  • Hey, everybody.
    Today I have something extra special for you because I'm in Shear Elegance which is a salon in Greater Manchester and I'm going to be teaching them how to do a Blair nail which is very similar to a batwing nail! OMG, How exciting is that?
    So, first of all, we are going to push back the cuticle area and also waz over the nail with an electric file and 180 grit file to make it nice and smooth and ready for form application. Before we apply the form, we are going to completely close the end of it and then rock the top so that it fits the nail. Then, I'm going to use an acid based primer on the nail and apply Intense Pink directly to the form so that you can start to build out a thin platform.
    The hardest part of this nail is that you have to get each drop symmetrical to the side. After we've finished applying the Intense Pink, we are going to create a smile line using Rose Glow and then file the nail into shape. Now, we are on to the fun part...we are going to create little roses with the Mega White acrylic powder and my tool so that we can make the detail in the petals. Finally the glitter application! OMG! We are only going to add tiny bits to the spaces in between the roses.
    Finally, to finish we are going to mix Max Adhesion with red gel polish and then we are going to apply it to the nail to form to encapsulate those roses and then we are going to de-bulk with the file and buffer. There you have it. That's how to do a gorgeous Blair nail with encapsulated roses!
    Thanks for watching and please if you haven't already, subscribe to our channel, like this video and give it a share. I will see you in the next video!
    Love ya!

    Excellent tutorial, as always. I, personally, am not a fan of the oddball shapes. I want my nails to look like they might be real. That being said, there are many other skills and tricks that I can learn here. That's one of the reasons I love this channel. Even when it's a shape I will never make, I can still learn skills that I will use.

    I was wondering something, for those of us who have a problem doing this kind of nail could we use a black sharpie marker and draw the design on the form while she's wearing the form so we can get the shape right.

    • @kristigarcia4361
      @kristigarcia4361 Před 6 lety +3

      It may work but I'd test the idea first.. try it on a form with the acrylic you may use and see if the marker does or doesnt bleed into your acrylic. That's the only thing I could think of..

    • @tinayeager7267
      @tinayeager7267 Před 6 lety +2

      I was thinking the same thing but concerned the monomer will cause it to bleed!!

    • @ih8762
      @ih8762 Před 6 lety +3

      are there transparent forms? :) then you could draw on the other side maybe? don't know, but I love the sharpie idea...

    • @patriciagallacher6741
      @patriciagallacher6741 Před 6 lety +3

      I would use a pencil, a lot of people use a pencil to help with art and detail on the nail,least with a pencil it won't affect the monomer as a marker would

    How about using a straight pin through the form once on to get the point placement right. This may be a dumb question. But, how do you use the acetone and not mess up your own nails. I am someone who doesn’t do nails but love to watch and wish that they cared as much as you in my area of the USA

    No tapered square or ballerina on that list? I'm seeing nail shapes I've never seen or heard of before, real educational! I made a screenshot so l could look at those papers, l hope you don't mind :)
    Btw, there is a difference between ballerina and coffin nails ....a ballerina is filedl from where the natural nail grows out on the sides to the top of the tip but a coffin is first filed straight as a square and thén to the top of the tip.
    It's a real short straight part but is a slight difference.
    So now you can say ballerina, I know you find the term coffin a bit morbid, lol.

      I bit my nails really bad for 10+ years and they never grew past a certain point. I got acrylic nails a little over a year ago and now my natural nails have reattached and grow past my fingertips and I haven’t used acrylics since. From what I understand of the video and a personal experience, it definitely wouldn’t hurt to try acrylics and I recommend at least trying. Hope this can help!
