@@Corteum The book is a dystopian future (that is compared to 1984, but is not authoritarian control). one of the controls however, is Soma. A drug that the government gives out that makes everyone really happy. So this leads to them being more docile, happy all the time, but easier to manipulate, stay in their role, not have crazy ambitions. So basically the governement drugs society and gains social control that way, instead of 1984 style of terror and constant observation and authoritarian control.
@@RobNerlandfit That is an interesting description. But do you think that would actually happen that way if the world was given access to all the worlds consciousness changing substances, natural or synthetic
2:05:00 combining AI with the concepts in Fahrenheit 451 is the biggest problem
Data capture and data corruption between competing ideologies can be very destructive
Joe under cannabis is just mind blowing. Awesome inteview!
Seems like Sam was interviewing Joe
Money just simplifies our time and how we spend it, the problem is we no longer enjoy each others company,
no longer appreciate guidance and think that seeking change is all there is.. as an effect this makes it no longer possible for
establishments to retain the interest of public safety,
this means we need to, in the interest of one another, gratefully accept the others wants and analyse
how they interfere with ones needs.
Blockchain and AI are going to be amazing coming into a free world,
a convergence of the perspectives assumed by each opposing parties
could be one of the first big tasks that the combination of these technologies
will be able to serve us with.
To Evolution,
patience pays.
i don't think the 1/8billionth piece of ASI should be sellable. corporations already have all the money so would just eventually monopolise it again. the piece should be tied to the person indefinitely to ensure equity
Read a couple verses from the Bible for a few weeks and say some solid prayers with clear intentions and gratitude. You will see, you are already doing the right thing!
The answer is simple on “why there isn’t very many young startups “
Many have hated yet no HATE found within thee!

I liked this interview a lot. Made a lot clear for me.
How do you safeguard your mind if merged with machine against the Sun or foreign enemies EMP?
UBI. Of course, because THE BEAST SYSTEM will control everyone. Don't die in your sins. Don't go to the Lake of Fire.🔥
why does this podcast have very few views? it is terrific
Because it’s a repost.
I'm a little baffled by the amount of time Joe entertained the idea of engineering human biology in some way. My study of Biology leads me to the conclusion that it is unlikely anything humans engineered into their Biology would work out better than natural variability and natural selection. People already tried eugenics, and it didn't work out well. However, human capability is also greater than in the past, so who knows.

"hour marks" Yupppp this convo was amazing and should be more openly spread. I feel like this isn't getting pushed as hard as it should.
Great convo. Would love to talk to Joe.
I already seen this and now it just come up saying it's 6 days old so I'm guessing the AI is pushing it finally 😊❤

Rehabs don't work because the money is in repeat business. They dry someone out but they don't keep them long enough for dry to become their new normal. The successful rehabs know this.

I'm just here to say never think artificial intelligence is conscious. It is not and can never be. Never make this mistake. Never let it fool you.
What makes you so confident to make a claim like never?
@jameschurch9618 bc computer programs can't ever be conscious. With a question like that I'll assume you'll be one of the ones easily fooled
@@jchastain789 why can't a computer program be conscious?

An advantage of knowing it's a simulation is that you now have a goal of learning what is beyond our limited senses. We could be confined to a infinitesimally small version of a bigger or infinite reality which could lead to more options, ability and ultimate greater degrees of happiness (ie. other animals cans see more colors, echolocate, etc.)
This was very nice. Thank you ❤

Joe is so simple minded it’s crazy
I think even if AI takes jobs, once and if we are compensated enough to live and have the essentials to live, we can still build communities by doing your typical DIY, creating art and music, competing in sports, exploring etc without the output being a desire for money.
I think if people are productive they can still be happy. This doesn’t obviously apply to everyone, and there’s always someone who is greedy. But that’s my 2 cents
I'm a newer fan of JRE and had yet to watch this podcast so I found this recommendation in my feed helpful just saying lol.
Many thanks Joe for sharing
Regarding attention hacking: I heard that they use them same algorithms on media feeds as they do for slot machines to keep you addicted.
1:55:29 I am pretty sure the guy who thinks ai can develop the ability to chose MIGHT not understand how instant gratification works.
