Wonderful. This is definitely not the final version. It has a lot of their earlier sound. It's also a great demonstration of what is to love about that sound.
@cometothesabbat Black Metal was born in the 90's, with the second wave. The 'black metal' of the 80's sounds nothing like actual black metal, more like thrash or punk.
@Ozzmanconnection zephyrous dropped out the scene and spends most his time ice fishing prob going to get slagged off but its true i know people who know him not very black metal but those norsk guys love ice fishing
@Ilikemustard no, you are wrong, just listen to second and third bathory records. most newer black metal bands are the bands that don't sound like actual black metal, usually from 1994 and onwards. the true black metal sound was finished after darkthrone released panzerfaust. also sarcofago was black metal. you also can't compare the lofty styles of emperor with the minimalistic styles of darkthrone, they too must belong in separate genres. venom started black metal, end of story!
i dont know, he seemed to have a problem with stage divers..... especially because the idiot bumped into nocturno, and knocked him away from the mic, i'm not sure, but it seems as though the show was topped for a second after that. lol
But what made some of the norwegian bands good were that they were heavily influenced by the old 80s black metal sound. Most of the new bands that sound like "early nineties bm" neglect that influence, as did many of the hangers on to the norwegian scene from 1993 onwards. Too many bands try to sound like Transilvanian Hunger, too few bands try to sound like A Blaze In The Northern Sky. Not that copying is a good idea to begin with, but there is too much lame melancholic tremolo riffing about...
Must've been before they started making records, then. I actually tried to listen to some early stuff, and it was just not any good. But I register that some people actually like it, so it's not my business. But compared to the good bands of the time they were shit, if not, name one song or release that is actually good. All I heard was shit. Their first record for instance. Shit. But people have different tastes. Listen to Furze! Hellhammer! Old Bathory! That's what I call good black metal!
part of the reason why people bag on them is they are simply boring. first handful of albums were great, but there current stuff simply bores the hell out of me.
And one more thing I gotta comment on; some people saying "but they were cool in the mid 90s": No, they weren't! Dimmu Borgir and CoF were both crappy from the start. Call it true black metal or not. There is only a very tiny percentage of black metal bands that tr00ly rock. Darkthrone, Furze, Mayhem, Burzum, Negative Plane and MANY OTHERS, but still not nearly many enough! There are too many black metal bands on this planet. Most of them are ridiculous and suck horse ass. HAIL BATHORY!!!
one of the best songs by darkthrone and extremely underrated as well

I saw them touring on the back of their demo 'total fucking darkness'.
that was raw black metal as good as any Scandinavian bands at that time.
someone needs to upload the video of Cromlech from this show, where Zephyrous kicked a member of the audience in the back.

Excellent comeback. Can't help the fact that the internet is free speech, so you resort to juvenile insults. Good day sir.
