Clearly the iPhone mic is inadequate for quality recording. The mic gets overloaded and clips the dynamics out. I’ll invest in a better recording device soon.
Wow even though the iphone mic sucks, they sound fantastic. Do you have more details on the drivers and design you used. The AMT is perfect for an OB, I'm surprised I don't see more people going that route.
I need a good recording device. It’s still useful I find recording tracks then use good headphones I can pin point issues better even if it’s not the best recording.

Pure Audio Project use a Heil AMT tweeter in their new Trio 10 speakers co-developed for that speaker with ESS Labs.
