- The trick drum drive shaft seriously makes the slave pedal 7x more effective. Now you don't have to use extra effort for that left foot.

#doublebasspedal #doublepedal #trickdrums - Hudba
I just added this to an old Pearl power shifter double pedal. Made it a completely different pedal. Balanced like never before.
OH YES!!!! That feeling. thanks for sharing your experience!
This is smart dude. I have had this shaft on my demon drives for about a year now and it 100% makes the difference
woah nice to know wit also makes a difference even on the demon drive. Thought the demon drive shaft already comes with the same tech
Actually the bearings in the Pearl's Demon Drive shaft are the same in the trick 5.0 shaft. Could of been a bad bearing in the Pearl's Demon direct drive pedal. But I switched from the dw9000 with the Trick 5.0 shaft for the Pearl Demon direct drive. But the slave pedal feels so much smoother with the Trick shaft vs the dw drive shaft.
I'm a violinist. tf am I doing here 😂
😂 Cheers!

That explosion caught me off guard. 😅
hahahaha hope it didn't make you spill something
Thank you so much for making this short, I’ve been struggling with this exact problem for years and searched the internet for information and asked multiple people but never really found the solution to it, this is truely a game changer!
GIve this a try!!! THank you for sharing your experience!
You are one of my all time drum instructors. Thank you so much for providing us with all this education.
I appreciate that a lot! Thank you
This is a fantastic video. I've had that shaft for years now and it's so good. The drive shaft is a notorious weak point on many pedals.
Yeah the older pedals especially! Glad it works for you too!
It's a literal no brainer to add to ANY double pedal. I just got the ACD Unlimited one though and it feels even smoother.
The ACD one is definitely better if you can afford it!
I can't believe DW still doesn't offer ball bearing connecting rods for the 5000 and 9000 series. It's the Achilles heel of those pedals, the stock one gets loose and laggy over time.
Oh they offer it BUT only for their most expensive machine drive pedal. Sad 😭
Sounds like the double bass from vendetta
I loved the boom! Haha good job!
Hahahah thanks man!
I just came here to say that I just got one and put it in my Tama Speed Cobra (2nd generation). I am surprised about the feeling and results. Definitely a great and well recommended addition!
Glad you managed to get it! It's very rare and always out of stock haha. Cheers for sharing this :)
Humorous guy, thanks.
Much appreciated!
Trick user it’s a shame this shaft doesn’t help as much as the one on my Pearl Demon chain. That slave pedal has a lot better response than my pro 1v and it’s insane cause they make this driveshaft lol
Awesome stuff keep it up!
Appreciate it!
lol oh damn call the fire department
More info about my previous pedal settings here czcams.com/users/shortsEXklQf9PAoE And it's important to note that my dw5000 is going to be different from your pearl eliminator, or your tama iron cobra. So the exact spring pedal adjustments are going to be different.
This product is the trick drum double pedal drive shaft. It's not a sponsored video and I don't get anything for sales. Just sharing an awesome double pedal upgrade.
That link is for the wrong thing
Thanks for notifying! Life saver
From a mechanics perspective, can you explain why you needed to loosen the left pedal spring tension quite a bit to make the spring tensions equal?
I don't have a mechanic's perspective. Gotta ask someone with engineering background why, if someone can add on to this question?
Very useful information thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
My speed cobras have taken a beating over the years i should probably try this cause i’m having starting to have issues playing stuff that i used to play no problem..
That can happen with worn out hardware and rusty parts, this upgrade is really hang for buck!
The trick 5.0 shaft is what i use on my dw9000, but i had to replace the original shaft because it kept making a clicking sound that my lower snare mic picked up. But after the switch to trick i think the bearings is what makes the difference. Pearls demon drive pedal uses a similar drive shaft which is why i ended up sticking with my pearl over the dw9000. But selling the dw9000 with the trick 5.0 pretty much paid for my pearl demon drive lol.
Oh yeah I have a demon drive too. Compared them side by side, the trick shaft is still better. But the demon drive is good enough for sure!
I never knew it mattered. I play even strokes all the time.
Oh I just got this upgrade. Played everything on the stock one too. BUt it does matter. Left foot doesn't have to work harder than the right anymore.
wowwww thanks bro! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🙏🏻😊
My pleasure!
Where did you get it ? Can u share the link of the product ? Cant find it
Hi again dude ,
Since I saw this video I investigated and found the Pearl Demon Drive has the Z- Link which looks very similar to the Trick.
Pearl sells the shaft as far as I know about $500.
Looks like they didnt copy but did the same or nearly the same kind of shaft.
Demon XR has them too.
I have the pearl demon drive. The trick shaft is still slightly better and smoother. Also only half the cost of the pearl shaft. The best one is ACD one but more expensive than the trick drums one
Darn I need to learn ankle tech
My channel has videos on it :)
That's amazing! I need one!
220 BPM that's crazy fast duuude! I would love to see you playing some extreme metal stuff!
Ahh i dont listen to extreme metal u fortunately. Only prog metal haha so that's what my double bass chops are for 😁 save and invest in this thing, it's a lifesaver!

Yo I really desperately need this thanks for making a video on it 🙏. Also if it isn't too much of a hastle do you mind sending me a link to where I can buy the one you have?
Try Sweetwater.com
So weird as I been trying to solve for months. DW eh, seems to be the running issue. My 9000 are not balanced at all even though springs and all else is bang on perfect
Hahaha nice one!! 😂
Yoyo hope you're doing great!!
I just want to point out that the whole making the beater swing match each other has no effect on playing, it's all in your mind. Notice before the adjustment they stay in sync for several swings. When the hell does a drummer ever let a pedal swing more than a single stroke while playing. Even when using heel toe, it's still only 2, and those beaters stayed in sync for 5 before really starting to lag behind. Matching your spring tension, beater length and angle have more to do with playability. I'd be really hard pressed to see if any drummer would even be able to notice in a blind test between the adjustment. That said, The trick drive shaft is far superior to anything else on the market and will definitely be a noticable improvement to any pedal.
Well if it affects your mind so that you play better. There you go :) placebo is strong. But I legit play more evenly without having to push as hard on the left beater. it affects even the first stroke if the mechanism is smoother, so yes even if the first few swings match, if the left pedal does with less pressure needed, it's a win. Appreciate the thoughts you shared though!
The best drive shaft is bei ACD unlimited! You need to try that one as well!
Oooh yeah this one is cheaper hahaha, but I know that one works even better, can't imagine how much better it can get :D
Cool video :)
Thanks man!
I just bought the DW 5000 Double Pedals. My beaters are balanced great and are running smooth. So it's just a matter of time until my pedal will stop working or what? Had the problem with my old cheaper Pearl pedal. Thought by investing in something more expensive would help. well... we'll see.
if they're smooth, then just roll with them! I didn't always play with these too, I already attained the speeds before I switched to this shaft.
Where can i get that shaft? Any link?
Try sweetwater.com
Where can i buy this drive shaft ? ... Because in my country indonesia, it's very very hard to find accesories parts for double pedals ... Hell in my country, the musics store doesn't even sell the parts like chain, drive shaft, or other slow moving parts.
I brought it from sweetwater.com
hmm, i have them boxed somewhere, perhaps to get them out :P
lets' go!
What exactly is different? I'm not seeing it. Nor am I hating on it ,I just want to know what I'm investing my time in? And would it be better if I just used two kick drums?
If you don't get it from this video, try watching and scouring the web for more information, this also isn't the only product. And 2 kick drums with 2 single pedals will give you the most identical settings of course so go for that if you want to 👍
how long should the main pedal stay swinging? I tested mine like in the video and it stops at about 4 seconds
How about comparatively to your right? I think if it stops around the same time as the right,. you've got an even enough tension going for both. Best is they work the same exactly though, that's where this shaft and the even better but more expensive ACD shaft comes into play
Trick driveshaft for DW pedals = 💩
Hell'o,
Thank you for making this video.
I have a DW 9002 XF, I am very satisfied with this model. I bought the Trick driveshaft for the DW model, be careful, it doesn't fit well at all! It's a disaster, a shame at these prices! Return to the store straight away! I plan to try the double Demon Drive XR from PEARL and the double Tama Dyna-Sync from TAMA (yes, by changing the driveshaft for a suitable Trick)! Can you give me some feedback on these pedals please? Merci beaucoup, et voilà, all the best... Dave,
I can tell you I have a demon chain pedal and the left pedal response is better than the trick pro 1v itself. I have both pedals and no matter what I do the response on the pearl is better than the trick and they make the stupid drive shaft lol
Is it just a drive shaft that you replaced?
Hey yes, that rod connecting both pedals. Try to find it on sweetwater.com if you're interested. The " trick drum double pedal drive shaft "
If I only played double kick. I have the petal but as of now I don't need it in my band
save this for when you do start :D You're already at step 1, having the pedal
Thank you uncle roger
😉
Can back this up. 1000/10 drive shaft ESPECIALLY if you use dw pedals, the standard dw drive shaft is terrible, the trick one pretty much eliminates delay and makes the slave pedal feel super solid
Yeaaahhh! Agreed the difference is huge. Stock shafts need to be reworked
What is the correct shaft to buy for this?
Trick drums shaft
Nice video! For me, my z-link drive shaft seems to slower the beater swing as I loosen the spring tension more. So what I had to do with my left pedal is increase the spring tension a bit more than the right until the swing for both beaters are almost equal (I'm not sure if it makes it harder for me to play the left pedal) What is wrong with my pedal?😢 plz help!!!
Different pedal shafts and pedals act differently, there's nothing with your shaft, to get perfectly even swings with identical settings you need to probably use the best ACD pedals and their shafts. Which is really expensive. This is just a cheaper alternative I'm demonstrating in this video.
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it!
What is it you bought ? It’s not clear.
Said it in the first sentence, Trick Drum Shaft
What is the brand and name of this shaft? Where do I buy it?

Is it possible to buy a dw ones for axis and then just machine shop it??
I'm not so sure about that, no experience there
Does this work for lefty pedals as well!?!?!
As long as there's a slave pedal and a shaft that connects, it should work. Check the connection type before you buy though
Of course it should be the same kind of connection. I am a lefty and the parts are interchangeable with right footed pedals parts, except for the pedals themselves.
What about the shaft makes it better
The joints and the zero play in them
Where can I find it?
Sweetwater.com
Is this currently unavailable? Does anybody buy it this year? Thanks

What shaft is that?
Trick Drum Shaft
How did you adjust your springs to go that long?
I play max tension for the right pedal and slightly less for the left. But different springs on different pedals are different in weight and stiffness too. A demon drive pedal spring is much stiffer and I wouldn't set it at maximum, perhaps halfway. So it all depends on what tension is enough that the beater momentum works together with you, and not against you, like being too heavy or too light.
Does it make a big difference during actual playing?
It's not a significant difference. Meaning this won't fix inadequate technique and underdeveloped muscles. But it does make it truly easier for me to sustain longer periods of double bass. I also applied this to a pedal which was already a good set of pedals (the dw5000). I have drummer friends who've tried this on their worn out older pedals (last generation pearl/tama pedals) and they're all surprised that they didn't even realize how stiff their slave pedals were to begin with.
What's the shirt and where'd you get it
That's from uniqlo. It's the anime "Your Name"
Does it fit on Yamaha FP9's? Any thoughts?
Check out their website, I'm not sure
Im about ready to get a trick drive shaft for my dw 7000 and selling the Axis drive shaft but I dont know if theres anyone out there that will need an Axis drive shaft alone
I heard the axis is really smooth from someone else, but I could be wrong. Well I have a spare dw5000 shaft too now ever since I switched hahaha. Make the jump if you've been struggling.
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ its actually pretty smooth but the problem is that its not a 100% secure lock tight fit because im having to compress 2 sides over the 4 peg square and in comparison the trick drive shaft would just be a better option but yeah its definitely working for now even though I should have just bought a trick drive shaft because its straight retro fitted for whatever double pedal you need it for \m/
@@acidbath3226 Oh in case you didn't, check out this forum discussion on the axis and the drive shafts, apparently it's not that straightforward? www.drummerworld.com/forums/index.php?threads/trick-drive-shaft-for-axis-pedal.164453/ Just sharing in case there's some important details in there for you before you consider switching.
Have you ever tried playing with 2 bass drums ?
Don't have the space or money to do that unfortunately. That would be balanced as hell hahaha

I like hitting with the plastic side instead of the felt side. Gives me more of the sound I want :D

i never had this problem with iron corbras
If you think this one is good, you gotta get your hands on an ACD Unlimited driveshaft. You won’t play anything else after
OH yeah I heard about those, definitely getting one in the future for comparison too!
Great except my screw stripped where they attach to pedal and slave pedal
Which screw? The shaft comes with screws, for attaching pedal and slave pedal
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ the part that slides onto the pedal on both the slave and master pedal i can’t even get the screw out . Fortunately there’s two holes with screws and one works on each.
