I love to watch a master crafts person making item by hand as in this video. After watching a few more videos from here, I hope to start doing it myself. I have bought the tools already.
Getting started feels so good! I started myself a year ago and i finished several small projects. You will love it, using your first selfmade Handy wallet 😊
@@tomgulding1774 I'm repairing classic car leather bench seat at the moment. But, looking forward to making items like the wallet.
Beautiful leather, edge stain and thread combination. Excellent knife and stitching skills as well. What a pleasure to watch.
Thank you 🙂 The tan and yellow are a favourite combination of mine ❤
Thanks for sharing. You are probably the most skilled leather worker I have found on CZcams. A true inspiration.
Thank you :-)
OLD LEATHER SMITH here you have a new logo LOOKS GREAT, I am very happy 4 you, GOD'S BLESSINGS SISTER ✝️⚾🙃
Thanks Jim, I'm really happy with it 🙂
Love your vids ... great work, very well done! I use your way to stitch for my own projects .. 😃👍
Great job - as usual. Love the new logo!
Thanks 😊
Sempre bei video e bei lavori!
Saluti dalla Sardegna (Italia)
Very nicely done. Those Abbey pricking irons appear to be very precisely made compared to the finish on my old Dixon irons. Some of the bigger irons (3 -4 seiches /inch) that were for traces had the very expensive" good steel", for the tines forge welded on to the wrought iron body and you can still see the weld line. A bit crude by modern standards. All the best
They are a really nice set of irons I am really impressed with them. I have others from Dixon's from before they went out of business and these Abbey ones are much nicer.
Simple & durable
Congratulation. Great job. I liked so much.
Thanks a lot!
Easy (to do)
Nice (result)!
Thank you 🙂
Very nice build
I'm glad you like it
I made such wallet on my 1st week of watching "how to work with leather .." on CZcams. Too me 3 hours. Pretty easy to make it if you cut leather properly in the beginning.
I think this is just an easy product which can't cost more then 10 dollars.
What do you think?
great video. also like the new look of your logo, (business logo)
Thanks Wayne, glad to hear you like the logo 🙂
Awesome
Hi Jo. I'm a new starter to leather. I downloaded you plans, and this was my (somewhat ambitious) first project. I've now got a beautiful wallet - a few minor issues, but very minor, and I know where I've not had some skills up to scratch (edge crease is a tiny bit wonky!) But a QUESTION for you! What glue do you use? I tried Evostik and it was horribly stringy. Yours seems a little more manageable! Thanks in advance. Keep up the great videos!
Heya, I use a contact adhesive called Bostik 6092 Neoprene adhesive for pretty much all of my glueing. I haven't used the evostik before but if you are using it in a cold environment it may be making it more stringing (scientific terminology there...). Hope that helps.
You're the mannnn! I love your channel and your content is so informative! You have inspired me to make a new vid/giveaway, would love if you could give me some feed back!!
Thats awesome! Glad I have inspired you to do the videos 🙂
Очень красиво 👍
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful work. What weight leather do you recommend for wallets and billfolds? 3-4?
Thank you Gerry, all the info on leathers is included in the patter pack.
Hi Jo, the skiving you’re doing at 3 minutes 50 seconds is on the grain side. Although it can’t be seen, it does leave a slightly unsightly (hidden) finish. Could you achieve the same reduction in thickness but, eave the full grain side intact by skiving the flesh side?
Hey Leigh, I skived on the flesh side of the pockets.
Nice! What do you use for staining the edges?
Hiya, I make my own stain for my blacks and brown edge stains, you can see how I make them here > czcams.com/video/hPJL7311020/video.html
Hello and thank you for this tutorial.
I have a newbie question though. What thickness of wire do you need?
This is not specified in the PDF instructions.
Many thanks from France.
I use 0.55 mm thread with 002 John James harness needles
Great job! Quick question, on the two inside pockets, one side you stitched it and the stitching was covered by the outside pocket, but the second, there was no stitching. Is the glue enough to hold it? Or did I miss something? Thank you! :-)
The one without stitching is a slightly larger pocket for receipts and notes so doesn't get stitched across 👍
Muy buenos vídeos y excelentes trabajos pero sugiero que si podrían subtitular en español, gracias
Thank you
Lovely. What make of edge beveller was that?
Thanks Bob, It's an old one I got from Abbey England when they sold the hoopers range of edge tools (about 11 years ago)
110lb printer paper can be used to print projects. Thank you
Do you have a tutorial on a ladder stitch
I have lighted my thumb
Dear Jo, i found your pattern on etsy. What do you think about publish a pattern for a wallet with a cash part? There a so many pattern for bifolded wallets, but very few with the pocket for cash. I would buy one first! 👍😀
Do you mean a coin pocket? I have a bifold pattern with a notes section available.
J.H.Leather yes, i meant a coin pocket... 😊
I shall add it to my videos list 🙂
Thanks a lot! 👍👍😁
I don't really get it. What is the difference between punching through all the layers of leather or marking the holes and using awl to make them?! Wont it be a time-saver just punch them through?
It depends on what you are making and what you are used to. If you were making anything from thick leather or a buckle turn then punching your pricking irons through isn't really an option. Also sometimes you may still need an awl to make the hole bigger so your needles can get through.
@@JHLeather I really like your awl because of short tooth of it. You use it to the end so the sizes of all holes coming the same. What is this type of awl called I want to get one.
It's a diamond awl blade, I think it's a 1 1/2" bake that I have honed down to how it is now. I got the blade from Abbey England 👍
I have seen many beautiful bags. I want to see the beauty from your face ...^^
Your pairing knife is dull ! And I mean really dull
