Ravensburger puzzle 3000 - Sognefjord Norwegen ( Time lapse )

  • It was very interesting putting them together, especially with the fact that three pairs of pieces can switch places(I record only one pair because the other two pairs was very hard to se with eye, so it would not look different on the camera). I have never seen something like this in my life. In general, this puzzle is not so difficult for putting together because there is a lot of different colors and just small part of sky. A little bit harder parts are grass and stones above the river. Video was made on the way that one picture was taken every 10 seconds. If you have any questions, write them in the comments.

    Ravensburger puzzles are outstanding as the fit of each piece is very exact. There's no question when two pieces fit.

      Buffalo is a very good brand. And crazy as it may sound, must PuzzleBug (not Cardinal as Cardinal sucks), most PB from the dollar store, if not all of that same brand, are of very good quality.

Now puzzle is in box, but when I want to see how they look assembled I have just 10 minutes of work and puzzle is again completed! Thank you for watching my video!

      I've been trying to do a 3000 piece one for years now... Don't always have space for it. I break down what I have together in the same fashion, and have different sections/colors separated in ziplock bags. Everything fits in the box and is easy to set up.

      What I do it's a little better, I first measure the size of the box and then I use a flat ruler or whatever to separate the "pieces chunks" from under the puzzle, that way I don't have to remove those "lines" like in the video.

First blue sky because it is the only part with this color, then houses, boat and water, then green color, purple mouintain and for the end cliffs. Wow, so you didn't have to look to the image picture again, just join the pieces like if you had already known the pic. Do you have a method to solve puzzles? I saw that you started to solve the edges, second you did the minimum area with the same color, in this case sky. Then do the objects and then the grass very quickly. Does each piece have a different shape so was easy to find the next or how? I'd like to know because it seem more efficient than my method :(

    • @thepuzzleman
      @thepuzzleman  Před 5 lety +6

      +Davidshiro Thide I always start puzzle by solving edges and then I make some plan how will I continue solving puzzle. In this case, I wanted to get rid off the sky first because there was not so much sky and it was very different color than the rest of the picture. Once I have done the sky, I went to solve next part of picture that was different color than the rest of it. In this case, it was a group of houses, than river with boat and then green part in the lower left corner because it was smaller than part with the cliff. Long story short, this was my strategy for this puzzle. Of course, you have to make new strategy for each puzzle, but I always first separate pieces that will fit the edge, than I usually separate pieces that are very different color or that are in small number in regards to other pieces. If those pieces are similar by color to each other, than I separate them by shape like I did in this video with the section of the sky. I apologize for being late with the comment and thank you very much for watching! :)

    Actually it's not just 2 pieces but the entire puzzle. Every piece has exactly one identical counterpart. If you look closely around those 2 that you misplaced, you realize that all the other nearby pieces are also identical. They are most likely on the same row so the left hand side of the puzzle is identical to the right hand side. Well, at least this is the case with my 5k puzzle.

    • @thepuzzleman
      @thepuzzleman  Před 4 lety +1

      I did wrote in the description of video that I found 3 pairs of identical pieces, so there should be more of them and your theory should be correct. :) At least for 5000 pieces as you said. I recieved a comment once wich pointed me this fact. Puzzles of 5000 pieces have repeating "blocks" of pieces, which in theory means you could put the puzzle together in a totaly different combination of pieces. :D Interesting to try...

    • @lukachinchli
      @lukachinchli Před 4 lety

      @@thepuzzleman This is a follow up on my theory. I just read an entire scientific paper on symmetries in large Ravensburger puzzles. Apparently one 9k puzzle consists 8 identical sections (blocks), so there will be 8 identical copies of each piece. Mine, which is called Tower of Babel, has 4 such sections (previously I though it was only 2), and I think so does your's. So a valid strategy, which people use when solving such puzzles, is to complete one section that in turn makes solving the rest of them much easier as you already know the exact shape to look for, which saves a lot of time. Just wanted to give this as a suggestion for future projects.
      P.S. The paper goes into more detail on which shapes are more likely to go together suggesting more strategies on solving each individual section even faster. However I found that these are not applicable to mine, probably because it's a newer puzzle then those mentioned in the paper.

      Thanks! For this video I set camera to took one picture every 5 seconds. Usually I would set it on 15 seconds because of 3000 pieces, but I thought that I won't need so much time to put together this puzzle because it has different colours and it does not has a lot of the sky. :)

      Thanks! :D All photographies, video parts and complete time lapse in this video was filmed with my smartphone Sony Xperia M4 Aqua and some time lapse app. I bought it primarily as a smartphone for myself, not because of CZcams, but since it had pretty good camera for my needs, I recorded few videos with it. Later, as you can see in one of my videos, I bought Samsung Galaxy S8. Again, it was not because of CZcams, but because I started college and I needed stronger, more reliable and newer smartphone. Since then, I am more and more into photography and videography and a year ago I bought myself Nikon dslr camera. Some parts of future videos will be recorded with dslr for sure, so you can expect even better quality videos in the future. :)

    Never assembled a Ravensburger before, but all the ones I assembled have a certain grid that repeats itself over and over on the puzzle.
    For example, a 5000p puzzle with 100x50 (width x height) pieces had a grid of 25x25 pieces repeating itself 8 times along the puzzle (4x2).
    That meant you could find a piece that would perfectly fit on 8 places in the whole puzzle. In the video you showed the 2 pieces with the same format, but notice that all the pieces around should all be the same and interchangeable as well. Finding the grid on a puzzle helps on sections that have the same color, you'd at least know the format of the pieces you need.

    How did u lift the puzzle up without it breaking apart

    • @thepuzzleman
      @thepuzzleman  Před 3 lety

      Ravensburger has so-called Softclick technology. It means that pieces fit with the rest with minimal space between them. This allows you to lift even the whole puzzle without breaking apart. It may not be the case with other brands, although you can do the same with some brands other than Ravensburger. :)

      Yes, for people who have some experience with puzzles, it is let's say cheating. In all my videos combined, I watched picture maybe just few time. I do keep picture on the table for another reason. When I am doing puzzle, people sometimes don't know what picture will be at the end. When picture is on the desk, everybody can see anytime how will puzzle look at the end. :)

    Can someone please tell me why it says 3000 pieces on the box but in the video it's says real number of pieces is 3168.

    • @thepuzzleman
      @thepuzzleman  Před 5 lety +1

      There are 72 columns and 44 rows. When you multiply these two numbers you will get 3168 as total number of pieces. Ravensburger write on the box 3000 because it is a round number. You can imagine how it would look if 3168 was written on the box. For exactly 3000 pieces there should be 60 columns and 50 rows, but then ratio would be different. It would be 6:5 (when you divide it, you get 1.2:1 which means that longer side of puzzle is 1.2 times longer than the short one), but in this case (when there are 72 columns and 44 rows, ratio is 72:44, which divided is 1.63:1), longer side of the puzzle is 1.63 times longer than the short one which automatically means that shape of puzzle is more rectangle than square and this is exactly what you need for puzzles which have picture of a landscape like this one. :) I know this is long comment but I think that a lot of people will better understand why I write real number of pieces on my videos, so thank you for asking this question. :D
