  • “The Belts and Bracket”
This is the second part to the mower removal video for a 2004 Craftsman Garden Tractor. This video continues with the removal and replacement of three (3) V-Belts from the tractor and mower deck as well as metal fabrication and welding of a broken Sway Bar bracket.
And as always, as long as the required tools, safety measures and the basic building block approaches are taken into consideration, it is possible to complete any job successfully.

A big problem in replacing the secondary belt is stretching the idler Pulley spring. I used a combination of stretching the spring and rolling the belt over the LH Pulley. I took a crowbar ànd placed it by the pivot arm with a wire wrapped around the crowbar and through hole where the spring goes through the pivot arm. I was able the pull the pivot arm open and roll the belt on.

@@albertoguerrero5362 I don't know if the mower is yours but I have a 2004 just like this one. I want to change the transmission fluid and I understand it takes 20W50 motor oil. I think the bottom of the trans has to be removed to drain the oil but I don't know how far to fill it. Some trans have a bolt on the side and fluid leaks out once it's full, then replace the bolt. Do you know anything about this procedure? I just finished replacing all three belts and your video helped lots. Thanks in advance.

@@proudconservative1 Hello, thank you for your question and comment. To answer your question, the mower is not mine and unfortunately I am not familiar with that particular process with this mower. My apologies for not being able to help you with this or lead you in the right direction.
I'm glad my video help you with the Belts replacement and thank you for watching.

Can anyone answer- The bolt loosened below the 2-pulley bracket to allow him to remove the drive belt. Should that bolt/nut actually not be 100% tight, to allow the 2-pulley bracket to float and sel-adjust for temperature, belt wear, load, etc. allowing the tension spring and engagement controls to function?

Hi , can you change the drive belt without removing the seat and fenders? Also do the front suspension plates have to be removed to pull the deck?
