    I realize it won’t move side to side, but push the boat frontwards or backwards and see if they just fold in and allow the boat to hit the dock….

      My thoughts exactly.... Show them in a river with current parallel to the dock and show how they do. If they handle that, I'm sold!

    Looks like a great idea but most docks don't have the cleats spaced the same distance across from the boat cleats

      @SmallmouthCrush  Před 2 lety +2

      Also some docks will sit higher up from your boat. Certainly still need to have a bumper system and ropes but in certain situations especially with floating docks this is perfect.

    Made the same ones at Home Depot for $20. Still beats $81 for Dockstix at Tackle Warehouse.

    It’s the start of a great idea. Hasn’t been though through completely, so many flaws not addressed. This is one of those products that some people will buy and will stop using shortly after.

    honestly, I don’t see it working perfect if the boat moves forward or backward, it will still rub against the dock !

    Seems like an awesome idea, but fenders and ropes are faster. And they seem to work great for bass boats but i have a deep V that will be higher for the kleets. Not sure if they would work for that.

    What do you do when the dock cleat isn't lining up with your boat, or it's too far away for the dock rod to reach? Get a longer bungee? Get longer rods? Seems like it would be really good for a very specific docking situation with a few, pre-planned docks... but not something that would replace the universality of a bumper or fender. Anyone with a little sewing know how and access to those rubber gym mats can make a fold over bumper pad that could be secured to the gunnel or boat cleats, and it would protect from basically every dock out there... including if the dock went on top of the gunnel, or things weren't level or evenly spaced. I like this idea a lot better, but it seems like it's very niche.

    Overly excited about using a system that works fairly well in this particular water and docking situation with this size and weight of a boat. I can see where this concept could be expanded upon to accommodate other tie-up scenarios and prevent a forward or backward drift. There is no way I would leave my boat unattended by, "bungee cords". So what keeps the boat from sliding along the dock forward or back, which will put the rods at an angle, then the whole boat will move into the dock. Something else to consider is tidal changes. Sorry, for these reasons I'm out.

    Still would need some bumps in the middle if the boat pushes forward or backwards, guess you still need some rope to tie on front and back off boat to pull the movement out. ?

      It’s been working out great for me so far. I tried to show the boat moving back-and-forth with my feet really hard to mimic wind. I typically don’t have to Doc anywhere where there’s 2 to 3 foot rollers coming in so far they’ve been a great investment for me and protecting my boat

    Those things are JUNK! Tried them once and they allowed the boat to move forwards and back banging the bow and stern against the dock everytime another boat entered the marina a little to hot and caused waves. TOTAL JUNK

    • @SmallmouthCrush
      @SmallmouthCrush  Před 2 lety

      That’s strange that’s certainly not my experience I know it takes some time to properly know how to secure that to the boat and dock but once you do I couldn’t seem to make it move at all.

  • @dannylamb9041
    @dannylamb9041 Před 2 lety

    Or use the 5k in power poles to hold the boat...

    • @SmallmouthCrush
      @SmallmouthCrush  Před 2 lety

      Poles and ropes will hold a boat but I was looking for something that wouldn’t not allow the boat to rub the side of the docks. Piled and ropes will keep your boat in one spot but the waves and wind will blow it up against the docks

  • @neilpenner7233
