I agree. My granddaughter has just about killed the port on my iPad mini and, for some reason, the cord in my room is difficult to get out with the case so, I’m liking the magnetic charger. I agree that they don’t have the charging strength of an apple cord but, I would compensate for that by using a fast charging brick.

9:29 All fresnel lenses do this. Same kind of lenses used in VR, and those streaks are called 'god rays', because in VR they seem to come at you out of infinity. They've been making these screen magnifiers for this purpose since the black and white TV days. And they were never great... because the lens was designed for lighthouses, not TVs.

The screen magnifier (love the wooden look) is a Fresnel lens - you're right, these are grooves. It's basically the outside curve of a normal lens, broken into sections and laid out on a flat surface - they can be really powerful (as in burn wood in seconds with the right one).

  • @Dreadjaws
    @Dreadjaws Před 3 lety +5

Man, that Pocket Tripod looks really versatile. The price is kinda high, but it does seem to reflect on the build quality and versatility. I assume it'd be much cheaper if it didn't include all those adapters. But then again you might have to buy a new one when changing phones, or for other devices, like tablets.

About 9 months ago I bought one of the magnetic charging cables and I'll never go back to using the traditional ones. I keep a silicone case on my phone and I did have to use a rotary tool to make the charging port opening larger to fit the connector. But once that was done, the hard work was over. The convenience of connecting it in the dark because of the LED light is awesome. Mine didn't come with a stiff cable that tangles like yours. Because the cable is so flexible, there's less chance that the wires inside will short out over time (through repeated flexing). Also, because you don't pull the cable in and out of the charging port over and over again, there's less chance that's the cable ends or your charging port will wear out Highly recommended!

Good morning Mr. White. My name is Mary. I'm a big fan of your channel. Whenever I make a purchase, I always watch you (when applicable) & read CR reviews. I do have the Dizaul magnifier that is bamboo. I have loved it. I use it mainly in my kitchen for recipes (phone & books), as well as CZcams videos. Flat surface works best for the magnification. I have found that you are able to adjust the screen to accommodate for a better view. One drawback, the the kitchen can get a bit "oily/greasy" causing my phone to slip. Doesn't happen often so it's not a bad problem. The bright side is that a little warm, soapy water cleans this product up quickly. (Dawn + Microfiber towel is best). My eyes aren't what they used to be so this was my favorite & cheapest alternative. No Medical Insurance = no eye doctor. Have a fantastic day & I hope my input helped. Thank you so very much for what you do.

    Pros:
No more flipping the cord to make sure it goes in the correct way.
One handed connection. Most times I just aim the phone at the cord and it connects itself.
No more tripping on the cord and breaking the port. It just unconnects with no damage.
No more plugging my phone in at night (or anytime) only to realize the cord wasn't plugged in and my phone is not charged. Since it's lit you know if it's plugged in or not. Plus it helps to find the cord end in the dark.

The best part about the magnetic charge cable is if u have a VR headset and u need to charge and play at same time you won’t mess up the internal piece on VR by jerking around. The magnet just disconnects but it’s still strong enough to hold most of time.

I really like the magnetic charging cable. You can plug your phone on charge in a pitch black room and even find the cable because it's going to be glowing

4:35 HAH!! After destroying THREE USB cables in one day, I declared I was done, I was getting magnetic cables and this was the exact brand I bought! Works perfectly well for both charging and data transfer. The right-angled plug is perfect, and PLENTY of tips!

I like the first two, the iflex is pretty cool. I found another one on Amazon called Trek Stand, not sure which one is made better, both got the same basic review but the iflex about 500 more reviews.
The Magnetic phone cable is something I thought up a few years ago, but a slightly different use so this is a good proof of concept that it works.
The pocket tripod is kind of cool, but I think if you have an iflex why do you need the pocket tripod? The iflex is small enough it can fit in a bag and there is more uses for it. I do have an idea for a change for that that might make it even more useful but I'll have to play around with the idea.
And no I won't tell anyone my ideas.

The magnifier uses a fresnel lens. According to Wikipedia, "the design allows the construction of lenses of large aperture and short focal length without the mass and volume of material that would be required by a lens of conventional design." Those streaks and cuts you see are basically prisms that help refract light. Fresnel lenses are used in lighthouses because it needs to have massive refraction but very compact construction (and lightweight so that it could rotate, presumably).
Otherwise, for the same magnification using a conventional lens, it would be way bigger than the Magavision and the Amazon would be.

The thing that makes the Diz u al work is called a frenal lens. It basically a magnifying lens that has been squished. The 'streaks' are from the grooves. The grooves are the things that do the magnifying.

The groves are because of the lens being a fresnel lens. It's a type of lens that is able to Magnify while still remaining flat.

I used those magnetic charging cables like 8-10 years ago for awhile and they were cool at first but then you remember you always have to have that particular cable on you so you're forced to buy multiples so you have one for home, the car, work, and whatever else. They work well and are cool but from my experience the novelty wears off quickly and you'll eventually end up back to a normal cable...
