Though I’m not usually a lover of white on white, I love that she has otherwise incorporated lots of color and wood tones. It’s a beautiful and comfortable home that you wouldn’t be scared to sit down in.
That huge candelabra is so cool. I’ve been wanting something like that forever. I need to finally bite the bullet and do it lol.
I love older homes. In my opinion, they have a lot of charm. She has a beautiful home. And her doggy was so cute :)
the house itself is beautiful. and glad to see she has kept original features that so many others would rip out. the design is competent but unremarkable, I was genuinely surprised to learn she does interior design for a living.
I think her decor is 💯 suitable for this home. She doesn’t over decorate, it’s unique to her, and she lets this stunning home BREATHE!
@@traceye.6428I don’t disagree…lord knows there are overdecorated houses abound on this channel (imo) but this feels like nice things in nice rooms. No more, no less. (Her art choices are great though!) But I bet in time it will come together more.
Yeah, I was a little surprised to learn she went to Parsons. But I love the home and a lot of her choices. And she's darling.
Love this collected home! Shes got great style! Just beautiful!
I live in a house over 100 years old, I also have all the walls in every room white, and then build colour, vintage items, appropriate scale to room size, probably look amazing in any style home, but always start with a white canvas and then change your colour choices of cushions, blankets etc, you can’t go wrong ❤
So much character and history packed into one beautiful home . Refreshing to see her keeping the history intact.
Thank for the conservation of the soul of this beautiful and unique Spanish Revival House 🌞🧡
What a gorgeous home ! Thank you, dear Law, for keeping all the original gems... like that bathroom! Heart melted.
🏡 🌴 I just came across this video and I have enjoyed it immensely! I was born and raised in Southern California, grew up in a house from 1929 Spanish stucco. It’s just so reminiscing of those times growing up here… We have the French window panes, the picture window with the French window panes Windows that you could almost walk through. They were so big and the arches and all the things… Our bathroom was purple white and black tile lol which my mother did change in the 80s ha ha thank you for this magnificent tour of your beautiful home. I love it so much! 💛
I love the home and that courtyard is fabulous. I personally can't do a lot of brown and muted colors I find it depressing. However, it's probably soothing to her after working with clients and color all day. I loved that closet space and the lightness of her bedroom. That bathroom was adorable. My grandparents had one that was pink and black. I also am a lover of Santa Fe style as I've lived in NM twice, all over New England, MX and the past few years abroad. Yes, to Morocco and the Mediterranean style. What a soothing environment for herself and her dog. I also had a golden who lived to 18.5 yrs.
I love OLD Hollywood. I grew up in San Diego, we have many cities with old beautiful Spanish, Colonial, Victorian… I was hoping she’d give us information on the trunk in her dining room. It looks very similar to the one in my dining room. One of my sisters, designers picked it up but I don’t have much information on it. Mine has wooden wheels and little compartments in the upper portion of the trunk. It makes space for tons of storage. I love that piece.
😊😊😊😊😊
❤Love ❤️ This ❤
What a beautiful Spanish home! So many unique features (let’s have a moment of silence for the features lost to time)- and she’s done an amazing job of filling her home with pieces she loves. I’ve seen some homes that are so overworked- this home is tasteful, relaxed and beautifully curated.
Thank you so much for the respect you have for your beautiful vintage home! Especially for preserving that gorgeous black and yellow bathroom! I also agree with you that tile countertops are appropriate and look great in your kitchen. I believe it is our responsibility as stewards of these historic homes to try to preserve them as much as possible in their original era. Happy 2024!
So comfortable and gracious is this home and the owner. Love that she shares it with a nice, big, dog.
Fabulous!! When you have an older home, you can incorporate many styles and it works! Awesome job on styling your home, Law!
The living room, kitchen, and outdoor area of this house remind me so much of the Hallie Meyers' movie At Home. Any other of Nancy Meyer film addicts agree? I think her kitchen is my favorite room.
This is a Nancy Meyers movie I haven't seen, I will look the movie up.
Hallie Myers did a great job with her remake of "The Parent Trap" (1998). That's one that I liked more than the original with Hayley Mills. Natasha Richardson was wonderful as Elizabeth, frantically trying to get ready for the trip to California. We miss Natasha.
Gorgeous casa! Full of our California heritage 🇪🇸🇲🇽 I love the white walls and art deco details added in with the Spanish! Just my style
Beautiful home and decor. Very warm and welcoming.
Stylish , full of lovely things but tastefully curated with space to breathe .
It’s one of my favourites
Love the Spanish style. That courtyard screams entertaining! Almost like a restaurant patio. The iron gates into the kitchen and that powder room wallpaper, oh my!!!!!❤
A wonderful Spanish home and beautifully decorated. Love the court yard. Blessings.
What a fabulous home! I love everything about it. That would be my dream house ❤
My favorite Homeworthy video features the home of Rebecca Vizard in Louisiana, posted in September 2023. The owner has such a charming way of sharing her love for her home, not just her house.
Absolutely beautiful. Glad she shared it. Would like to be a guest in that home for a dinner party.
Perfect host, thank you for sharing your beautiful Spanish home.
I love Spanish homes 😍
Gorgeous! Thank you for keeping as much of the original home's elements. Stunning craftsmanship and design. So many wonderful things to look at and appreciate in this home, however the MIRRORS through out are truly next level!!! 🙌🙌
Just stellar. ✨ And I couldn’t agree more on the ever-tired open floor plan. Let’s say it again for the people in the back.
really enjoyed this tour! Love how she incorporates family heirlooms with her collected esthetics! Well done Law!
I live here in Santa Fe and I’m also from LA, so it’s nice that some loves this town as much as I do.
Oh I loved this episode. My youngest daughter lived in the LA area and we would go stay for weeks in her guest house. Our favorite hike was up the “secret steps” in the Beachwood Canyon and we would hike all the way up to the Hollywood sign. We did this several times a week. The homes were amazing. Thanks for sharing this home with us.
I love this structure…
And the collected pieces brought into the home because they meant something or struck a chord in her emotions … urging the desire to take me home
Which is in my opinion why anything you bring into your space should be there
Her life surrounds… the memories
Will forever bring a smile
YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL HOME!...IT IS SOOO INVITING AND PEACEFUL! THANKS FOR SHARING!!
"I love this home! It's unpretentious and warm.
Without sounding like a wanker...
I would move the kimono to the bedroom. It would look more cohesive with the bedside tables. The art, pillow, and throw are all too much together. Hanging the throw above the bed would look better. I have done this with old bamboo, which I hand-sewed or used velcro strips. That bathroom is so lovely. Great, you are keeping it. I am glad you are taking your time with the kitchen; so many people get it wrong and end up with an over-indulged, soon-to-date kitchen - simple is best for this home. I love your style. Be proud of your lovely home-
I love your home and that you have decided to leave the original touches! God bless!
one of the coolest home owners i’ve seen on these type of home tours
The charm of the architecture paired with the Hollywood backdrop is pure magic. Thanks for taking us on this nostalgic journey! 🎬🌴
Such a beautiful home. One of my favourites.
beautiful home! love Spanish style!
Such a joy to watch this video, love your home ,thanks for sharing ♥️
Beautiful home. A perfect oasis tucked among the trees. So special💜
This gorgeous Spanish Style home instantly reminded me of my childhood home, except our was not as fancy, was it on a hill, but it was also built in 1923!!
I definitely would comment on how nice & cool it felt inside, compared to the outside hot summer days! That is because of the lath & plaster that was used in its construction bc dry wall panels were not used back then. What a huge difference that makes.
Oh what a dream house!!! To live in Hollywood in an old spanish style house.. what a dream! And PS, a side note.. her hair & nails-😍
Love it and her attitude to keep as much original as possible ❤
The outdoor spaces are just as impressive as the indoors. A perfect balance of comfort and aesthetics. 💛
Always my favorite house style!!
I love that you kept the style true to the history . It’s welcoming, cozy, and sophisticated ❤
Love the home so much. It reminds me of my great uncle's Spanish Revival in Point Loma. We'd go for Christmas Eve when I was very young. Loved the velvet drapes on wrought iron rods, the phone niche and all the tile work. When I last saw it on Zillow I could have cried. The niche, wrought iron and velvet were all gone and the walls were painted in some kind of weird Aztec shapes and colors. So sad.
This is my favorite Homeworthy home so far! I love everything about it but especially the courtyard. What a dream.
I love the tile in the bathroom. Beautiful.
Beautiful! I love the non-formal aspect to her design aesthetic. Such a gorgeous home with lovely light. She’s well spoken and easy to listen to. ❤
