- Hey guys! Today I'll be sharing with you my thoughts on Rosendo No 5 and Babycat from YSL; which is better, are they truly dupes for one another, and do you need both?

Hey guys! I know I'll get questions; I ordered my Babycat from Holt Renfrew in Canada. Also learned it is available on ScentSplit! www.scentsplit.com/products/yves-saint-laurent-babycat-sample-decants?variant=42496193888456
I asked a seller and she said Holt Renfrew ships to US.
It’s not discontinued, at least that’s what they told me at the Ysl store. They said eventually they’ll only have 125ml bottles, but right now is very hyped and everyone is buying it and they wait for new stocks to show up. I love it , too. I left the store with the 125 ml. And I have Rosendo 5 too. To me it smells like vanilla ice cream. I get where people are coming from with the rubber, but to me is like scooping with a stainless steel spoon vanilla icecream from this stainless steel container and you almost smell the frozen steel mixed with the ice cream . Not sure if you got your nose yet on Lune Feline. That’s another love for me, incense and vanilla . ❤
So you would say it smells metallic?
Love Babycat...an instant love at that. Lasts long and makes me fell beautiful. A life long for me.
I own both. Luckily, I don’t get any burned rubber/gas from RN5. When I first got Babycat, I was sad because they absolutely smelled so painfully similar. Now that I’ve sat with Babycat, they aren’t alike at all! Babycat is so smooth and fluffy and beautifully vanilla. RN5 is more “aggressive” and bold. The magic is in the drydown for RN5. Whereas Babycat smells magical from the initial spritz to the dry down. I immediately bought a second bottle. I love both but Babycat? I want to live in that bottle.

I have DUA's Vanilla Baby - its a dupe for Babycat. Took 30 days to sit and develop and its quite nice.
I think the similarity might be saffron? I have both these perfumes (omg how good!) and i smell a likeness in brompton immortals which has saffron too and if smell oud for greatness in the same sitting I get it as well, please try and let me know what you think 😊
I have both and also don’t find them that similar, just similar vibe, RM5 is a bit more unique thou, both are 💯
Wow I must’ve gotten a bad decant because I didn’t like Babycat. All I got was a strong incense/leather woody scent with very little vanilla.. but i mixed it with Spirituese Double Vanille and it smelled better. 😊
Rosendo 5 smells incredible in the air but not when you smell it up close. It’s a compliment monster for me.
Have you or anyone tried vanagloria from laboratorio olfattivo? The same perfumer and may be a little easier to get in the US. Have seen some reviews saying similar but haven’t been able to get my nose on either yet. 😢
I bought it since I couldn't find Babycat. Babycat is better, I feel like it's the finished product whereas Vanagloria was the first demo. Canadians will know what I mean when I say, it smells like Canadian Tire for the first 30 mins to an hour and then the dry down is similar but not quite the same as Babycat. Babycat is truly remarkable and I'm kicking myself for not ordering it when I could. I have a feeling the next batch, if at all, will either be more expensive or tampered with, either changed or watered down. Hopefully not. But I'm also not willing to spend the $650-$685 some people are asking for right now.
Just ordered it so I don't think it will be discontinued anytime soon... Hopefully I like it because it was blind buy at it's finest 😂
Rosendo Mateu No 5 smells like gasoline or a chemical similar to burnt rubber, in my opinion. Yikes... I'm hoping it will change since I blind bought it. I'm pleased to hear that Babycat is a big hit for you ❣️

Have you tried Penhaligon's Eau The Audacity? It's supposed to be better than Babycat.
I don’t think they’re the same. I love RM 5 & a GREAT DUPE is Fragrance World Rouge 5. Crazy good & dirt cheap. The burnt rubber goes away & strangely becomes addictive 😝

I live in the US. If baby cat is available only in Europe, I might pull some strings to get the perfume. If it is discontinued in the us AND eventually Europe, Im not going to get it
Yeah I’m not even sure of the availability in Europe, I just know it’s hard to get in the states:/ I wish it was more available

I blind bought Rosendo Mateu and it made me sick when I tested it on my hand. There is a note in there that stings you and you get an upset feeling. I would gladly give it away and cut my loses.

I think the number 5 that you have is incorrect trust me..
To me they are nothing alike at all. I guess they both have vanilla and spices but the balance is completely different.
I am very sensitive to the sharp, metallic saffron in the Mateu. To me it dominates and basically ruins the fragrance for me.
RM5 smells like a new paved street with gas on it 🤢
