yeah, my english is pretty damn good even though i am not a native english speaker. but honestly, i often have a hard time keeping up with john's scripts for stefon. there's just so much going on.

I was just at a taping of Late Night With Seth Meyers and when he came out during the middle of a set change and did a q&a, someone asked if he was still in close contact with Bill Hader, and he smiled really big and said of course he was.
Salty 24112 That he is, but still, having to play the straight man (no pun intended) to Stefon is no small feat. The sketch is funny enough in itself, but Bill Hader cracking up at John Mulaney's changes would have me losing it every time.
I think he's just fidgeting, bill hader has talked about having horrible anxiety and that's a pretty bold anxiety inducing thing to do. It looks like he's trying to ground himself to not panic

Finally got to give him a kiss (probably scripted as a short smooch that the actor turned into a bigger deal). No closeted anything, nothing between the lines. Just the actors having fun with some sexual tension between their characters. That's why the smile--it was a running gag (reflex) and as another commenter put it, Stefon's actor "won this round". That's all.
so many little things that make this perfect like when bill wipes away tears with his little fingers and seth goes, very softly and very reassuringly, "it's okay! but it's okay" or how bill mouthes "I L O V E Y O U" right at the end of the segment i love this

What is so special about their love is the way that Seth, despite becoming reasonably exasperated with Stefon and realising that he's incompetent, still always takes time to praise his efforts and tell him he's doing a good job anyway. That's the ideal kind of partner support.
