His name was actually Ten Broeck. He was elected into the Thoroughbred Hall of Fame in 1982 and his gravestone is the first erected for a Thoroughbred in the State of Kentucky. His gravestone sits in a small, fenced in plot near Midway, Kentucky...just off the Old Frankfort Road. His gravestone is along side of another great Thoroughbred of that era, Longfellow. Of not on Ten Broeck's grave it is chiseled that he was "folded on June 29". By the time Longfellow died, the spelling error had been corrected and it gave the date that Longfellow was FOALED. He sired 2 Kentucky Derby winners.

We pickers in Jam Central Ohio are enjoying your explanation and often do this song. Luckily we have a singer or two that know all the words and can belt it out.
