    This camera is a jewel and as the original owner of my model, I can't give it up.

    Nicely done. A zinc air 675 battery (1.4V) and a small cheap O ring works great for the meter battery.

    A "review" of this camera is almost superfluous as it is legendary. The fact that a couple of generations on young folk get the same feeling about it as I did when I bought mine in the 70s (I still have it) says something about the quality of this camera.

    I have decided to dump almost all of my 35mm SLRs to concentrate on the OM system. I have 3 bodies to send off for overhaul. The first is done and running happily. It isn't really cheap at about $200 per body but I figure they will outlast me now. I'll keep my Minolta XDs and an SRT but the rest have to go.

    Do these lens fit on OMD series without an adapter?

    • @stevantontichphotographyvi9358
      @stevantontichphotographyvi9358  Před 7 lety +1

      No, they don't. You have to use an adapter, and it doubles the focal range. 24mm becomes 48mm, etc. I tried it on my OM-D once or twice, but they gave up.

    The shutter on the OM1 is a bit slow at 1/500 up to about one-third slow and at 1/1000 up to about half a stop, so beware of that to prevent overexposure !

    Do you need batteries for the camera to work

    • @stevantontichphotographyvi9358
      @stevantontichphotographyvi9358  Před 5 lety

      This is a mechanical camera, so for the shutter, aperture and/or focus to work, you do not need batteries. You do need the batteries to get the light meter to work. In other words, it will work as a fully manual camera without batteries and with no meter.

    Not an informative viewfinder but every bit as good as a Nikon FM2. It's the brain that operates the camera NOT vise versa.

    • @stevantontichphotographyvi9358
      @stevantontichphotographyvi9358  Před 2 lety +1

      Hard choice. Om1 is smaller and mechanical. A classic. I had A1 and loved it. It was a technical marvel back in the day. I really like the red led display of the shutter and aperture in the viewfinder. I did not like the shooting mode selector as well. A1 is a much more modern camera. So if you want a classic mechanical with manual everything, om1. If you want one with more automation then A1. :-)

      @@qibcentricsplayground2043 I find both lenses to be excellent. I actually think Canon ones I tried had a good deal of character I liked also. • @stevantontichphotographyvi9358
      @stevantontichphotographyvi9358  Před 5 lety

      Hi. No it doesn't. It is a needle match meter. You set the shutter speed and then move the aperture ring to have meter needle appear in center. Check out OM 2 OR OM 4 for more automation.
