Steve Davis is a legend. I loved watching his own style of snooker playing when I was a young nipper, that joke made me laugh too. Those trick shot were amazing, well done Steve for still showing us how magic you are.
Steve is just a great nice person. The fact is he is one of the best ever snooker players. I respect him for his total respect for Alex Higgins. He and Alex had some very contentious matches yet Steve was strong in character and truth and integrity he spoke highly of Alex in genuine admiration. This for me is the mark of a great person.. Steve is a supreme great player in his own right he could easily have been arrogant but he showed humility. Humility is a strength not weakness.
I have never seen Steve other than on TV at matches, this is a whole new side of this guy for me and possibly for many others, really good to see this and Steve a great player in more relaxed mood and keeping the crown mesmerised I am sure. Well done Steve and the young chap with you doing well also.

So nerve draining when called up in stuff like this, I played a couple of frames against Ray Reardon many years ago when he picked me out and was so nervous, of course I never beat him but I played much better than I thought considering how many were watching, still playing in front of what was a lot of people but actually a small room of people compared to this here almost made me incapacitated at times, I felt like I could not walk let alone take a shot, was really weird. The youngster did great in front of such a big crowd!!
It's hard to believe the transformation from a man known as boring and robotic when he was in his prime and winning just about every competition he played in but hardly the most popular of the top players into the man he is now, a top class pundit and commentator who is one of a handful of players that actually knows what he is talking about, and can know live up to one of the names he was somewhat sarcastically given by the press, Steve "Interesting" Davis.

Knowing English, and being able to translate perfectly on the spot are not quite the same. And to be fair, he's not a professional translator, but a sports commentator, so he doesn't have to deal with translation duties that often.
Well, nowadays everyone is sort of expected to speak English to some degree. And Hungarians are taught foreign languages (for the most part, English) since primary school, or even kindergarten. Not to say it pays off all that well, because our teaching methods are not the best.

Theres something lovely about old snooker players, dont know why but im fond of them all.
It was/is a very social sport so they’re comfortable with being around other people.
