  • Does seeing the Elementor update notification fill you with dread? You're not alone! Follow this simple guide to reduce the stress of all your future updates.
    Elementor has a track record of releasing updates that either cause issues or don't play well with 3rd party WordPress plugins and updates can take time to be released.
    Using a WordPress staging site can help reduce the stress and allow you to easily and safely test the updates BEFORE pushing them out to your live website.
    Creating a WordPress staging site shouldn't be hard and in this guide, I'll show you how to use the free WPVivid Backup plugin to create your own staging environment in minutes.
    If you want an even easier method of pushing the fully tested updates to your live site, then I'll also show you 2 reasons why the WPVivid Backup Pro is worth considering.

      @@WPTuts Would be great. I have used it on a smaller site, and it does have to be used with caution, things like logos tend to disappear, but they do make it easy to recall the missing images as long as you keep them in the folder WPVivid creates. But I have a site that has backups of over 2TB, would love to clean it up but seems like a tedious job looking for any missing images after running the tool. Maybe another good video would just be about all the images that WordPress creates that you don't need. I would call that unnecessary bloat. This took certainly shows you that.

    Great Tutorial!. I need to solve something with this plugin. I want to use it to redesing a site. So creating a staging site I can make every change. But my question is, imagine its a woocommerce or blog site, where i have new content every days in the live site, posts, order, etc. How can i update only the redesing when I finish, without losing all the new content? Thanks!!

    Great tutorial as usual! Thanks so much!
    I do have one question, though. Let's suppose my live site is an e-commerce, with all its data (carts, orders, wishlists etc), which will keep running while I work on the staging version.
    My question is: when I roll the changes from the staging to the live site, will my live database have a differential update (applying only new or different data) or will it be completely replaced with the staging data? The latter implies that orders on the live site will be "vanished", if they were placed after the staging site was created.
    Thanks in advance! Keep up with the outstanding content you produce!

    •  Před 2 lety

      I'm curious about that either. Does anyone have an answer for that?

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  Před rokem

      It currently completely replaces the site when pushed from the staging site. However, they are currently running an open beta for a new product that only pushes the data changes between staging and live.
      I haven't tested it yet, but if that works as intended it should make transitioning between the 2 a lot easier with no data overwriting.

      Once I've done that - I tend to use WP Vivid thereafter. (Has anyone else noted that All In One doesn't always complete in PHP 8.x? - WP Vivid's become my go to replication tool now).
