    Oh my gosh, Sarah, you sent this to me a few months ago on FB and I kid you not I just found I pulled it up a few days for a refresher before grooming my dood this weekend (it had been a few months since I groomed him)... and here you are on my CZcams home feed! Love it. Love your work :)

    This is exactly the video I needed! I tried just scissor clipping my doodles head and I hated it! I was scared of using the clippers but this gave me confidence to try for our next home groom!

    Thank you for this, informative and instructional. Also had a little boy who couldn't be older than 8 comment about his laberdoodle dog's coat "did you use 5/8?" and he pointed at the length chart we use. I was speechless (in a good way) and told him yes. He smiled and said doggo looked pretty.

    I love this cut 🤩 ! You need to fix your camera so we can see you doing his face better though . I’m trying to learn thus cut so bad . I have the same type doodle but he’s probably has way more curls . When blow dried he’s nice and smooth but that only lasts a day 🤦‍♀️ . I have to keep him short like this . Your the only groomer that I’ve seen do a doodle like this 🙌🏻 they all make mine look like a poodle 🤦‍♀️ so I’ve been doing him myself

    Why are u shaving in reverse on the head? Is that a typical thing in doodle grooming im a baby groomer and just wondering what kind of thinning shears are u using or are they chunkers?

    • @carmenmoran1988
      @carmenmoran1988 Před 2 lety +3

      I always shave reverse in head.. On all breeds. It gives it a cleaner blend from neck to head

    • @Sarahgrooming
      @Sarahgrooming  Před 2 lety +2

      Going in reverse on the top of the head will prevent showing as many clipper marks. The hair blends better.

    Are you supposed to cut the eyelashes short too? I love my dogs long eyelashes and was really surprised when I got her back and they were cut off.

    • @tinaknutsen
      @tinaknutsen Před rokem

      I was told by a groomer that does show dogs that cutting the eyelashes is a big no-no.
      With that said, I took my doodle in and told them specifically not to cut the eyelashes….they chopped them off!
      My husband picked her up and when I saw her I was pretty upset about it…..groomers need to listen to specific requests. Also if a groomer is going to put a video out please review it before you post it…you can’t see what you are doing….

    • @Sarahgrooming
      @Sarahgrooming  Před rokem +2

      You can use a clipper or scissors, sometimes I’ll only use scissors. This is just a quick easy way to set a consistent length, especially if you’re a newer groomer and not super proficient with your scissor work yet. Sometimes I’ll just take one swipe down the center of the head with the clipper to set my length, then I’ll use curved chunkers to blend into the rest of the head.

    What about the dogs whiskers? Do you have to be careful not to cut the whiskers?

    • @Sarahgrooming
      @Sarahgrooming  Před 2 lety

      No there is no problem cutting dog whiskers. In many breeds the whiskers are shaved completely off such as poodles, cocker spaniels, setters etc

    • @yourfavoriteproblem
      @yourfavoriteproblem Před 2 lety

      I used to work at petsmart a few years ago and when I was there, we definitely did! I'm sure they still do 👍 We would also pluck the hair out of the ears for the breeds that grow it in the ear canal (like most doodles)

    • @Sarahgrooming
      @Sarahgrooming  Před 2 lety +1

    • @Sarahgrooming

    • @Sarahgrooming
      @Sarahgrooming  Před 2 lety

      Cuts happen at some point or another. That’s just the truth, because you’re working with very sharp tools on live non-consenting animals that have a mind of their own and can be unpredictable. I’ve been grooming for over 20 years so cuts are few and far between. However any groomer can cut a dog at any time with one small movement. I do my best to be conscious of exactly what and where I’m cutting and am very careful.

      This was my first time trying out a new device to hold my camera. When it’s attached to the device you cannot watch the s teen to check if it’s in frame so it’s sort of shooting blind. I just kept getting requests for a video and this was the best I could put together at the time without a helper
