    Maybe your best talk and video yet, Tom. You touch important topics, and also point to the reason why Thai girls go to that step to become a bar worker, or a freelancer. Some of us would never do that, regardless of the money you might make. But I also know that few of us may have had the opportunity to get a good education at a university or such. So I don`t judge, I never would. After a very good education, I still didn`t make half the money of what many girls in Pattaya make, so each to their own. But a good education, and ultimately a good job, will make you enough money so you will have a decent and steady income, and live a good life, also in Thailand. Working as a bargirl or a frelancer is a job very limited in time.
    However, I know there are so many uneducated girls (and boys/men), making only around 10-12.000 baht a month as a waitress in a restaurant, or such. And for instance 7/11 workers have hardly even that. All respect to them for not falling into the nightlife business, with that income.
    Also remember that it is expected from us to provide for our parents when they get older. In Thailand, the "pension" for non-government workers is very, very low. Before it was nothing at all, but Thaksin started a project to change that, and it started out with 600 baht a month pension to the elderly, raising to around 1000 baht today, I believe, if not higher. Very limited, but it is a start. The rest is up to their kids to support. Thanks, Tom, keep up the good work 🤗

      I hope your job is going good

    Your question is simple to answer. When the bars either get too greedy or are forced to charge prices that people aren't willing to pay, they hang out in the streets. Don't kid yourself about the economy, things are slow around the world. Which would explain the extremely low season. Unfortunately it won't be better for awhile.

      @MargaritasinParadise  Před 23 dny +1

      Valid points. There's always going to be a low & high season when it comes to the economy in Thailand. This year has been really bad so far and theres still 3 1/2 months to go until high season starts again. Contributing factors like the world economy doesn't normally get attributed here but you are definitely right.

    There hasn't been a high season in Pattaya since 2007 .
    You said people are happy to pay more money for nightlife entertainment. That's simply not true or it wouldn't be dead with bars closed everywhere.
    The quality in Pattaya is well down .
    I hope it's quiet when I arrive at the end of September.
    Brilliant video
    Cheers

      Haha, spoken from experience. Seems like I have always just missed the good ole days. Personally I think, this last high season for nightlife was a record breaker. Obviously it didn't reflect that in tourism #'s. In Nov-Mar the Wong Amat Beach area was packed every night compared to now (it's a wasteland) You're definitely right about quality. Seems the internet and high end gogo's are snagging the best talent but paying a premium as well. I'm old school will only pay certain prices, unfortunately many show up and compare prices to what it cost where they are from. They see the value and never question paying inflated prices. Heck, they think it's so good of a deal that even pay extra which further drives prices up.
      Someone mentioned in the USA, people will pay $50K for a car. That's ridiculous in my book but I know the only reason prices have risen so high is that people are willing to pay the price. Same here in Thailand.
      September is a great time of the year to be in Thailand. Hopefully, you'll have 2 months before the brunt of tourist return and the weather will be much more tolerable.
      Thanks Again

    Good info and perspective as usual. Can’t imagine seeing your friend’s daughter on Walking Street. Sad but as you say - just an example of reality in Thailand. As to low season, I can imagine how bad it is given all the growth post pandemic. There was so much optimism and investment post pandemic that I saw the market being over saturated. One of these days I’ll have to come off season just to witness it myself.

      I know exactly what you mean. The one thing that drives me crazy is buying a drink for a girl then watching the girl sit at another table or two drinking other drinks. 1 girl told me she was multi-tasking. Any more, I always ask before a girl sits down with me if she has already used the toilet and is sitting with me the entire time prior to buying a drink. 😂

    Very good video. Touched on a little different subject matter. At the end of the day wherever you live in the world everybody has there own ways. At least Thailand seems to be world friendly and the people there seem to be humble (i think), smart and maybe with the attitude of live and let live??. As you said maybe just as little as 20 years ago it could have been classified as 3rd world. At least Thailand wants to be modern instead of some places in the world that prefers on living in the dark ages. As for the making money how can you blame someone for wanting to make 10x more money? Anyway thanks again for a interesting video......

    did you make it out to Jomtien beach to metal detect that deep beach cut? Afer storm erosion, that is always been most productive hunting for me on US and Taiwan beaches. Everything heavy in the sand column stays put for the most part, while the sand washes out.

    • @MargaritasinParadise
      @MargaritasinParadise  Před měsícem +1

      I didn't. I know that all of Jomtien beach is rebuilt in the last 2 years and extended out 50-100M otherwise cuts like that would be dreams for diggers in general but I figured the trash would have overwhelming for the long straight area.

    Are there bars in Pattaya with girls but no music ? I dont think a person can have a beer on Soi Buakhao without getting blasted from 3 sides by 3 different bands .

    • @MargaritasinParadise
      @MargaritasinParadise  Před měsícem +1

      That's a tough question. I think there are many bars that have background music where a normal conversation can be had. I would probably try the sports bars like Hemingways or Witherspoons.

    I will come to Pattaya ( and Thailand ) for the first time ever next month. I hear from a lot of people how much more expensive Thailand got over the past decade or two. I hear Vietnam and Cambodia are what Thailand was 20 years ago. Much better bang for the buck. I'm planning to reinvigorate the sex tourism industry all by myself for 2 months LOL. If I have the energy ( I'm 56 ).
    I appreciate your videos, very informative. Maybe when I come I'll buy you a beer ( during happy hour, I'm cheap ) 🤣

      Street food, traveling, and hotels are still cheap in Thailand, In places like Pattaya, alcohol is almost the same price as 20 years ago, what has become much more expensive is the nightlife.

    • @MargaritasinParadise
      @MargaritasinParadise  Před měsícem +3

      @tf628 I look forward to that beer! As
      @jorgenmansson4269 mentioned regular inflation hasn't really hit Thailand. Baht Bus prices, walk-in hotel rooms, beer & massage prices are relatively the same as 20 years ago. Tourism Inflation is another thing. Agoda as an example books rooms based on going rates online, which might be 3X the price of walk-in rate. Nightlife is out of control when prices are being compared to Singapore or Korea.
      Still there's no doubt you will have a great time & if not, then give me a call!
