Josh you are right, the bell has a type two pitch. The electrical board inside the bell is labeled as type 1. Oh well?? Hi Cute family, this project took many tries to get right. Me and my father actually built many tiny signals before this one. This is the first one that is totally automatic (gate included). It would not take long for us to build a second. The control system we used is a PLC witch uses ladder logic. If we were to do this again, we might try Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
There are some canadian crossings where the bell stops. Not as many any more. My hometown of Grimsby Ontario had them in the 1960s. I'll take the original bell over the electronicone any day!
Awesome that Safetran mechanical bell sounds fantastic I own one one day I hope to get a Ebell one day mine is pretty loud even out side it's pretty loud glad I got mine 🙂 awesome video
Second one u did I love the sound i ask Santa for an real train and tons of cars and a crossing be my drive way so when my parents are leaving they know my trains comeing
Hi Taylor, the reason the bell stops is because me and David programed it that way (apparently the sound drives some people crazy - likely not a long road). I know that most Canadian railroad crossings don't have bells that stop when the gate reaches the bottom. There is a CZcams video of a railroad crossing in Revelstoke. It is a three track railroad crossing and the bell that stops when the gate reaches the bottom. So, some railroad crossings do have bells that stop when the gate reaches the bottom.
Christian Hickman It doesn't really bother me, in fact, I find it fascinating. In my area, here in WA, the bells here will keep you up if the train doesn't. Some times I think when I see videos from near there, Lucky. The only thing they really help with is just a bit more warning. Oh and, "Lucky."
Nice little signal you have here, but the GS bell is actually a Type 2. The type one as a higher pitch, unless you modified the pitch in a GS Type 1 to sound like a Type 2.
I'm shocked to say there's a Canadian Pacific train just came through with my town in Louisiana shockingly be the first time in Canadian Pacific on the Canadian national normally runs through Louisiana
this was part of my childhood and was an critical part of me getting into trains
Me too
Me Too!
In my childhood, I wasn't really into the trains, but rather just the signals for some odd reason

3:11 is that a Model train?
Yes
Thx for memories I did not even know why I loved train alarm thingy videos a long time ago
It’s cool but I think the bells should be attached to the crossing pole in the top and can also be detached.
Nice video and fun to watch. Take care now.
Quite a nice "playroom", Thanks for the demo!

Bruce Metcalfe Grimsby has some good Crossings
This is very cool. Would love to find out what materials were used to make crossing and mechanics used to make arm work.

Nice sound with the second one.
Safetran mechanical bell: 56 tones at 225 bpm
General Signals Type 1 electronic bell: 40 tones at 155 bpm
Nostalgic moment 😢
Also a perfect pedestrian crossing if a sensor was added of if someone who has time held a toggle switch and activated it!
POV: came here for nostalgic
Fantastic 👏👏👏👏
This was my childhood. I watched this when I was 1-4
I love the electronic bell

For me most crossings have the bell ring the whole time!

I know, but Canadian ones don't.
Why does the bell turn off? Canadian crossings don't do that.
Also how did you get the cross buck? Did you make it? If so how would you?
That’s amazing how did you do that how do you get the bell
Is there a way to get both bells to work at once?

The general signal type one sounds like the general signal type two.
Nice
The electronic bell is a GS Type 2, not a Type 1
Was that a model RR in the backround?
The GS type 1 e bell sounds like the type 2 e bell
I'm shocked to say there's a Canadian Pacific train just came through with my town in Louisiana shockingly be the first time in Canadian Pacific on the Canadian national normally runs through Louisiana
