Because Dr. Hoodbhoy wanted to serve his motherland Pakistan, to educate students modern science. But in Pakistan, nobody wants to get real educated. His bosses in Jinnah University even blocked his efforts for purely scientific education, without the influence of Islam. Pakistan Govt. did not extend his tenure post retirement. What a pity. Such a gem like him got wasted by the radical society..

when I was a student in US (from India), I was shocked to experience Pak students were always discussing how to take illegal jobs and apply for asylum while Indian kids were busy figuring out scholarships. Most of the Pak students worked in Gas (petrol pumps) stations while Indian kids got campus jobs under good professors who eventually helped them to land lucrative jobs after graduation. I got my job offer 6 months before graduation while my Pakistani friends went missing (when underground to avoid being detected by immigration). Something is wrong with Pakistan culture. Pakistanis take pride in cheating the system. But in the end system cheats them of opportunities. Pakistani students have hard time getting A grade. Mostly C. They take pride in C grade and suffer from inferiority complex. One more trait that I see is, most of them introduce themselves as desi. Never as Pakistani. They are ashamed of their country and culture.

How a mind of a Muslim that has been in a state of idleness for centuries could show a capacity to think? Women, half-covered, sit faceless listening to facts impossible to bear. Are they thinking? Their idleness led to the great Holocaust of 1947 in India. The same idleness of the Muslims led to the Genocide in Bengal in 1971. In both disasters, the religious scruples remained constant. How to save Muslims from themselves in a polity of Muslims remains an enigma?

There's something called 'corporate social responsibility' (csr). Indian govt has developed this policy that industrialists and big companies mandatorily contribute in social activities which includes contribution towards education. That's the mindset difference. Some companies genuinely want to make the difference and some companies make contribution to build their name and advertisement. But overall Quality of education and public institutes is multiplying either ways..

We are glad to see Prof Pervez Hoodbhoy, Professor Ishtiaq Ahmed, and many others criticizing the Two-Nation Theory, questioning the partition of India, and exposing Jinnah. In India, intellectuals and professors are also lambasting Gandhi.
However, the credit for initiating this discourse goes to author Nasim Yousaf. He was the first writer to expose Jinnah and Gandhi's dirty politics in his two separate books on Allama Mashriqi and Jinnah (published in 2007) and Allama Mashriqi and Gandhi (published in 2013). He criticized Jinnah and Gandhi’s politics, the partition of India, and the Two-Nation Theory long before professors, intellectuals, and the public started to question them. There was a time when Jinnah and Gandhi were heroes, but the situation has fast changed, and people with political acumen do not consider them heroes, rather tools in the hands of the British.
According to author Nasim Yousaf, "It has been established that Jinnah and Gandhi helped the British in partitioning India. Moreover, Pakistan was created by the British and not by Jinnah. Under these circumstances, writing more books supporting Jinnah and Gandhi and their politics is not a good use of time. It is now necessary to write more about how Jinnah and Gandhi helped the British to divide India. Why did Allama Mashriqi refuse to support Jinnah and Gandhi? People need to know this interesting and eye-opening information. Such a book would be in great demand and read by a large number of people."

1st reason, One of the main fundamental reason why Pakistan going back ward - - Most of the people of Pakistan don't know that The colonial system of jaghirdar / jamindar was abolished during land reforms in former East Bengal / East Pakistan now (Bangladesh) in 1950,India in 1951 but still it is totally absence in Pakistan. Still Pakistan protecting the colonial system of jaghirdar and General's and establishments. When 1% ( jaghirdar and Punjabi Ruling Elite and Army Establishment ) of pakistan controls 99 % Pakistan then Nothing will be OK.That 1% was a gift of colonial British mindset. People of East Bengal realized that colonial mindset from 1st day but still people of Pakistan living in Denial mindset of colonialism.2ND Reason why Pakistan going back ward that is majority people of Pakistan are not serious about their country. 3rd reason is that people of Pakistan are sleeping last 75 years but don't want to wake up and those people of East Bengal did wake up and fight for equal rights & justice from first day to 1971 they're now one of the fastest growing nation in the world. 4th fundamental reason pakistan and the people of pakistan systematically destroy own identical roots , language ,traditional values and heritage of ethnicity and diversity. Another reason is that people of Pakistan always take short cut policy and their is no long-term futuristic Sustainable development program or plan for future - No Educational & Socioeconomically plan but still waiting for next Sultan or kind of Leader to Grow. Last 75 years Pakistan made a lollypop mindset in Pakistan that Pakistan and people of Pakistan are only greatest and Rightful but rest of the world fake & false . It's a multi organ failure of Pakistan. It's too late to make changes in course correction after 75 years in the DNA of Pakistan.it's a martial race nation and its not a country for the people but it's a country for jaghirdar and General's with colonial setup of mindset and still living in confused Denial mindset and conspiracy mentality and it became self-destructive nation. 1% ( jaghirdar and Punjabi Ruling Elite and Army Establishment ) use Pakistan as a strategic depth to sell own land and sovereignty to the foreign power and create different types of Armed Terror group for Billion USD and destroying neighbor's but when you keeping snake in your backyard and expect them to only bite your neighbor's but that snake bite you too . Pakistan became as a garrison state with colonial setup. Pakistan is an over Militarilise state. It's neither a Islamic nor a democratic country.Socially- Politically - Economically and Mentally Pakistan became Black Hole and still Pakistan is existing part of colonial legacy . If the Grass look greener on the other side of the world. Stop comparing, Stop complaining and Start watering the grass you are standing on.*PAKISTAN SE ZINDA BAAGH *🙈🙉🙊.

Raw talent and intelligence are the cheapest things on the subcontinent. Every second person is one or the other or both. USELESS until you have the educational and support systems to develop them. There are ANY number of Indians who start / have started off life in very humble circumstances and who utilize / have utilized the education system to climb to the very top of their field. India's former President, A P J Abdul Kalam, started life as a fisherman's son in a tiny hut in an unelectrified, remote village. Former PM, Manmohan Singh, a renowned economist, was born in West Punjab, and started his education as a refugee studying under street lights. Present PM, Narendra Modi, famously started as a tea-boy at a railway station. There are literally hundreds of thousands of such stories in academicia, business and the professions. When Pakistan produces their first such person, it'll have arrived. Forget that - when Pakistanis learn to admire such persons among themselves, BEFORE they are successful, they'll know they are on the way to arrival: in India even a street urchin who displays talent is recognized - even idolized and feted - and some person or organization will invariably come forward to assist his education.

Creation of Pakistan itself on religion basis was wrong.
India has invested heavily on the education system.
We love our country, India runs in our blood, our armed forces do not interfere in the domestic affairs of the country.
Pakistan's obsession with kashmir is primarily responsible for its downfall.
Pakistan could not win a single war against India, so started using terrorism and promoted terrorists.
Pakistan's defence budget is huge compared to its GDP, citing threat from India as an excuse.
Pakistan did not encourage local industry so nothing to export apart from salt, football, cricket bats and garments, a u-turn from this point looks impossible as pakistan cannot service its own debts.

Education system of India is also quite bad. At least Pakistanis have courage to accept that their education system is bad. All the IITs, IIMs and good universities of India are islands of excellence in a sea of mediocrity. Maybe the cream of India performs better than the cream of Pakistan but most of the average students of both the countries seems to be essentially unemployable.

Hoodbhoy's comment on Middle East rejecting Pakistani doctors is false. The MD postgraduation degree, which only a handful of Pakistani doctors have, was banned in Middle East since it is not accredited by the Pakistan Medical Council. Most Pakistani doctors have FCPS postgraduation degree which is still in-demand there. Hoodbhoy's comment on Pakistani doctors not being admitted in the US is also false. USMLE registration now requires WFME accreditation which was suspended not only for Pakistan, but also for India.

SIr but dont you think this based on the founding of the country itself? Based on religion and exceptionalism based on what religion they follow. This was the basic flaw. But it is easier to get out of this and change attitude - you dont have to collapse the system - all you have to do is face facts and deal in facts - accept that it was wrong to carve nation based on religion. Then move on and say what needs to be done to build a nation. Focus on science, education, math - not on religion, violence , unfinished partition, India etc - move away from past and look towards the future. That will change attitudes.

i think apart from the fundamental issues which have been rightly highlighted by Parvez Hoodbhoy, another problem with us is that we are overly obsessed with India. why do we have to look at india for everything? india was not comparable to pakistan even at the time of independence. Pakistan is a much smaller country then india and despite being a part of British India there are many fundamental differences between the 2 countries. its better to compare Pakistan with other success stories like Philippines and Vietnam which had to face hard situations in the past and are now doing much better. even Malaysia and turkey can be good examples in may things.
